Re: [Bug 73227] Re: [feisty] some partitions do not appear in Places menu

2007-01-15 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Hello! This bug is only present when upgrading from edgy to feisty
without purging the user's home directory. I started with a new
account and now I can see every partition! also the ones that are not
mounted! I will do some tests to discover what happens when changing
fstab

Re: [Bug 14630] Re: Gdm theme Human with face list

2007-01-15 Thread Michiel Sikma
I don't get what you're saying here. Are you saying that you'll make
the design of the face browser as neutral as possible so that it'll
fit in with any style? That's generally not the way to go if you're
making default artwork. There is already a big enough inconsistency
problem in Ubuntu as it is, due to the lack of official design
documentation.

Do you have that problem if you copy the file to an another directory?

What version of Ubuntu do you use? Are you sure that's not only the

2007-01-15 Thread Andrew Turner
Thanks for your report. Your idea might get more attention and have
the possibility of being implemented if you would submit a
specification for this.

You should first check whether it already exists at the Ubuntu specs
page (https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+specs) in Launchpad. If
that is the case, feel free to contact the drafter of that spec about
your comments/suggestions. Otherwise you can start writing a spec
following the steps described in

[Bug 79383] Re: GAIM: incorrect character encoding in contact list

I confirm this bug.

Incorrect encoding happens in buddy aliases in ICQ (oscar).

All russian-speaking users set one-byte-encoding of oscar to cp1251 for
compatibility reasons. And broken encoding looks exactly like UTF-8
string treated as cp1251 and converted to UTF-8.

[Bug 79399] RACE CONDITION: loading initial page Ubuntu Help Centre

2007-01-15 Thread Sven Herzberg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

I'm using bookmarks in Yelp to link to several manuals I look up things
frequently with (eg. one being the DocBook Book).

0. Open a Yelp window
1. Make sure you have a bookmark in your bookmarks menu
2. Close all Yelp windows
3. Press F1 in your desktop
4. Once the window appears, open the bookmark menu and load your bookmark
5. You'll see your bookmark in the window
6. A moment later (looks like loading Ubuntu Help Centre is finished then),
the page disappears and Ubuntu Help Centre appears

Expected behavior: stop loading the help center (is centre really
correct? should I file another bug about that typo?) once a different
page is requested.

Re: [Bug 78199] Re: evolution problems making a listserv

2007-01-15 Thread Scotty Michaelsen
Thank you for responding to my report. I should have used contact list
instead of listserv. Everyone I know uses listserv which may be a term
from Outlook Express. Sorry for causing the confusion.

When trying to setup a contact list, I have been successful in making
short lists of 10 to 20 addresses where each is added individually or
perhaps several at a time but the list I am working on now has 660
people and when copying and pasting that many it does not seem to create
the whole list. Also, when creating the list it will show 4 of each
person's name only one of which has the email address. The others have
street addresses or no information about the person. There is only one
card for each person In the contact list. I created the list from an
Excel file which was converted to a .csv file and then imported to
Evolution to setup the contact list.

The steps to that I am following are:
Select evolution contacts
Select mailing list (Personal List or other created list)
Select new contact list
In contact list editor:
Type name for List name
Click on Select
In Contact list Editor
Click on an address and Ctrl A
Click on Add
Return to contact list editor:
Left click add and ok

I hope this helps to clarify.

Thanks,
Scotty Michaelsen

Well yes, 9 MB of that is listed as shared, so it's only about 48MB
unique resident.

I'm using Edgy on this laptop.

I'm not entirely sure how panel applets are launched, exactly. Can I
just run valgrind gweather-applet on its own, or is there some panel
applet harness I need to plug into?

I HUPped the applet shortly after filing this, so if it's a matter of
attaching to a running process it may need to wait another few days
before the situation asserts itself again.

[Bug 77466] Re: Evolution hang when click Send/Receive button

It's only the sending dialog that doesn't close, and usually not the

Send/Receive. No email can be sent until I shut down Evolution (which
