[Bug 91854] Cannot unmount volume: Cannot remove directory

2007-03-13 Thread Mika Fischer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

On current feisty, every time I unmount a USB disk drive that has no
partition label (i.e. gets mounted as /media/disk) I get an error popup
saying Cannot unmount volume twice and in the details: Cannot remove
directory.

The volume is unmounted after that and /media/disk also does not exist
anymore, so I;m not sure what directory the error message is referring
to...

This does not happen for volumes that have a partition label and get
mounted to /media/label...

Let me know if I can do anything else to help!

Anyways, rkaliss, good luck with Ubuntu. Here's one lesson for you:
always look at This report is a duplicate of bug #* header at the

[Bug 25931] Re: Failed to initalize HAL.

2007-03-13 Thread roberto
I am following this as I am having the same problems. I have checked the
/etc/rc2.d folder and I don't have a S20dbus file, no dbus file in that
folder at all.

I do have an @20dsub file in the /rc3.d folder I changed this to S12dbus
with on effect.

This problem is getting to the stage where I might just reinstall
Windows, much as I don't want to do that. ag

After playing around a bit, I found out that when reverting to a version
of yelp that worked before, the same crash appears. But when gnome-vfs2
is reverted to previous version (that means 2.17.91) , even yelp 2.18.0
starts fine. Maybe it is not a yelp issue (see Bug #91882 on gnome-

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 91716 ***

Concerning the issue with yelp, I understand the report to be marked as a
duplicate of Bug #91716. But if you read the above report again, latest
gnome-vfs2 breaks more than just yelp. Try out the following:
Klick on trash-applet - expected result: nautilus opening on trash: location.
This happens with gnome-vfs2 2.17.91, but not with 2.18.0!

[Bug 91588] Re: gnumeric-gtk suggests gnumeric-plugins-extra but is removed by it

2007-03-13 Thread Guido Conaldi
I was using Synaptic and what I found confusing is this:

If you select gnumeric-gtk, under its 'Mark Suggested for Installation'
you find gnumeric-plugin-extra. But when you select gnumeric-plugin-
extra, gnumeric-gdk gets either unselected or removed for gnumeric.

I guess this is not really a 'bug', but I found confusing that a package
suggests another one that in turn requires to remove the former.
Besides, as far as I can tell the description of gnumeric and gnumeric-gtk are
identical. This also for a newbie like me can be confusing when trying to
install gnumeric.

I hope this clarifies my report

[Bug 81227] Re: Logout screen appears twice [Feisty]

2007-03-13 Thread Peter Whittaker
Ralf, we should be able to detect the behavior you posit in comment#13.
Could you try this test and report back, please?

Open a terminal window

Run lshal -m

Press the keyboard power off key

The command lshal -m monitors for important events and device property
changes - the keycode event generated by pressing the poweroff button
should appear there.

If there are two events generated, both should be there

(To capture the output of lshal, you may need to copy and paste from the
terminal, or run it within script piping to a file or another process
does not seem to work, at least not for me - contact me directly if you
need assistance with script)

Re: [Bug 81227] Re: Logout screen appears twice [Feisty]

2007-03-13 Thread anubhavrakshit
On pressing power button this is the output

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ lshal -m

Start monitoring devicelist:
-
acpi_PWRF condition ButtonPressed = power
computer_logicaldev_input_0 condition ButtonPressed = power

On 3/13/07, Peter Whittaker [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
Ralf, we should be able to detect the behavior you posit in comment#13.
Could you try this test and report back, please?

 Open a terminal window

 Run lshal -m

Press the keyboard power off key

The command lshal -m monitors for important events and device property
changes - the keycode event generated by pressing the poweroff button
 should appear there.

If there are two events generated, both should be there

(To capture the output of lshal, you may need to copy and paste from the
terminal, or run it within script piping to a file or another process
does not seem to work, at least not for me - contact me directly if you
 need assistance with script)

[Bug 91667] System forders in Trash only under Gnome WM

2007-03-13 Thread muzah
Public bug reported:

I recently notice thas every forder (and related files) that normaly
compose the linux (ubuntu) system are displayed on the Trash only under
the icon access in Gnome WM.

If I look trought a console in .Trash folder, there is nothing, even in
root or user login.

I don't know what to do, and I don't want to destroy my system after
delete all these files. I think it's a Gnome WM bug only.

(sorry for my ugly english, I hope somebody understand what I try to
explain)

Version of Gnome : 2.17.92.

[Bug 91915] Re: [apport] gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV in strlen()

2007-03-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for your bug report. The crash looks like a memory corruption.
Could you try to get a valgrind log for it? (you can follow the
instructions from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind for that)
