[Bug 93613] Re: gnome-session: malloc() memory corruption
I've recently upgraded to fiesty from edgy, and I'm experiencing the same problem (on initial upgrade I wasn't experiencing this problem - about 3/4 days ago). I've tried the method of renaming gnome-session with a .real extension, and having a shell script running the following command as gnome-session in /usr/bin: #!/bin/bash G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck --leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.log /usr/bin/gnome-session.real $* I also found that running like this did not produce the crash. So I logged out and renamed the files back (leaving gnome-session and gnome- session.valgrind), then logged back in again via gdm. I'm getting the crash again! I'll try changing it back and logging in and out a few times, to see if I can reproduce it. In the meantime, here's the valgrind.log produced. ** Attachment added: valgrind.log http://librarian.launchpad.net/7098559/valgrind.log.12743 -- gnome-session: malloc() memory corruption https://launchpad.net/bugs/93613 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Dnia 01-04-2007, nie o godzinie 10:50 +, Sebastien Bacher napisał(a): Thanks for your bug report. The crash looks like a memory corruption. Could you try to get a valgrind log for it (you can follow the instructions from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind for that)? I've tried but I think there is no possibility of doing that. It crashes not every time and only after logging into system or ofter going out from standby mode (so i can't use valgrid). Whats more I've noticed that problems started to appear after loading to much activators to my panel (so that they didn't have enough space to appear). I have the same problem with char-table and gnome-schedule applet, but I can't say that those problems are connected. If you have any further questions do not hesitate to ask them. If only i could I'll answer them. [Bug 99752] New composite volume display freezes computer for several minutes
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libgnome-settings-daemon-dev Using the keyboard volume control keys to bring up the new composite volume display will OFTEN freeze the computer for several minutes, then unfreeze and work. This will ALWAYS happen when Totem is playing a video at the time. This problem doesn't occur when: metacity --replace has been run, and the old, non-composite GTK display is therefore used. When this problem occurs: * The volume level display does not come up * The active program becomes unresponsive * Most programs become unresponsive when switched to * Eventually, gnome-panel and compiz (ie/ Alt+Tab) are unresponsive * After about two minutes, everything unfreezes, and all key presses you have entered happen all at once.
