IMHO it should have been installed as a dependency of apport.

This file was too big for the Internet link I used at the moment of the

Therefore I will not be able to provide more information. Should I

[Bug 107748] Re: Evolution hangs temporarily, for periods of up to 5 or 10 minutes, since late in the Feisty development cycle

2007-05-14 Thread Oliver Elphick
I also have a problem with Evolution becoming unresponsive for 20-30
seconds but only on one of two machines.

The machine on which it occurs is running Feisty on a 64 bit dual core
processor:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3600+

This is a new install of Feisty

The other machine is a 32 bit processor: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 2800+
which was upgraded to Feisty from Edgy.

On the machine where it hangs, evolution is taking up to 101% CPU and
9.6% of memory. My evolution account uses a number of folders, some
nested, and filters to put mail in them automatically.

If you want debugging information, please let me know what would be
helpful.

[Bug 114612] Launchers from Gnome-panel disappear

2007-05-14 Thread Matej Vitasek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I use Ubuntu 7.04, automatic updates are on.

Sometimes, when I add a launcher to the Gnome-panel, it disappears
completely after restarting Gnome. Until then launcher works, displays
correct icon, etc.

It happened 3 times so far, twice with command java -jar somejar and
once with a link to my home folder.

Other launchers, such as Firefox, Thunderbird, Sim, etc stay in the
place and make no trouble.

Re: [Bug 107748] Re: Evolution hangs temporarily, for periods of up to 5 or 10 minutes, since late in the Feisty development cycle

2007-05-14 Thread Corne Kotze
Hi Oliver,

My problems stopped after I installed the latest Scalix connector.
We then tested Evo from another machine on Scalix, Exim and Zimbra and
it only hung on connection to the Scalix server when connecting via
IMAP.

So to us it seems that the problem is with connection to Scalix, this
only started after the upgrade to Scalix 11.0.4

Are you connecting to a Linux mail server or Windows Exchange server?
Are you connecting via pop or IMAP or with a connector?

On Mon, 2007-05-14 at 10:13 +, Oliver Elphick wrote:

I also have a problem with Evolution becoming unresponsive for 20-30

The machine on which it occurs is running Feisty on a 64 bit dual core
 processor:

This is a new install of Feisty

The other machine is a 32 bit processor: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 2800+
which was upgraded to Feisty from Edgy.

On the machine where it hangs, evolution is taking up to 101% CPU and
9.6% of memory. My evolution account uses a number of folders, some

If you want debugging information, please let me know what would be

Sebastien, I have a question about it.
This Bug was fixed April 20th in gnome-media upstream and in Fedora, few days
after its reporting to them.
Why so much time for Ubuntu to release the patch?

I just want to understand how bug fix process is planned, compared to
others.

Btw, freemind is a custom install. The installation did not go through

[Bug 97557] Re: In Feisty, Evolution doesn't remember online/offline mode

2007-05-14 Thread Steinar Bang
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 82335 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/82335

How have you determined that this is a duplicate of bug 82334? That bug
looks like it's related to leaving interface settings even when there is
no NICs connected, while this bug is releated to persisting the
offline/online setting of Evolution...?

(BTW I'm not denying that the bug is in network manager, or that they
are indeed the same. It's just that I'm unable to see the connection
from the two descriptions. So it's intended as a real question,
gathering information I may use for a workaround)

I'm seeing the behaviour I first would have reported as this bug's title
(ie. Evolution doesn't remember online/offline settings). At first I
saw it as releated to suspend/resume, but now I've determined it to be
caused by connecting to a new NIC.

Ie. when I connect to a new NIC (eg. by switching from a wired LAN
connection to a WLAN), an offline Evolution will be switched online, and
if it cannot connect to the Exchange web service it expects to find, pop
up the annoying password dialog.

Some information about my system, and bug:
 - The system is a Dell D610 laptop (Intel Pentium M, Broadcom WLAN)
 - I'm using network-manager, and have been using it since Breezy
 - I did not see the issue of an offline Evolution being set online (eg. when
resuming from a suspend) on Breezy
 - The system I'm using was originally installed as Breezy Badger in February
2006, upgraded to Dapper in July 2006, and upgraded first to Edgy, and then to
Feisty on May 4 and 5 2007

I haven't tried without network manager on Feisty, since that won't cut
it for me anyway. Currently I'm living with killing and restarting
Evolution.

only started after the upgrade to Scalix 11.0.4

Are you connecting to a Linux mail server or Windows Exchange server?
Are you connecting via pop or IMAP or with a connector?

My IMAP is Cyrus on a Debian machine (Etch). I'm not running Scalix at
all.

Until my machine died a week ago I was running i686 Debian unstable with
the latest Evolution, and I had no problems with that.

I can cause the problem by clicking Send/Receive. In the log on the
server, I see it open all the folders within 1 second. After that there
seems to be a pause of up to 2 minutes. Then communication resumes.

Further investigation leads me to believe that it is a caching/data
problem in evolution-data-server with saved searches/virtual folders.
If I exit evolution and then kill evolution-data-server, and then
restart evolution everything is fine. If I then start browsing back and
forth between saved search folders and real IMAP folders, doing a few
'Send/Receives' as well, after 20 or so changes of folder the
Send/Receive starts getting longer and longer until eventually it maxes
out for 10 minutes. I've written a little script on the desktop that I
run to kill e-d-s when it is annoying me too much.

Correction. This could be a genuine bug. (not RFE)

Could you mention the version of gdm and Gnome you are using.

[Bug 112642] Re: All Openoffice(GTK?) Save Dialogs are too small.

2007-05-14 Thread Tomi

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/75324

Yes, and I also think it affects all gtk save as dialogues, not only
openoffice.org, so another package is affected.
[FLAME ON]
I know that most of the devs use bash and vi, but this dialogue is annoying.
Ok, maybe there are some, who use extremely small screens, but if this is the
case a window-height maximum value should be added. But this way as it is now,
that you can only see 1 or 2 files in a directory, this window is absolutely
unfriendly and useless without resizing it every time; even for those who have
small screens !!

When my Evolution hangs, I can simply kill it -- leaving
evolution-data-server alone -- and start it up again, to get things back
in working order. This, again, makes me think there may be two (or
more) separate issues.
