** Description changed:

+ Ubuntu 6.06, Ubuntu 7.04

Something is wrong with the Sound Preferences dialog window. I don't
know if it's caused by a single bug.

- (1)The names of the sounds in the system sounds section don't match

- Siren doesn't sound like a siren, etc.
+ (1) The names of the sounds in the system sounds section don't match the

+ * Boing sounds like a clink
+ * Siren sounds like a rattle

+ * Beep sounds exactly the same as Clink.

- (2) the settings in this dialog window are ignored. For example, the log
- in sound is set to no sound but the default sound is still played
- every on log in.
+ (2) The sound choices are ignored anyway. For example, if the log in

[Bug 99858] Re: [nvidia-glx-new] Terminal will not successfully launch when SVideo is connected to TV

2007-05-19 Thread Sitsofe Wheeler
hardyn:
Can you do the following in a desktop that works:

1. Press the right mouse button over an empty area of the top panel. A menu
should appear, choose Add to panel...
2. Click on Custom Application Launcher.
3. Type
xterm
into the Name and Command boxes. Click OK. A new icon should appear in your
panel.
4. Click it and a black terminal window should appear.

Assuming this bit works, now connect up the TV-Out and repeat your
original steps but this time try and use this new icon to launch a
terminal.

[Bug 113266] Re: metacity doesn't launch

2007-05-19 Thread Joachim Noreiko
Today's experiments:
1. I booted my PC today -- metacity didn't launch.
2. I tried disabling the Sessions saving options, and logging out, and nack in:
metacity launches.
3. I installed the software update with the fix for Bug #106350, re-enabled
session saving, logged out and back in: metacity didn't launch.
4. I rebooted, metacity launched.

I suppose 3 is due to bad session data being left over from before the
upgrade?

[Bug 115574] Nautilus crashes randomly on feisty, when opening folders.

2007-05-19 Thread agostinomaurotto
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Randomly, when i open my home or parent folders, nautilus crashes, telling me
that i have to stop bonobo-server-activation service before being able to
respawn it.
Sometime it also crashes gnome-panel, this locks up keyboard and needs an hard
reboot to be fixed.
my system is a clean feisty install, its a pity is so much unstable worst than
the most borked windows install..
i noticed the longest spree i had w/o crashes is 10h, sometime the crash of
nautilus doesn't affect anything else but alot of swapping from hdd,
disappearing icons on desktop and so on..
sometime instead freezes things up totally random..
it started around 1 week ago, i think around 12-13/05/2007 i don't remember if
there was an update at that time..

Re: [Bug 115533] Re: spider solitare locked up at end of game, froze panel.

2007-05-19 Thread MarkB
Thanks for the quick followup. Please excuse me if my object naming
convention is rough, I'm new to Ubuntu.

I was playing the game AisleRiot Solitare Spider. I actually won a game.
At the end the gane the Spider window froze. I could not access the menus of
the Spider game, the Ubuntu menus (Application, Places, etc.) were like wise
frozen. I was able to switch to a different panel (lower right of screen).

After about 1 minute the system unfroze and presented me with a game
over popup.

I'm not familiar with the different log files to find the error messages.
I'm willing to look if given directions.

[Bug 115663] gnome dict applet does not work with scim

2007-05-19 Thread Michal Suchanek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

I was unable to type any complex characters in the gnome dictionary
applet even when scim is installed and working in other applications
(tried scim-anthy).

Since the applet already has setup for dictionaries that use complex
sctipts (Thai), this might be a problem for users wishing to use such
dictionaries.

[Bug 115670] Nautilus Search searches in wrong folder

2007-05-19 Thread morryis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I try to search for files in a specific directory. The problem is, Nautilus
does not search in the specified folder. I set the Nautilus sidebar to treeview
(or however the Baum-view is called in english), and have nautilus display a
certain folder. When I press STRG+F or click on the search-icon I would like
Nautilus to search for the search-expression in the active and shown folder,
not somewhere else. But Nautilus does not search in the active folder (in this
case on my USB-drive), but somewhere else, I think in the home-folder and
/usr/share/. It doesn't find the file I am looking for, though I can see that
there are files in the currently displayed folder that match with the search
string.
This is a very illogical behaviour for me. Nautilus should search by default in
the currently shown folder, not somewhere else. Or there should be the
possibility to define where to search.

Hi Tom,

Did you mean running this tool by typing this:

sudo gnome-session-properties

If so it doesn't solve the problem.

Thanks,

On 2/24/07, Tom Kravanja [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

The problem is that the directory .config/autostart/ is owned by root

Otherwise, launch gnome-session-properties as root and retry.

 I don't think is a bug though.
