[Bug 116912] Re: Free Space on Phone's SD Card Incorrect in Nautilus

2007-06-11 Thread James Henstridge
I've made the above change, which seems to work at the GNOME-VFS level:

 import gnomevfs
 bda = '00:0E:ED:...'
 def free_space(path):
... uri = gnomevfs.URI('obex://[%s]%s' % (bda, path))
... return gnomevfs.get_volume_free_space(uri)
...
 free_space('/')
4802560L
 free_space('/Images/')
4802560L
 free_space('/Memory%20card/')
26442752L

However, I am still seeing 4.6MB free space when browsing Memory card
in Nautilus, so there is probably something else I need to do to get it
working in Nautilus.

[Bug 116604] gnome-vfs is not well integrated

2007-06-11 Thread Mathijs Vogelzang
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When a remote location is mounted with the Connect to server... option, the
location shows up in the open/save dialogs of a number of apps and it can be
used just like the normal filesystem. However some applications (including
GNOME programs) don't know about this connection, and files cannot be opened or
saved (when doubleclicked in nautilus, errors occur).
I quickly tested an ssh connection and got the following:
real GNOME programs (totem, eog, gedit work fine)
archive-manager: nothing happens, remote locations don't show up in open dialog
evince: can open files, but not possible to save to remote locations
tomboy: cannot export HTML notes

other commonly used programs:
openoffice: a username/password dialog is shown, but doesn't work with the
correct data
firefox: don't know how to handle ssh://
GIMP: cannot open

This is very user-unfriendly. Maybe it's better to mount remote
locations through FUSE so that all programs can work with these network
connections?

Thanks for the immediate response.
I did install the .dbg files and also checked up at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace? Site. Unfortunately I could not proceed
further with the terminal not opening the line for password and just blinking
the cursor.
I am sorry that I could not get you backtrace and all I could do was to remove
evolution and forget the 134 email messages locked in the program along with my
address book.
I am now using Thunderbird for email. I liked evolution but it is indeed a pity
that I can not unlock from its frozen position.
With best regards

[Bug 116912] Re: Free Space on Phone's SD Card Incorrect in Nautilus

2007-06-11 Thread James Henstridge
Just tried restarting Nautilus again, and things started working.
Nautilus now shows 25.2MB free on the memory card, and it let me copy a
file to the memory card that wouldn't fit on the phone's memory.

So this bug will be fixed for the 0.3 release (provided you have a Nokia
phone, or one that provides the same data in folder listings).

Unless Ubuntu is deliberately diverging from Gnome here (and I don't know why

I agree with the previous comments that this is not a bug. However, it
should be considered to process the files being moved to the Trash to
see if the user has permissions to delete them, and throw an error if
the permissions do not allow it. But that could get complicated.

[Bug 119910] Gnome should remember panel order and state

2007-06-11 Thread Pander
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

When in Gnome you move the bottom panel the top of the screen the order
of the panel (from to to bottom) is first the panel with the start menu,
then the panel with the windows list. However, after a restart of Gnome
the order switched around which is unwanted behavior. Could Gnome
remember exactly how the panel order is?

When in Gnome you hide a panel via the hide buttons, the panel will be
shown after a restart of Gnome which is unwanted behavior. Could Gnome
remember exactly the hidden state of the panel?

Implementing these fixes will provide a more consistent behavior of
Gnome following user expectancies.

Both bugs are for Gnome 2.18.1 on Feisty.

[Bug 119448] All system files appear in trash applet

2007-06-11 Thread Alex
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi,

I'm using Feisty, with 2.6.20.16 kernel. Gnome-applets and Gnome-
applets-data versions: 2.18.0-0ubuntu1

Without any obvious reasons, my trash applet shows files that really
shouldn't be there:

Few days ago, I emptied my trash bin through the trash applet. Before I
noticed anything, 230Go of data were lost. That was the content, and
only the content, of my external hard disk.

I then reinstalled Feisty, only keeping my /home. It went fine for 24
hours or so.

Today the same thing happened. I just put my cursor over the trash
applet, and notice a huge amount of files. But this time, my WHOLE
system is in there. So I tried to open the trash applet but it wouldn't,
and I noticed that Nautilus was freezed. (killall nautilus didn't
help).

So I rebooted.

If I have a look at the ./trash from my /home or another partition,
there's nothing more in there that what should be, it looks fine, and I
can empty it normally.

Here is my post on Ubuntu forum:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=465004

And another video that might help:

http://dl.free.fr/17A5S89d/trashmadness.avi

Thanks,

Alex.

[Bug 119774] allow the use authenticated smb shares without editing /ect/fstab

2007-06-11 Thread Wladston Viana
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have a SAMBA server for my home. I've setup shares that are guest-
accessible, but are only writable by authenticated users.

On a windows box, it shows a prompt asking for the password - if it is
provided, the access is authenticated. If it isn't provided, it falls to
the guest access.

But, on a Ubuntu box, using nautilus to browse to network, it doesn't
ask for the password, and there are no options on Gnome GUI to set the
user/password to use when connecting to the share. The only way to
access the shares with the proper permission is editing the /etc/fstab
file, as said on the guide :
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MountWindowsSharesPermanently

The expected is to have a prompt when connecting, asking the password or
suggesting the use of guest account, or having a properties on the
server, where one can set the username/password to use.

** Affects: gnome-vfs2 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Confirmed

[Bug 119774] Re: allow the use authenticated smb shares without editing /ect/fstab

2007-06-11 Thread iGadget
I totally agree on this one. Integrating an Ubuntu desktop in an
existing Windows networking environment is simply painfull at the moment
and seriously slows Ubuntu adoption in a Windows-dominated world. And by
that, it's slowing progress on fixing bug #1. Confirmed.

[Bug 119886] Re: Evolution loses connection with microsoft exchange server

2007-06-11 Thread iGadget
I've experienced similar errors when connecting to the exchange 2003
server at work. Especially when trying to browse the contacts stored in
the Exchange database (this worked a lot better in Edgy!). Confirmed.

[Bug 119891] Re: choppy video playback

2007-06-11 Thread iGadget
This could be anything... badly encoded video files, poor hardware
support, codec problems... Please provide more info (system specs /
videocard + used driver) and perhaps upload a _small_ sample of the
problematic file or put it on a public server where we can download it
to check for ourselves.
