[Bug 129879] login picture doesn't show up
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm Problem: Login picture of new user does not show up in login screen. Details: 1. Live-CD version of Ubuntu Feisty (7.04). Steps for reproducibility: Boot from the CD. System - Administration - Login Window Local - Happy Gnome with Browser - Close System - Administration - Users and Groups Add User - created Desktop user with the name user1 CTRL+ALT+Backspace Login to user1 System - Preferences - About me Chose baseball.png from /usr/share/pixmaps/faces/ Logged out. Picture did not show up. Possible reasons: I read in some various places of the web, including Redhat and fedora areas, that this is a bug with gdm. It seems like people tried fixing it then upgrading the version, but I've noticed that users persist to have this problem with the updated version. [Bug 93381] Re: [Feisty] Name column width in nautilus
Upstream update: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419343#c5 I've committed a patch that restores the old column autosizing behaviour, while keeping the ellipsization of the column. I think it's the best compromise right now, since I think the intent of the change was not make the initial filename column size hard-wired, but to get ellipsization applied to it. I know the old behaviour is not always ideal (if you have a folder with single long filename for example), but nobody really complained about it. The expandable-column-based approach looks promising, but behaves quirky with a stock gtk+ as long as bug 316087 is not fixed. 2007-08-01 Martin Wehner [EMAIL PROTECTED] * libnautilus-private/Makefile.am: * libnautilus-private/nautilus-cell-renderer-text-ellipsized.c: * libnautilus-private/nautilus-cell-renderer-text-ellipsized.h: * src/file-manager/fm-list-view.c: (create_and_set_up_tree_view): Use a custom cell renderer for the filename column which applies ellipsization but reports its size based on the actual width of the text to be rendered. [Bug 79030] Re: gnome-video-thumbnailer uses all available CPU power when using bittorrent
I can confirm this for Feisty. This is not a Bittorrent problem. It is general since it happens for every video file which is downloaded at the moment and which is shown in Nautilus. I have this problem with DownThemAll (Firefox plugin) too and the Thumbnailer uses 100% CPU and lets my fan run very loud. [Bug 129904] lockdown settings not locking ability to lock screen
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver I have the below settings in a lab, to lock the environment down, to prevent screen locking and user switching and other bad habits in this context. It is all mandatory gnome settings. In the logout dialogue there is only the logout option. In the system menu there is no lock screen. In the screensaver preferences these things are greyed out. However, the ctl- alt-l default key is still able to lock the screen (or running gnome- screensaver -l). I'm assuming gnome lockdown settings (disable_lock_screen) should affect gnome-screensaver too? [Bug 124440] gnome needs a way to manipulate scroll speed
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This has been driving me nuts for a while now. The scroll wheel on my desktop mouse (it's an MS wireless optical mouse model 1008) scrolls rather fast. Instead of moving a few lines, it scrolls half a page or more with a very gentle scroll. The bluetooth mouse I use with my laptop does not do this so it's probably somewhat hardware specific. However, I'm wondering if there is a way to modify the speed or sensitivity. I found an answer here from about a year ago (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/1339) that suggests there isn't a way but I'm wondering if anything has changed since then. [Bug 129958] xchat-gnome crashes after entering a nickserv password into a network dialog
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xchat-gnome When I was in the Preferences, I selected a server and clicked Edit. I entered a nickserv password and clicked close. But then, xchat-gnome abruptly closed out. I asked someone what my quit message was and they told me it said Input/output error. [Bug 6290] Re: use /dev/video1394, not /dev/raw1394
Jeff, that's evidently a very old version of dvgrab. File a bug for the dvgrab package --- it should be updated to version 2.1. Yes, the dv1394 driver will eventually vanish. But there is no date set for its removal yet; it depends on how fast the new alternative FireWire stack which was merged in Linux 2.6.22 and the respective userland support will reach maturity. The unsupported isochronous request types in raw1394 that dvgrab 1.x can use alternatively to dvgrab1394 will be unavailable from Linux 2.6.23 onwards. Dvgrab 2.x as well as reasonably recent Kino versions use only supported libraw1394 calls. Dan, the link to dvgrab-2.1.tgz on the Download page at www.kinodv.org is mistakenly titled dvgrab-1.2.tar.gz. -- use /dev/video1394, not /dev/raw1394 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/6290 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
