[Bug 131658] [gutsy] totem browser-plugin makes firefox-granparadiso crash
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem Firefox Granparadiso (currently 3.0 alpha 7) crashes with missing symbols in totem plugin. Most of those could be fixed by adding -L/usr/lib/firefox -lxpcom (ie linking with Firefox 2 as usual) so at runtime, Firefox 3 also knows it has to load -lxpcom (but from its own /usr/lib/firefox-granparadiso following its own LD_LIBRARY_PATH). I have a working patch that does just that. After this patch, there's still one remaining missing symbol: nsMemory::Clone Problem is this symbol was in -lxpcom before, it is now only in libxpcomglue.a (which is in Firefox SDK that's now in firefox-granparadiso-dev in gutsy, but unfortunately not in firefox-dev). Instead of messing with compilation options, I thought it was better to not use that symbol, which is used only 3 times in the whole totem source tree. I'm made a second (working) patch. I hope you'll consider those patches so that firefox 3 users can also use totem plugin, like I do now. In the long term, it would be better to stop compiling against firefox- dev but use xulrunner sdk (that will be packaged hopefully soon by the MozillaTeam). patches follow. ** Affects: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [gutsy] totem browser-plugin makes firefox-granparadiso crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131658 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for totem in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 118745] Re: Font sizes in Gutsy are vulnerable to bad X.org DPI detection
Fwiw, bulletproof-x is just a failsafe mode for X, and wouldn't have any bearing on this issue. It sort of sounds like the issue here is that Gnome is guessing the correct dpi by looking at the refresh rates. Unfortunately, in most cases the refresh rates are themselves just guesses done by the xorg postinstall script when xresprobe fails to detect the card (which happens a lot). If this is indeed the case, then basing a guess on top of a guess is bound to lead to rather unpredictable failures. In talking with seb128 about this, it sounds like the best option for now is to go back to a hardcoded dpi setting. Assuming my hypothesis is correct, a couple workarounds to try would be to a) try running with no xorg.conf. b) try fixing the HorizSync and VertRefresh settings in the Monitor section of your xorg.conf (see your monitor for correct settings). No guarantees that this would fix things in all circumstances, but if they fix it in at least some, then that is added evidence that the core issue here is mis-detected refresh rates (which is bug 3731). -- Font sizes in Gutsy are vulnerable to bad X.org DPI detection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/118745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 64953] Re: Evolution resends old mail after power failure
I have not reported it upstream due to time constraints (and due to the fix I found and managed to cure my system). Basically, if the index file of Outbox gets screwed up (out of sync), this problem appears. The easy fix would be to zero the length of Outbox related files every time Evolution is sure that it has succesfully sent out all pending mail. This way, the problem would never show up. Otherwise deleting the index file manually will do. On Fri, 2007-08-10 at 13:40 +, Pedro Villavicencio wrote: Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I would like to confirm this bug. I'm using Gutsy Tribe 4 with Desktop effects and nvidia restricted drivers. Back-traces attached soon. For evolution, to reproduce: apt-get install electric-fence sudo bash -l (as root) ulimit -c unlimited sudo -u me bash -l (as my user) LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libefence.so evolution then: gdb --core=core evolution to get the backtrace (had to install some -dbgsym packages of course). Re: [Bug 109127] Re: Startup Issues
Oddly enough it was a hardware issue involving my motherboard. I tried to install windows with the same problem. Some odd error caused the system to go into hibernate over and over again. Amazingly you could still operate within Ubuntu if you can get past the annoying error messages, you can't fix the issue in Windows (but I'm sure that doesn't surprise you) On 8/7/07, Pedro Villavicencio [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. are you still facing this problem?, thanks. ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs Status: New = Incomplete -- Startup Issues https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109127 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- Startup Issues https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109127 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
