[Bug 25931] Re: Failed to initalize HAL.
hi paul j here. i am running gutsy tribe 5. my startup would run and then drop into text mode at Starting system tools backends system tools backends. machine would then hang for 2-3 minutes gdm would start and as soon as desktop loaded Failed to initialize HAL. i looked around and found dbus and hal starting as S12dbus and S12hal in /etc/rc2.d/. i also saw in upstart info that hal is dependent on dbus so i changed hal to S13hal and gdm to S14gdm in /etc/rc2.d/ by deleting links and relinking. everything is fine now. i dont know if this helpful or correct. i hope it is helpful -- Failed to initalize HAL. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/25931 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 138533] nautilus panels are not clickable after login
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus For about 2-4 minutes after I logon both the top menu (applications etc) and the bottom one (virtual desktop) are not accessible to me - if I click on them nothing happens. [Bug 13199] Re: Drag n' Drop directories from File-Roller is somewhat tricky
I have tested nautilus + file-roller patch with file-roller version 2.19.92. Dnd to smb or ssh share does _not_ work! Before applying file-roller patch (only nautilus patch), I got an error/warning that extraction to this share (smb or ssh) is not possible. [Bug 138586] Gnometris controls very unresponsive when keys are held down
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-games Play gnometris, and get to around level 3 or 4. This bug is easier to see at higher levels. Use the move keys by holding them down. The resulting behavior is very frustrating - the block will move in spurts, and continue to move after you let go of the key. Worse still, it becomes impossible to move the block all the way to the side before it declines several rows, making it literally impossible to place a block in the upper right corners of the board as the level increases. Regardless, even basic play becomes frustrating like this at a fairly early level. So... Jérôme. can you make me a favour and tell the gnome guy or ephy guy from my part: are you joking at me???. seriously. [Bug 138629] playing a CD on random does not play all tracks
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox I loaded a CD, and started playing it with Rhythmbox. Initially it was on repeat + shuffle. After playing 3 tracks, I turned off repeat. Rhythmbox (randomly) played one of those three tracks, and I skipped it (since I'd just heard it). I then listened to the CD until Rhythmbox stopped playing. I looked at the play count for the CD, and one track was never played, while all the other tracks had a play count of 1. ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- playing a CD on random does not play all tracks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138629 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 138651] Re: evince doesn't display pdf as it should - low quality pdf font
Cool Pedro. Check these screen shots out: The text is grainy/broken on evince. (No, it's nothing to do with the png encoding of the screenshots I uploaded, the difference is as it looks on my screen) The evince shots show the incorrect displaying of the document I am refering to.
