[Bug 147978] task bar does not appear

2007-10-02 Thread Bart Cramer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

When I launched Ubuntu 7.10 beta, using Acer Aspire 5612WLMi, updated

I clicked on it (i.e. when it gets focus) it appeared immediately, and
functioned properly after. I guess one show() command is missing there
somewhere.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 147943 ***

I have the same problem. Same configuration. I think that it comes from
a bad compiz configuration that puts the panel window in a lower level
than the desktop window. So maybe even users that doesn't use ati have
the same problem. So if there's anyone that uses nVidia or Intel cards
with xgl (not aiglx, that may solve the problem), please report. At
least to understand where the problem comes from. Any help is
apreciated.

[Bug 116236] Re: evince shows a mostly blank pdf

2007-10-02 Thread sam tygier
this is still happening.

it is possible that two bugs have become muddled here
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8399
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9846

but both of those are open upstream.

there are many pdfs that still do not display after libcairo (1.4.10-1ubuntu4)
http://www.studentenwerk-dresden.de/docs/wohnen/gaestehaus_flyer200611.pdf
http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/files/pdfs/climate/howtosavetheclimatepers.pdf
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9611234/nytimes-firefox-final.pdf

i think its right to raise the importance. this breaks rendering of many
pdfs in a core app.

[Bug 134313] Re: pdfimages produces inverted image for black white image

2007-10-02 Thread Yves-Antoine
This behavior can be reproduced with the GIMP :
  - Open the attached file test.gif in the GIMP :
  - Save it as test.pbm, choosing raw data formatting.
  - Close the image window
  - Open the previously saved file test.pbm
  - The image is inverted

I confirm the behavior with pdfimages included in package poppler-utils

All of this is tested on an up to date Gutsy as of 2nd of October 2007
gimp 2.4.0~rc1-3ubuntu2
poppler-utils 0.6-0ubuntu1

gimp and poppler-utils should be added to the list of affected packages.

[Bug 144326] Re: MASTER firefox crashed on print preview [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]

2007-10-02 Thread Alexander Sack
gtk 2.12 introduced gdk_window_is_toplevel_frozen (window) and makes use
of it in gdk_window_process_all_updates; this introduces crashes when
there are NULL pointers in update_windows list; in addition
gdk_window_get_toplevel crashes when there is no TOPLEVEL ancestor.

Both cases appear to happen in this firefox print preview crash.

This patch adds some NULL checks to make gdkwindow more failsafe in
these cases.

I think that is not a duplicate of bug #129029. I occurred the same
problem. When i log into the gnome there is no gnome splash a there is
no login sound. When I log off the gnome there is no sound too. I
investigated that it may be connected with at-spi, becouse when I get
message that no supporting technologies are used, check if you have
at-spi installed (translated form polish so I don't know if it sounds
the same, but sense is not missed) then i can hear sound when logging
into gnome.

I have a question for afonic: Do you use Compiz Fusion? (especially from
Trevino repository - not officially supported)

That's because of the new nautilus tracker integration - The nautilus
tracker search is completely useless and I've no idea why its been added
to replace the genuinely useful search-in-folder capability you get when
you don't have tracker/beagle installed...

(this isn't a comment on tracker btw, which I like and is useful with
its own search interface, but the integration of it in nautilus)

[Bug 56526] Re: GUI apps unmount multiple partitions when one is requested

2007-10-02 Thread ilias iliadis
I believe the problem is that:
The kernel or the responsible module does not trigger
the insert event
or the
unplugged event
ONLY when these events occur
but it just reports from time to time if a device is plugged in or is
unplugged.
This is destroying the major gain from the USB and plugnplay.
I think that USB hubs know and report to the system (through interrupt
mechanisms)
when a device is plugged in or unplugged.
So (I think) the module must say:
I softwarely unplugged that device or the x part of the device.
I will not raise the event that the device is plugged
until the user really (hardwarely) unplug the device
(unless of course the user want to softwarely plug again the device without
hardwarely unplug it first).

[Bug 147921] Re: Document Viewer cannot show .pdf files

Late breaking news:
The last update I did may have sort of fixed it - or at least I did something I
didn't before. When I click on a .pdf to open it it shows the grey screen as
usual, but as soon as I change from its default 400% zoom the document appears.

earlier. (Totally broken)

[Bug 146290] Re: gimp open from url doesn't work

2007-10-02 Thread Ori Avtalion
This is due to gimp-libcurl or gimp-gnomevfs not being installed.
Since Open Location is a basic feature, gimp should *depend* instead of
*recommend* gimp-libcurl | gimp-gnomevfs.

It's important to have libcurl first, since gnomevfs depends on gnome
libs, and wouldn't fit KDE users.
