opposite problem for me too. I have a usb disk with 2 partitions. One is FAT32 and one is NTFS They correctly get mounted when I plug the usb but when I try to unmount one of them it is re-mounted automatically. gtk 2.12 introduced gdk_window_is_toplevel_frozen (window) and makes use of it in gdk_window_process_all_updates; this introduces crashes when there are NULL pointers in update_windows list; in addition gdk_window_get_toplevel crashes when there is no TOPLEVEL ancestor. Both cases appear to happen in this firefox print preview crash. I believe the problem is that: The kernel or the responsible module does not trigger the insert event or the unplugged event ONLY when these events occur but it just reports from time to time if a device is plugged in or is unplugged. This is destroying the major gain from the USB and plugnplay. I think that USB hubs know and report to the system (through interrupt mechanisms) when a device is plugged in or unplugged. So (I think) the module must say: I softwarely unplugged that device or the x part of the device. Late breaking news: The last update I did may have sort of fixed it - or at least I did something I didn't before. When I click on a .pdf to open it it shows the grey screen as usual, but as soon as I change from its default 400% zoom the document appears. (The document is still there when I return to 400% zoom) This is still probably a bug, but a lot less severe than it looked earlier. This is due to gimp-libcurl or gimp-gnomevfs not being installed. Since Open Location is a basic feature, gimp should *depend* instead of *recommend* gimp-libcurl | gimp-gnomevfs.
