[Bug 155367] Re: Gnome Icon has on the right bottom an artefact
Hello, Further info with this screenshot. I have put a red line where the artefact appears. Re: [Bug 41335] Re: DVD playing is not working correctly with totem-gstreamer
Hi, Dvd autoplays fine, but brings up an error message if opened from File-Play Disk. Doesn't display subtitles or bring up any menus... After a whole year... I know it's not recommended, but I am afraid I am going to have to do what I always did before: Install totem-xine... :( well, I can't really comment on the topic, because I didn't dive into the depths of gstreamer/xine for a really long time. But I can say a few words on DVD playback. I really like VLC (Video Lan Client), so I've been using it. It does play DVDs with menu support (IIRC) once vlc and libdvdcss are installed. Also it's a rather slim media-player, so I like it ;-) Although I think, it doesn't integrate as well as gstreamer, so it's not really an option. [Bug 66104] Re: scim: input freezes in various applications under XIM mode
Ming and Arne: Thank your for the quick answers. Arne: OK, I installed the patch (or, more precisely: I added your two lines to my apt sources and then the automatic updater proposed to install new versions of libx11-6 and libx11-data, which I accepted) Some quick testing shows that I can probably use my linux (xubuntu 7.10) with scim now! Thunderbird does not get blocked every 2 minutes any more. Thanks! I'll tell you if old or new problems occur. Just a strange thing: Unlike other updates, the ppa versions keep showing in the automatic updater: Other updates, 2 entries, both wanting to upgrade to the now installed version: - libx11-6, X11 client-side library, from version 2:1.1.1-1ubuntu5~ppa1 to 2:1.1.1-1ubuntu5~ppa1 (Size: 592 KB) - libx11-data, X11 client-side library, from version 2:1.1.1-1ubuntu5~ppa1 to 2:1.1.1-1ubuntu5~ppa1 (Size: 201 KB) Is this something to worry about? Should I just delete the two entries from the apt sources list? [Bug 155733] metacity focus stealing prevention does not seem to be working at all
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity There are some other bugs reported about focus stealing in metacity, but this seems like a new thing: I've asked around and it seems that prevention of focus stealing worked in releases before 7.10 (gutsy). It does not seem to work for me at all. *Every* time any application opens a new window, it gets focus, even if I'm furiously typing into the previously active window. This is very annoying with some applications, such as update-manager, which open several dialog-type windows for progress bars and such. Since the whole update process happens relatively often, and can take minutes in total, this is almost completely preventing me from doing any useful work while it is going on. However, it also happens with, say, windows for plugged in USB sticks, browser windows (whether because the browser take tens of seconds to start up or popup windows on sites), and all other sorts of windows so far. ** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- metacity focus stealing prevention does not seem to be working at all https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155733 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 155732] Leaving long message in gnome-screensaver locks system
Public bug reported: Typing or pasting large amounts of text within the leave message box and pressing save cause the system to stop responding to user input, forcing a reboot. This can be tested by typing something in the message box and copying/pasting recursively though I have not narrowed down exactly how much text causes the crash. There ought to be a character limit and possibly a number of messages/second limit to avoid this situation. It could be suggested via a dialogue box that the message leaver (upon exceeding the above conditions) email the user instead (to an address supplied by the user at configuration time. Such emailing would have to be done from the message leaver's computer of course). If pasting was not allowed: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/146862 this bug would be harder to reproduce. ** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Leaving long message in gnome-screensaver locks system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155732 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
