[Bug 172997] Errors encountered in play list

2007-11-30 Thread Vern Wall
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I have 125 songs in a play list, all .m4a format. The player sometimes
will fail to play one or another song, with no indication of what the
error was. This happens when I make up a new list, or change the order
of a list that formerly played ok. I can find nothing wrong with the
file name, and I can play the file by itself. I move the offending song
name to a different place in the list and then it plays, although
another song might fail to play after such a move.

[Bug 108993] Re: gnome-keyring-manager requires non-empty password

2007-11-30 Thread Jerome Haltom
LEVIS,

Upstream has reopened the bug. I suspect eventually we'll end up with
the ability to enter a null password for the keyring.

As for the gnome-screensaver problem... yes I agree. Gnome screen saver
needs to properly use PAM to generate it's password prompts (or lack of
password prompts). If it is not doing so, a bug should be filed against
it or the related PAM module. Do you mind opening or pinpointing such a
bug?

[Bug 150471] Re: [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again

I think the /etc/gdm/PostSession/Default fix is acceptable for Gutsy

only issue I still have is that I can't run nautilus normally as a root

[Bug 173156] [hardy] DIGEST-MD5 does not work

2007-11-30 Thread Björn Torkelsson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I just upgraded to Hardy and running evolution and evolution-data-server
I can no longer connect to servers that uses DIGEST-MD5. It complains
with:

(evolution:20225): e-data-server-ui-WARNING **: Key file does not have
key 'imap:__torkel;[EMAIL PROTECTED]'

(evolution:20225): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_base64_encode: assertion `data !=
NULL' failed

It did work with evolution from gutsy. The remote server is a cyrus
imap.

Removing .gnome2_private/Evolution makes no difference.

Enabling debugging gives the following:

[Bug 26118] Re: Bad rendering (hinting) in Evince and Xpdf

2007-11-30 Thread Albert Cardona
Is this solved at all? As of today, I still see some pdf files -but not others
(how to tell the difference?) rendering improperly in evince.
When the text is selected, the text is suddenly smooth and nice; when
deselected, it's all sketchy and rough.

Also, many equations and punctuation chars disappear when selecting text
(an entirely different bug, I assume).

None of the above exist in kpdf. Only evince.

[Bug 160984] Re: gdm should not use locale settings from /etc/environment

2007-11-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
where is the environment configuration used? instead of describing what
debian is doing could you indicate what code is concerned?

That's what ubuntu is using

if [ -r /etc/environment ]; then
  if LANG=$(pam_getenv -l LANG); then
export LANG
  fiif [ -r /etc/environment ]; then
  if LANG=$(pam_getenv -l LANG); then
export LANG
  fi
  if LANGUAGE=$(pam_getenv -l LANGUAGE); then
export LANGUAGE
  fi

fi

  if LANGUAGE=$(pam_getenv -l LANGUAGE); then
export LANGUAGE
  fi

fi

which means pam_getenv is used, is that your issue?

Thank you for your comments. This does not appear to be a bug report and
we are closing it. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it
would make more sense to raise your question in the support tracker.

[Bug 164971] Re: Gnome freezes after moving or deleting many files

2007-11-30 Thread Max-Ulrich Farber
I turned off audio preview, and the bug happened again. So I can be
quite shure that it is not a problem of audio preview and that it has
probably nothing to do with Bug #125739.

Yet it was always after handling a lot of mp3-files that I did observe
the bug. Could it be possible that the files are opened for identifying
and not well closed afterwards?

(Would it be possible to alter the name of the Bug, for actually it is
not Gnome but Nautilus that freezes?)

Mahjong always starts in the fullscreen mode.
Nothing happens when I press F11.

When i select the second menu and exit fullscreen the screen flickers
for a moment, but its still full screen.
The sane thing happens when i clic the exit fullscreen icon in the

The menu items in the leftmost menu seems to work ok.

[Bug 172469] Re: Feature Request: Fullscreen view does not consider Fitts' law

2007-11-30 Thread Dhakir
Unfortunately I cannot find an easy way of printing a screenshot while
maintaining the mouse pointer on the screen and/or the highlighted
region. When I try using the PrtScr key, the cursor changes and the
previously highlighted button loses the focus.

Actually, it's quite simple to reproduce it: while in full screen mode,
mouse the mouse to the upper right corner (the very last pixel). Try
clicking, and you'll notice the button won't be activated. Then move one
pixel left and one pixel down, and the button will be highlighted,
indicating it can be activated. The Close button here is not the best
example, but the previous/next page buttons are more frequently used and
would benefit from this as well.

What seems to be a design feature to prevent accidental clicks, is
actually a design flaw, since it slows down users, according to Fitts'
law. It's very subtle and most developers believe this is just not
important, but considering it's relatively easy to change it's a detail
that adds up to the quality of the interface.

[Bug 173147] epiphany doesn't always display page's css correctly (64-bit only)

2007-11-30 Thread Mark Dillavou
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

Epiphany seems to randomly display pages incorrectly. These pages
normally display correctly in epiphany, but sometimes it looks like
epiphany is ignoring the page's css. Reloading the page will rarely fix
the problem, however, closing and reopening epiphany seems to always fix
this. I have only been able to reproduce this under 64-bit gutsy. My
32-bit gutsy machine doesn't have this problem. This problem seems to
happen a lot on last.fm and facebook, but occasionally happens on other
sites too.

[Bug 147298] Re: [Gutsy] AD198x Analog: microphone misconfigured

2007-11-30 Thread aleph42
[partiatly solved]
Found a mixer setting that worked:

1) open gnome-volume-control (in a terminal i guess; can't find it in menus)
2) Edit - Preference , and check all the unchecked box
3) Make sure there is no item with it's volume at zero, or an icon barred by a
red cross, including capture mux (in playback) and capture in recording.
4) test with sound recorder; if there is a problem, go back to
gnome-volume-control, in the option tab, and change the input source (for
me the right one was mic). Test for every input source.

I think that is fairly fool proof and should tell beginner what
tinkering with the mixer means.

After that, the sound recorder accepted to launch, and worked; I still
have the 'gconfaudiosrc ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink
profile=chat' error for the capture test, but 2 seconds or so after it
starts (and it works).
