[Bug 179353] [Hardy] Tracker and Deskbar icons very similar - warning

2007-12-30 Thread Nanley Chery
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tracker

Just to throw this out there. The Tracker and Deskbar Icons are very
similar. This has a chance to confuse new users. Maybe there should be
an icon review for Tracker and Deskbar.

[Bug 84007] Re: Cannot edit audio profiles without closing the list

2007-12-30 Thread Christian Niemeyer
The problem in Gutsy is, that you can't select pipelines in sound-juicer which
include xingmux.
They simply will not appear. This is the bug, I think. Though they are
available in gnome-audio-profiles-properties and active.

xingmux is pretty much needed to get correct metadata in VBR-mp3. The
only solution I found was switching to CBR-mp3 for a while.

This 'fix' sounds like a workaround. Why would I want messages marked

If this behaviour is opt-in in other clients, Evolution should at least
make this behaviour opt-out.

[Bug 179379] gedit taglists should be user specific

2007-12-30 Thread Tim
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

The taglist plugin allows to display in the sidepane a list of common
tags to insert into a file.

Currently, taglist files are saved under:
/usr/share/gedit-2/taglist

I suggest that it would be more convenient for users to save user specific
taglists at:
~/.gnome2/gedit/taglists

There should also be a repositore where one can share taglists with
others.

[Bug 179408] Syntax highlighting has problems with HTML script-Tag

2007-12-30 Thread Dennis Schulmeister
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

Hello,

first of all, thank you for reading this minor bug report.

I found a small glitch in gedit's html/php syntax highlighting. Consider
these two examples:

---Example 1, works like it should---
html
head
!-- some tags here --
script src=... type=... language=.../script
/head

body
!-- some other html tags here --
/body
/html

---Example 2, doesn't work like it should---
html
head
!-- some tags here --
script src=... type=... language=... /
/head

body
!-- some other html tags here --
/body
/html

---End of both examples---

The difference lies in the script-Tag. The version from example 2 is
valid xml. Though it might by invalid html, I'm not sure about this. The
problem is that gedit's syntax highlighting doesn't recognize the tag
correctly. Up until the occurrence of the script ... /-tag syntax
highlighting works like expected. But the rest of the text won't be
highlighted correctly.

Thank you for your patience. My best wishes to you for the upcomming new year.
Dennis

[Bug 179413] Group Properties Window Doesn't Show Group Members

2007-12-30 Thread Ross Peoples
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-desktop-environment

Going to System - Administration - Users and Groups, then clicking
Manage Groups button will bring up a list groups on the system. Clicking
any of those groups and clicking the Properties button shows the Group
Properties window with a checkable list of Group Members. However, users
that are members of the group are not checked, so there is no way to
know if a user is currently a member of a group. Putting a check next to
a user name, then clicking OK, and bringing up the properties window
again shows the user is still unchecked.

On a side note, the old way of adding users to groups was much better.
In the Users and Groups window, there should be a tab for Users and a
tab for Groups. It is, after all, named Users and Groups, so you should
be able to edit groups without having to open up another window inside
the User editor. The way it is now is very confusing.

[Bug 32466] Re: External disk trash not shown by trash applet

2007-12-30 Thread Josh T
I can confirm this bug is present in vfat volumes (memory sticks), when
I open the trash the deleted items appear there but the trash applet
says the trash is empty. For NTFS volumes when I delete an item the
trash applet does not say there is anything in trash and when I open the
trash none of the deleted items are there, and when I empty the trash
the deleted items remain in the .Trash-username directory on that
drive (32-bit Ubuntu 7.10)

[Bug 179413] Re: Group Properties Window Doesn't Show Group Members

2007-12-30 Thread Andrea Corbellini
I can see that it works only if the user name appears in the /etc/group file
near the group name, but are not considered GIDs.
For example, in my Ubuntu Box the user 'andrea' is considered a member of the
group 'admin' because in my /etc/group I have a line like this:
admin:x:110:andrea
I'm also member of the group 'andrea' because in my /etc/passwd my usar GID is
the same of the GID of my group one:
/etc/group: andrea:x:1000:
/etc/passwd: andrea:x:1000:1000:Andrea Corbellini,,,:/home/andrea:/bin/bash

In synthesis, it works partially on Hardy. Please, tell me if you can
confirm this happens also in Gutsy.

[Bug 62430] Re: rhythmbox doesn't do anything with .pls given on the command line

2007-12-30 Thread hdante
Hi,

I think I'm having the same problem (I'm too lazy to read all the
previous comments). I wan't to select a di.fm playlist file in my
browser and I expect that rhythmbox (or any other player) load the
playlist and start playing it (that is, a single click means start
playing the playlist). Instead the following happens:

 1) go to di.fm, click in the playlist
 2) firefox asks me to open rhythmbox, because it's associated with the pls file
 3) rhythmbox starts and nothing happens, no playlist loaded, no playlist
played (it even starts by default in the songs section, instead of the
radio section)
 4) if I click the playlist again, firefox asks me again to open rhythmbox
 5) this time, rhythmbox adds the playlist.
 6) then, I can click in some new entry and the music starts.

I'm using gutsy here, updated from feisty.

[Bug 178402] Re: [hardy alpha 2] missing language error

2007-12-30 Thread Bart Samwel
I saw this twice: first on an upgrade from Gutsy, but I've had to
reinstall because that upgrade went totally wrong (couldn't login
anymore at some point, no idea what was going on). Anyway, I've just had
the same problem on a fresh Hardy alpha 2 install. I don't remember
exactly what I did, but I think the only things I did were to install a
second language pack (Dutch) next to English, and to install the Dutch
keyboard layout (which is useless since no hardware exists that uses
that except typewriters, but that's for another report), and then reboot
and try to log in again. Perhaps I changed the default language from
English (US) to something else and then back again as well. I'm going to
check if this is fixed by the suggested fix and I'll report back.

[Bug 14597] Re: English Gimp help files are not installed by default

2007-12-30 Thread TomasHnyk
I recently installed Gutsy. When I booted to the system after
installation and went to systemadministrationlanguage support, it
immideatelly showed a dialog that there are packages missing for
complete language support (english) adn offered me to install these two:
openoffice.org-help-en-gb openoffice.org-l10n-en-us - I think gimp-help-
en could be added to that - or not?

I performed install when not connected, so I do not know if the packages
would not get installed if I were online, but if they did, then gimp-
help-en should be installed alongside them, right?

[Bug 139748] Re: poor handling of eSATA drives

2007-12-30 Thread mael
i found a workaround: the device can be removed using the sysfs:

source: SCSI - Hot add, remove, rescan of SCSI devices
http://www-941.ibm.com/collaboration/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=3625

in short:
1. umount all partitions from the device
2. find the right SCSI ID with cat /proc/scsi/scsi
3. replace the SCSI ID in the following command (use tab completion ;): echo 1
|sudo tee -a /sys/bus/scsi/drivers/sd/2\:0\:0\:0/delete

after this the devices is not listed anymore when executing fdisk -l.

is there a way to eject the device (/dev/sdc in my case) manually, so the
kernel doesn't try to access it anymore? removing it with hal-device -r udi
doesn't work completly: fdisk -l still shows the device and the error
described above still occours.
