[Bug 137247] Re: libpam-keyring broken on autologins

2008-01-12 Thread Leszek
This sounds much better. I assumed that both passwords should be blank
since you wrote blank (keyring) password and other password in blank..
Thanks for clarifying.

[Bug 182238] Problems: Ripping of Audio CDs to a network drive

2008-01-12 Thread Udo Eisenbarth
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sound-juicer

Hi,

While ripping of an audio CD to a local directory works fine, the program
(soundjuice 2.20.1) cannot rip to a network drive which can be selected in the
file selector. It produces an error message: invalid parameter.
I don't know if it has something to do with the access privileges of the
network drive although I can create new files in the destination directory.
This is the destination I want to rip my CDs to (as shown in sound juicer):
/Media/audo/mp3, fsg

Currently I have to create the files in a local directory an copy the data
afterwards to the desired location. A solution would be highly appreciated or
is there a way to further investigate the problem by myself?
Best regards,

Udo Eisenbarth.

[Bug 174088] Re: gnome-panel hangs

2008-01-12 Thread VijayR
I installed the gnome-panel-dbgsym package, and got this backtrace when
I set the preferences on the gnome-panel to show windows from all
workspaces. Based on further observation, it seems that the issue has to
do with something bad happening when notifications are sent to the
gnome-panel by apps. I have attached the stack traces, there doesn't
seem to be any more info though.

Sample output of top:

[Bug 182253] Evolution Mail crashes on Calendars

2008-01-12 Thread grisifrutti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Version: Evolution 2.12.1

Problem: All of a sudden I cannot open my calendar. The program just crashes
when I press the Calendars button.
The other tabs, eg. Mail, Contacts and so on, still work.

I remember I was copying/moving some movies and music from one harddrive to
another and wanted to look in my calendar in the meantime.
That's when the problem started. Evolution just crashed. and it still keeps
crashing from now on.

best regards
Patrik

[Bug 156765] Re: GIMP 2.4's new print dialog is disabled

2008-01-12 Thread Philipp Sadleder
Today, gutsy-updates/main contains the following update to gimp:

gimp (2.4.0~rc2-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * The gimp package now includes its own Print plug-in, and should
automatically remove the old gimp-print package that was provided by
Gutenprint. If you still want to use the extended Gutenprint Print
plug-in, please install the gimp-gutenprint package.

 -- Ari Pollak [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue, 18 Sep 2007 08:25:34 -0400

Unfortunately, the plug-in is simply not installed, /usr/lib/gimp/2.0
/plug-ins/print should be included in the gimp binary package.

[Bug 70535] Re: nautilus crashes when copying a 4G file on a vfat volume

2008-01-12 Thread Azalin
Will this bug be fixed in the next version of Ubuntu? In gutsy it is
still present. Trying to copy a file bigger in size then the filesystem
can handle (4gb on fat32 for instance) although enough space is
available will still make nautilus disappear and reappear shortly
afterwards. Not really a disaster, more of a minor annoyance. Would be
nice if this could be fixed. In the meantime, I will have to pay
attention that I don't copy files bigger then 4gb to filesystems that
don't support that (fat).

I am using Gutsy Gibbon with all updates applied and experienced the

would indeed be better to have nautilus present the user with the
message that a file of more then 4gb can not be copied to a fat
partition instead of crashing and restarting.

[Bug 182275] Nautilus points to the wrong box when saving a file

2008-01-12 Thread mabovo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Using GIMP to capture a screen and save it in a directory makes Nautilus
to open a window with noname selected in the file name box.

When I type the new file name the resulted action is executed in the
file type box instead of the file name box. Therefore Nautilus window
indicates the file name box as selected field but in fact it is pointing
to another direction, the file type box.

I consider it as a bug because the user is not advised to move the mouse
cursor before he starts to write the new file name.

In my opinion this interface should be like in the others OS, just start
typing the new file name and not requiring an intermediate action to be
executed.

[Bug 182253] Re: Evolution Mail crashes on Calendars

2008-01-12 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.
If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in
a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 158870] Re: Pause doesn't release sound interface for use by other apps

2008-01-12 Thread Paul Campbell
Running Hardy now. Rhythmbox still isn't entirely releasing the sound
interface.

I have two audio outputs available on my laptop. One is an external USB
sound device, my prefered audio output. Rhythmbox uses this okay. The
other output is the built in speakers, which I'd rather not use at all.

Example of what I'm still experiencing:
* play audio through flash applet in browser - sound comes through USB device
correctly
* close browser (or in firefox at least the tab that contained the flash applet)
* launch rhythmbox and play - sound comes through USB device correctly
* 'pause' rhythmbox
* play audio through flash applet in browser - sound comes through built in
speakers - wrong

In response to Paul Hambleton's question, at least one member of the

remove them from the Inbox ! Post N° 8 for those who read French :
http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1454647#p1454647

To avoid this, I have come up with a ...

[Bug 182317] spins after signing message

2008-01-12 Thread Brian J. Murrell
Public bug reported:

to) sign a message with gpg. The UI stops painting so it's stuck in a

[Bug 139368] Re: [gutsy] gconfd starts with session, but apps say that gconfd can't be contacted and user settings are not loaded

2008-01-12 Thread oskar
I seem to have exactly the same problem. It used to occur sporadically,
now I get it on almost every log-in. Logging out and in again sometimes
fixes it. This also effects the keyboard layout settings, and they can't
be changed back. By now I know where all the keys are on the US layout,
but it's still mildly annoying.

I see this is a 'new' bug, but I've already had this on Edgy. It only recently
started to happen frequently.
Adding the sleep section to dbus seems to help. I will report back if it
happens again.

The error message in Gnome is:

There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.

Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work
correctly.

The last error message was:

Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application
did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply,
the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log
in.
