Sorry for not making this clear: Gimp was already installed as well. As was Opera and okular, which also showed up as available applications once I had installed Gnome. These three applications were installed prior to installing f-spot, but still weren't picked up. I also double- checked that Gimp's entry in /usr/share/applications/gimp.desktop was correct, which it was. This is not a nautilus bug. I have the same problem in Hardy XUBUNTU which uses Thunar rather than Nautilus. But, it does use the gvfs as far as I know. It appears that this bug causes a lot of problem with some applications like Avant. In fact, my nautilus spatial is unusable, my collegua cannot use Avant navigator anymore. It seems to also be a problem with the task list applet when you choose to display the windows of all desktops. (see duplicate). I am having this problem with Gnome 2.22.1 running on Hardy. The FTP server is Serv-U FTPD for Winsock (Windows). I can connect to the server and view the first directory listing (ie. in the server root directory), but I am unable to transfer files and sometimes I can't browse further into the remote filesystem. Nautilus will typically hang entirely, or show an error message stating the server has closed the connection. I have used Wireshark to see the traffic exchange between my machine and the FTP server, and it is returning 550 - Too many users connected, try again later. Is there a way to limit Nautilus to X number of outgoing connections per server? yes, Thunderbird and many other IMAP clients are able to retrieve the correct headers from Gmail (either accidentally or by puspose). the whole thing depends on the way how the client requests the headers from the Gmail server. it turned out that using the ENVELOPE imap command works around this problem since GImap responds to such a request correctly. thunderbird has a hidden config option to force the ENVELOPE command. Exactly the same problem here. Fresh 8.04 Ubuntu install - fully updated as of today, 02 June. The only actions taken were: 1. Full update via Synaptic 2. Set static IP via Network Manager 3. Add machine to Active Directory domain using Likewise Open 4. Reboot Attempting to unlock Network Manager (or Users) results in the error message and a full desktop lock - only crtl-alt-bkspc works. Have tried reinstalling policykit - same problem. Have checked /etc/hosts and the default did not have machinename in the 127.0.0.1 line. Added machine name and retested. This problem is still there in the current hardy release. For me it occurs at 150%!
