[Bug 293207] Re: Conversion of existing mailboxes fails silently
I tried the ppa3 versions and didn't have any luck either (trying to restore in Intrepid from a backup made in Hardy). Do the folks who are upgrading directly from Hardy to Intrepid also have this issue? I did a fresh installation of Intrepid on a Macbook running VMWare Fusion and then tried to import the backup from a separate virtual machine I have been running with Hardy. Didn't work either from the standard packages or from the ones provided by hggdh. I'm surprised there aren't a lot of other complaints about this from other users. [Bug 301982] Re: [Intrepid] regression: only 4 volume levels with hotkeys
Ok, now I have the full understanding of the affected components: gnome-sound-properties was set to AlsaMixer as default mixer device (Intel 82801DB-ICH4) and ALL mixer tracks were selected. The track IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA allows only this 4 levels of control - so the mixer hotkeys (controlled by gnome-settings-daemon) just used the common determinator und could not use the more granular setting in /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/volume_step. All other tracks can be controlled in steps of 6%. Disabling the IEC958 track or changing to the pulseaudio mixer solved the problem as expected. But there is still the regression: why did the behaviour change between Hardy and Intrepid? BTW: the design is unintuitive - why is the volume_step not merged into /apps/gnome-volume-control and not exposed in the GUI? ... I will file a bug against gnome. -- [Intrepid] regression: only 4 volume levels with hotkeys https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/301982 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 302803] [NEW] Evolution does read winmail.dat
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Hi I've converted to Ubuntu from Windows but that doesn't mean everyone else has done so. Public bug reported: Clicking on Apply Permissions to Enclosed Files under the Permissions tab in a folders properties does not set the desired owner for all sub folders and files. However other permissions such as file access and folder access are set correctly. This is an annoyance as if a user is required to set the owner of a large number of files and/or folders the only alternative is to use chmod from the CLI! ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Nautilus owner permissions - does not set to sub dirs and files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/302800 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 302744] [NEW] Firefox doesn't remember its unmaximized size with metaciy
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: metacity This bug exists in both fedora 10 and ubuntu 8.10 which has Gnome 2.24. I believe this is a problem with metacity since it doesn't happen with compiz. An easy way to reproduce: 1. Make sure Metacity is the window-manager (ie. disable desktop effects) 2. Open firefox 3. Reduce the window size to cover only a part of the desktop. 3. Maximize firefox 4. Restart firefox 6. Firefox will start maximized but when you unmaximize it, it will still cover the whole desktop and not go back to its previous unmaximized size. I haven't noticed this with any other program yet but it's really annoying. I think it's this upstream bug: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=506472 It's also similar to these bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/120962 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/137479 My system is ubuntu 8.10 x86 with all the latest updates as of today. ** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Firefox doesn't remember its unmaximized size with metaciy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/302744 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 223812] Re: [hardy] Regression: powernowd no longer works with some chipsets
I see. According to you... * The fix is wrong (essentially because it makes the package do what description says). * Package description is wrong (apparently in order to support your previous assertion). * Package name is wrong too, it should be named anything-is-better- than-powernowd. * Original Debian package must be wrong also. They should be fixing it to accomodate your more accurate idea of right and wrong. What you are proposing is hijacking powernowd package for a purpose which would be better acomplished in other ways. We can have lots of text here, describing what the possible values are, and what they mean. /long /locale /schema /schemalist /gconfschemafile The following command in the terminal registers the schemas in the gconf database: sudo gconf-schemas --register /path/to/mytesting.schemas The following command in the terminal only partially removes the keys from the gconf database: sudo gconf-schemas --unregister /path/to/mytesting.schemas In fact, /schemas/apps/my_app and /apps/my_app remain listed in the gconf database. However, the command sudo gconf-schemas --register-all called after the unregister command, makes /schemas/apps/my_app and /apps/my_app disappear from the gconf database.
