[Bug 311982] Re: Array too big when printing large image

2009-01-30 Thread Peter Funk
Today I tried to print two 3449x2480 JPEG images using gthumb.
This failed with a very similar error
Error: /limitcheck in --array-- printed instead of the images.

Printing same sized images used to work on Hardy on the same printer.

The file that ended up in the /var/spool/cups directory now is a
22210129 bytes PDF-1.4 file, which I didn't want to attach here due
to its size.

Neither evince nor Adobe acroread had problems to display this
PDF file, so I assume this file is still correct and the cause of the
printing problem is not directly in gthumb.

Opening the PDF file copied from the cups spool in acroread and
printing it again with Adobe acroread did work around the problem.

But I added the project ``gthumb`` as affected to this bug report,
because users of gthumb might experience this as a bug in the
application and might find this information helpful.

[Bug 188132] Re: Gnome login hangs every time using XDMCP

2009-01-30 Thread kakaz
I try different options, and found the proper one, at least for Xming X
server on WinXP: You have to enable 16001 port on Windows firewall. I
enabled both UDP and TCP 16001 and after few seconds orange background
disappears and desktop appears. I also remove sound modules from memory
on Linux box,and disable ESD but I believe that this has no influence on
this issue.

[Bug 301201] Re: Won't play music after switching CDs

2009-01-30 Thread chris dock

Why can't I play the CD ? The problem is that it is almost as if some internal
value says that the CD isn't there or isn't ready. I press the play icon and
nothing happens, no error message, nothing. select another track and press
play nothing.

I did manage to work around this by selecting a norwegian radio station,
listening for a second or two, then switching back to the audio cd. At
that point, I was able to play the CD.

Harold, your phone is not the same as his USB stick, and is not the same
bug. Only recently has ObexFTP support been committed to the GVFS
backend, so it will likely show up in Jaunty, and is not a good
candidate for being backported.

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=519071 is the upstream bug.

Re: [Bug 311982] Re: Array too big when printing large image

2009-01-30 Thread Peter Funk
Hello Till,

Thank you very much for your immediate response. You wrote:
Peter, did you do all updates on your Intrepid system? The mentioned

check which Poppler version you have installed ...
Yes: I still had
  ii libpoppler3 0.8.7-1
on my computer. But adding intrepid-proposed to the package sources wasn't
sufficient to change that. I also had to use Package-Force Version in
synaptic to get the updated fixed version
  ii libpoppler3 0.8.7-1ubuntu0.1
installed. That solved the problem with printing larger images for me.
Thanks again!

[Bug 313439] Re: Opening a Java Archive (.JAR) file executes it regardless of the executable permission bit

2009-01-30 Thread Richard Seguin
It has been determined that mime types/file associations are causing
this issue. The same mechanism that opens .html files (which are not
executable) also executes .jar files as they are associated with java.
In order to specify which type of file should be executed by a mime
association would indeed fall under the category of feature request.
keep in mind that with this same feature request would come the issue of
some users not being able to load .html files or .pdf files or any other
file association based upon permissions if implemented.

Suggestion: if .jar files are a major issue for you, then you might want
to dis-associate them with java so you don't run into the issue of them
executing them when you double click on them.

Marking as wishlist as a result as there is currently no mechanism in
place to flag certain mime types as executable.

Is there anything on the notification area? seems you closed rhythmbox

could you check? and also try with another new user, thanks.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are
having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if
you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see

[Bug 3935] Re: Gettext support for gkeyfile when accessing .desktop files

2009-01-30 Thread Martin Pitt
This is the current OpenSUSE patch, which prefers the inline
translations over the ones acquired with gettext(). In hindsight, this
is a better approach, since it unbreaks local renaming of desktop files,
and is probably more palatable for upstreaming. It is also in line with
the recent similar change in gconf (bug 123025).

I'll port that over to Ubuntu and send it upstream.

This also requires a change in our cdbs' langpack.mk, to strip out the
translations from .desktop files.

[Bug 323137] [NEW] Copying to ipod files with large names

2009-01-30 Thread Juan Carlos Inostroza
Public bug reported:

On Rhythmbox 0.11.6 (Intrepid) :

When copying songs that have large names on the Album/Song title,
Rhythmbox asks to overwrite files if they match their first chars.

I.E.

Album : Monkey Island 2: Le Chuck's Revenge Disk 1
Titles : Talking with Jumbeaux LaFeet / Talking to Jojo Junior (2 different
songs)

Both files are not the same but when copying it to ipod, there's a
dialog message asking to overwrite a file.

Just stumbled upon this problem today. Will have a testcase later.

[Bug 323137] Re: Copying to ipod files with large names

2009-01-30 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Hey JCI!, could you also get a rhythmbox log? Just run rhythmbox as:
rhythmbox --debug rhythmbox-debug.txt perform the operation to
reproduce the issue and attach that resulting log file to the report,
thanks you. Cheers.

[Bug 323169] [NEW] doesgnomeapplet.Applet.get_popup_component not return useful object

2009-01-30 Thread Kjell Braden
Public bug reported:

gnomeapplet.Applet.get_popup_component does not return a useful object - none
of the BonoboUIComponent methods are available.

Can be reproduced by:
--
import gnomeapplet
dir(gnomeapplet.Applet.get_popup_component())
--
dir() should show the attributes bonobo.ui.Component has, but only shows the
gobject attributes.
