[Bug 502474] Re: rhythmbox should be able to export (and import) songs ratings
Well I think it's useful for the reporter for two resons: 1) so that he only has one place (launchpad) to track all the bugs he is subscribed apart from the fact they are upstreams or not upstreams bugs or they are posted to bugzilla.gnome or bugzilla.mozilla and so on (txs to launchpad for this functionality) 2) so that he has (expecially for not skilled users) the perception that is Ubuntu the responsible of bugs (as well as feature requests) as Mark Shuttleworth sayd in his post Ubuntu’s role in bug management for the whole free software stack (http://www.markshuttleworth.com/page/2). So if an Ubuntu user would report a bug he should only search for it on launchpad without the need to know that is an upstream bug and for that particular package he should post the issue on a separate bug management system that he should looking for. -- rhythmbox should be able to export (and import) songs ratings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/502474 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 463314] Re: gdm ignores timed/auto login on all but first greeter run
I don't use Mythbuntu, but I am encountering the same issue on a fresh install of Xubuntu. Based on my experience and those reported in the ubuntuforum.org thread previously by neutron68, it seems there are a few critical thing we have in common: *Nvidia video cards *user-selected screen resolution due to faulty auto-detected settings. *the presence of an xorg.conf file in liu of auto configuration by X *XFCE as the desktop environment (both Mythbuntu and Xubuntu uses XFCE) things that don't seem to matter: *monitor type/model (I have a ViewSonic CRT) *upgrade vs. install (I didn't upgrade as some here did) *OSS vs. proprietary X driver (I haven't used Nvidia's binary drivers) my xorg.conf file was auto generated with Xorg -configure. With some tweaks, I was able to eliminate one of the possible culprits (undetected monitor - my ViewSonic PF790 is now being recognized). Some of it contains code that were cited previously as possible solutions (device names/identifiers). Unfortunately it isn't working for me. My Kernel is up to date and so is everything else to the best of my knowledge. ** Also affects: xubuntu-desktop Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gdm ignores timed/auto login on all but first greeter run https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/463314 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 502863] [NEW] String DDS as first characters on text document makes gedit mark it as Direct Draw surface as mime-type instead of plain text document
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit If you type the string DDS gedit seems to change the mime-type of the document from plain text document to Direct Draw surface (I don't know why with that particular string). The question is that you cannot see this from nautilus properties but you have to open the document with gedit and you will see, on the top of the tab, a different icon from the one used for text documents. If you let the mouse pointer above it you will see a contextual info that says that the document has just Direct Draw surface mime-type. The strange thing is that if you open it through places - recent documents you obtain another error (Could not open recently used document file:///home/marcop/Documents/info/test.txt could not find a suitable application) that says that gnome cannot find a suitable application to open the text file (but the strange thing is that if you open it with nautilus the text document will be correctly opened with gedit even if with the changing of mime-type as described above). Thanks cement_head. As I am an absolute beginner I would greatly appreciate a few more guiding words: on https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/drivers-only which links should I open? or should I use the synaptic package manager (or other) instead to navigate to those drivers? Similarly, how do I find the FGLRX drivers you mention (which links to open, which buttons to press) ? Finally, how easily can this get messy and irreversible ? - Do I just need to remember which drivers I installed and can then simply uninstall them if I don't see the desired effect ? [Bug 502888] [NEW] bad colour on ls listing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-terminal See bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/coreutils/+bug/498212 summary if a directory is chmod o+w and you do an ls from the gnome terminal command line, the directory gets coloured blue text on dark green background, making it almost impossible to read. Suggest removing the green background stripe. Can be worked-around by unalias ls in every shell window, but would be better if it was actually fixed ;) /summary The coreutils bug referenced has been closed as won't fix as it only affects Gnome Terminal users. There is no debate that the colour combination used by ls for o+w directories, is very hard to read by most people. Having a directory as o+w isn't *necessarily* a Bad Thing - I certainly shouldn't be forced to chmod a directory just to be able to read its name! And this is a basic accessibility bug. [Bug 502904] [NEW] file:// URLs do not work any more
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: epiphany-browser Upgraded from Jaunty to Karmic last autumn, where web browser 2.26.1 was able to resolve file:// URLs. Now it is web browser 2.28.0 and file:// is not working any more. Was there a change in URL handling (extension, policy) without documentation I am able to find? Or is it simply a bug in the browser (which I don't believe since there are no complaints). [Bug 502474] Re: rhythmbox should be able to export (and import) songs ratings
What you say, Sebastien, is correct. I think the only pratical approach (I follow this for my reports) is to just start from Ubuntu. If an Ubuntu user find a bug he will report it on launchpad and then, if necessary, on upstream as well (or linking an existing bug from upstream to launchpad). This is ok for giving to the user the perception I spoke on post #2. Starting from upstream and, for example, theoretically, import all bug reports on launchpad could bring to an hard situation to manage, as you sayd. -- rhythmbox should be able to export (and import) songs ratings https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/502474 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 502020] Re: The notes system seems inconsistent
It seems pointless forwarding this report upstream as I have done some research now and found this problem goes back at least as far as 2005. Obviously it has very low priority and not enough people want it fixed. I doubt anybody is seriously using the file/directory notes system as it stands now. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
