[Bug 518306] [NEW] Some keyboard shortcuts stop working after reboot when using non-qwerty layout
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon When using Dvorak keymap, keyboard shortcuts that are handled by g-s-d and have a letter in them (e.g. super+w, launch browser) don't work when logging in. Resetting them either in Keyboard Shortcuts or gconf-editor makes them work again. This bug does not affect shortcuts handled by Metacity, hence I'm reporting it here and using the new custom shortcuts feature in Keyboard Shortcuts as a workaround. The problem is affecting gnome-settings-daemon 2.28.1-0ubuntu2 under Ubuntu 9.10 ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Some keyboard shortcuts stop working after reboot when using non-qwerty layout https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518306 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 514782] Re: brasero fails to recognise dvdrw drive and/or media
1 is correct -- but it seems to be the same as 2 since the dvdrw was erased from the right-click menu that pops up on the desktop in GNOME -- afaik, this invokes brasero? 2 was for media that wasn't blank -- Nautilus correctly mounted the media but brasero didn't seem to handle with the fact that the media was mounted -- until I dismounted it myself. This problem is intermittent -- about 90% of the time, brasero dismounts the media before writing -- just these few times it's gotten stuck -d On 6 February 2010 22:16, Draycen DeCator ddeca...@gmail.com wrote: Thank you, every bit of information is always of huge assistance! Since you said that you've had trouble with Brasero not recognizing discs in other situations, I'm not entirely sure that this bug is the same as the other one I found. In order to help me prepare this bug for viewing by a developer, could you please summarize all of the issues you have had with Brasero not recognizing media? What you've mentioned so far seems to be... 1. Brasero doesn't recognize a RW media after is has been erased, but other applications (K3b) do. 2. Brasero unreliably will fail to recognize blank media mounted by Nautilus 3. Brasero sometimes doesn't want to write to a media after it has just been erased using Brasero Do these sound correct? [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c ( ć instead of ç) when typing 'c
,+c produces ,c , I don't know what you mean. Anyway, there is no such thing as an accented c in portuguese or french. So I don't see why some potential tenths of millions of users should simply adapt themselves to a different keyboard layout for something that apparently involves only adding to the already more than 40 options two new layouts with a cedilla there. As I said, this is necessary for two layouts: UK-International with Dead Keys and USA-International with Dead-Keys If we had alternatives to these with cedilla the problem would be solved. There are many threads of desperate Brazilian users trying to fix their layouts in the web. I was willing to work on this myself, but I don't have the expertise to do so, and I wasn't able to recognise in which package the layouts are defined. -- cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518056 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 488495] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic - Wrong aspect ratio in movies.
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 on a Toshiba Satellite Laptop with 15 inch 16:9 screen (1280x800). Somehow Totem doesn't detect the right screen size and displays videos with a very strange aspect ratio (4:3 becomes more like 3:4, etc). When I change the screen size and change it back (system - preferences - screen), Totem works fine again, but I'll get the same problem after rebooting. Since xorg.conf is no longer used in Ubuntu 9.10, I searched for other screen settings and found monitors.xml in my home directory in .config. Inside are two tags (x and y) that are set to 0 and can be changed to 16 and 9 if you have a wide screen: monitors version=1 configuration cloneno/clone output name=VGA1 /output output name=LVDS1 vendorLPL/vendor product0x2a00/product serial0x/serial width1280/width height800/height rate60/rate x16/x y9/y rotationnormal/rotation reflect_xno/reflect_x reflect_yno/reflect_y primaryno/primary /output output name=TV1 /output /configuration /monitors This file is also changed after using the GUI to change your screen settings. So, be careful. After editing this file and rebooting, Totem worked fine. Of course I tried a lot to fix this. [Bug 148565] Re: Alacarte menu changes do not change applications menu item.
This bug affects ALL applications installed through wine (ie by running a setup.exe) Wine creates desktop files like this: ~/.local/share/applications/wine/Programs/Spotify.desktop These show up in the gnome menu, but if you try to edit them using the menu editor, it resaves them as: ~/.local/share/applications/wine-Programs-Spotify.desktop But the gnome menu still gives priority to the original file, thus the changes do not actually affect the menu. [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c ( ć instead of ç) when typing 'c
Yes, one can change that by changing the immodules definition (this was described in the first post). For us Brazilians it would be nice if the default 'c sequence resulted in a cedilla, for french people certainly it would be nice as well. Languages from the east europe, however, have accented cs. That is why I was suggesting that a variant of these layouts should be included instead of changing the current ones to a different default. Alternatively, one could have a layout customization option for this, as one can, for instance, define an eurosign for some keys. But I think this would be harder to implement, isn't it? Again, for us Brazilians and for French people, the change in the default output character for 'c in the UK-Intl-with_dead_keys and US-Intl-with_dead_keys layouts would be enough. Is this feasible? [Bug 148565] Re: Alacarte menu changes do not change applications menu item.
Reopening on alacarte and adding gnome-main-menu. Regardless of whether wine is at fault for making the desktop files wrong in the first place, the actual issue of not being able to edit shortcuts is caused by inconsistency between these two programs. gnome-main-menu prefers to show the .desktops from the subdirectory, but alacarte only save edits to the flat versions.
