this happens mostly for those who wants to package it and DESTDIR is used and

Ionut;

I think you did
# ./configure --prefix=/build/pkg/usr/
# make make install

and then wanted to move/copy the links that were made, but they were
absolute rather than relative links, so this did not work?

If I understand correctly, I can fix this in the next release, or
perhaps a point release.

[Bug 740815]

2011-04-10 Thread Wes Garland
Interesting, that is not a configuration I've tested but I will add it
to my (very short) list for the next release.

In the meantime, I think you can change 891 and 892 of Makefile.in like
this to achieve the desired outcome:

891 ln -s $(notdir $(SHLIB_EXACT_VER)) $(SHLIB_ABI_VER)
892 ln -s $(notdir $(SHLIB_ABI_VER)) $(SHLIB_ANY_VER)

This would give relative links instead of absolute links, which is the
correct behaviour, right?

Wes

[Bug 756393] Re: Using GTK+ 2.x and GTK+ 3 in the same process is not supported

2011-04-10 Thread Marcel Stimberg
Thank you for your bug report. I can't reproduce this problem on current
Natty. Do you possibly use the Gnome 3 PPA? Could you run apport-
collect 756393 in a terminal to attach information about dependencies
etc. to this bug? Thanks!

[Bug 607192] Re: Evolution crash ** (evolution:31513): CRITICAL **: categories_icon_theme_hack: assertion

2011-04-10 Thread mio75
I'm also getting this message after starting evolution from the command
line. Note that evolution does *not* crash, it seems to work normally
after issuing this message. This might be the reason there was no
.crash report here.

This happens after moving my home directory from an 10.04-x86 machine to
a new 10.10-amd64 installation, so it might be related to the existing
.evolution data directory from the previous version.

2011-04-10 Thread Sergio Spinatelli
Unfortunately (not really),after reinstalling it from source,it works (even
removing it and then reinstalling it from the repos does),so i think i must
have somehow corrupted a library or something like that..
Sorry for the useless bug report!

[Bug 756603] [NEW] excessive lag after typing password to switch from gdm to gnome on Ubuntu 10.10 x64

2011-04-10 Thread Marcelo Ruiz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

After login in, Ubuntu stays displaying the wallpaper for a long time before
displaying the gnome desktop.
Some people stated it is related to Ubuntu trying to find the floppy disk, and

the option to disable it.

Is gnome-applets really the right place for this (especially since

[Bug 260492] Re: opening a directory using an application change associations incorrectly

2011-04-10 Thread Mike Fairbank
I have just experienced these exact symptoms on my upto date version of
Ubuntu 10.10.

Any folder I opened from the places would immediately cause the entire
contents of that folder to be opened by media player.

I fixed the problem afterwards by editing
.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list as someone above recommended.

However it caused further dodgy problems on my system: The update
manager popped up and thought it was doing a partial upgrade. Update
manager also prompted me to do sudo apt-get install -f and sudo dpkg
--configure -a to clear things up, which worked eventually.

I would recommended that this bug be rated more seriously. It's still
present in ubuntu 10.10.

Leading up to my experience of this bug, I had been trying to open a
corrupted file in both VLC and Media Player, so maybe that was the
cause?

Good luck with fixing it.

[Bug 755243] Re: White flash

2011-04-10 Thread Jordan Durham
It's definitely reproducible. I've described the whole reproduction
process in the original bug report.

The white flash appears either when a brick is placed or a new one is
spawned. Either way, there's a flash when you use a brick. The flash
occurs while the T brick is in play, and it flashes in what appears to
be a random interval sequence.

Start a game and see if you can reproduce it. I hate to come across as
rude, but read the bug report next time. It's all there.

[Bug 756811] [NEW] nautilus crashes sporadically without any preceeding action

2011-04-10 Thread Sean Fenton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I was unable to run ubuntu-bug on nautilus. See apport bug 756783.

1)
Description: Ubuntu 10.10
Release: 10.10

2)
nautilus:
  Installed: 1:2.32.2-0ubuntu4~ppa171
  Candidate: 1:2.32.2-0ubuntu4~ppa171
  Version table:

3)
I expected Nautilus not to crash, especially when I wasn't doing anything.

4)
I left some windows open during my last session (I have Automatically remember
running applications when logging out enabled) when Nautilus crashed, it
took down all windows brought back up only the ones I'd left open last
session. The others I had opened since booting were not respawned.

I found this line in syslog: Apr 10 13:41:25 desktop kernel: [

[Bug 728803] Re: Ubuntu theme switches from partially broken to gnome default on VirtualBox guest

2011-04-10 Thread Yuvi Masory
I believe System76 has a fix to this. See src/misc.py in their driver in
version 2.6.1 here: http://planet76.com/repositories/

Here is the comment to their python function gnomeThemeRace:
On fast machines with nVidia graphics, a race condition causes the theme
to not apply.

A 2 second pause on gnome-settings start works around the bug

[Bug 548546] Re: Nautilus does not remove usb drive made with USB-Creator after unmounting it

2011-04-10 Thread Ayan George
I can still reproduce the bug under Maverick.

If one mounts a loopback filesystem under /media, things work fine.

Examining the gvfs code, it appears to explicitly ignores udisks
signals for mounts outside of /media.

See _g_unix_mount_point_guess_should_display() @ line 631 of
gvfs-1.6.4/monitor/gdu/ggduvolumemonitor.c -- notice that this function
is used in should_volume_be_ignored() and should_drive_be_ignored().

I've tried a patch to usb-creator that uses udisks --mount to mount the
temp drive under /media and it works fine under Maverick.

I'm still not familiar with all of the intricacies of how the mount and
device events get propagated to nautilus. Please correct me if I'm
wrong Martin.

[Bug 756829] [NEW] there should be a easy way to reach the configuration GUI in Natty Unity

2011-04-10 Thread PresuntoRJ
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I am not sure if gnome-control-center is installed by default on Natty
but it, or some similar package, should... and it should be stick to the
bar in the left from get go, cause there is no way for new users to
locate the Admin and Preferences icons like it used to in Ubuntu-Classic
(gnome), cause they cannot guess what to search for, and alphabetically
is NOT a good way to browse for them

gnome-control-center at least acts like a Control Panel (from Windows)
and have a familiar effect with the bonus of keeping the adjusts in
one place, unless the all over the place is the way to go for Ubuntu
now

[Bug 749776] Re: Nautilus won't start up and the desktop icons are frozen (can't be clicked)

2011-04-10 Thread Stephen Rees-Carter
I agree that it's a pretty important bug - I can't mount any
drives/network shares, which makes it impossible to do my development
work.

A work around I can use occasionally is:

1) Click on the nautilus launcher icon a couple of times
2) Wait until the grayed out windows appear
3) Right click on the launcher icon and select Quit
4) Confirm the Force Close and wait for all windows to disappear
5) Click on the launcher icon again, it should load a usable window

It only works occasionally, and relies upon the grayed out windows to
appear - which only appear some times.

[Bug 721547] Re: Music from Sansa Fuze 4gb not showing up in nautilus

2011-04-10 Thread Brittany Dunlap
I found the problem. It's not a problem with nautilus. It's a sansa
problem. I have to change the USB mode to MSC (I think that's the
correct one). M...-something. 3 letters. I don't have my sansa right
now to check. It's the last of the few options for USB settings in the
sansa itself.

You can close this report. Thank you.

Re: [Bug 548546] Re: Nautilus does not remove usb drive made with USB-Creator after unmounting it

2011-04-10 Thread Martin Pitt
Ayan George [2011-04-10 19:52 -]:
I've tried a patch to usb-creator that uses udisks --mount to mount the
temp drive under /media and it works fine under Maverick.

That might be a pointer to where the problem actually is, but I don't
think we should do this. As this is an internal helper mount, it
shouldn't be exposed to users in nautilus at all.

[Bug 635574] Re: screen brightness adjustment misses levels

2011-04-10 Thread Dawid M.
I have the same problem on Dell Inspiron 1525 (Intel GMA X3100) and
Ubuntu Maverick (10.10):

cat /proc/acpi/video/VID/LCD/brightness
levels: 12 24 36 48 60 72 84 100
current: 60

Most of the time you can't go directly from 72 to 60 etc. Brightness
usually jumps by 24. Though sometimes it increases or decreases by 12 as
it should always do. It's very inconsistent and hard to guess what logic
stands behind such behavior. Please help to fix this silly bug if you
can. Thanks :]
