Interesting, that is not a configuration I've tested but I will add it to my (very short) list for the next release. In the meantime, I think you can change 891 and 892 of Makefile.in like this to achieve the desired outcome: 891 ln -s $(notdir $(SHLIB_EXACT_VER)) $(SHLIB_ABI_VER) 892 ln -s $(notdir $(SHLIB_ABI_VER)) $(SHLIB_ANY_VER) This would give relative links instead of absolute links, which is the correct behaviour, right? [Bug 260492] Re: opening a directory using an application change associations incorrectly
I have just experienced these exact symptoms on my upto date version of Ubuntu 10.10. Any folder I opened from the places would immediately cause the entire contents of that folder to be opened by media player. I fixed the problem afterwards by editing .local/share/applications/mimeapps.list as someone above recommended. However it caused further dodgy problems on my system: The update manager popped up and thought it was doing a partial upgrade. Update manager also prompted me to do sudo apt-get install -f and sudo dpkg --configure -a to clear things up, which worked eventually. I would recommended that this bug be rated more seriously. It's still present in ubuntu 10.10. Leading up to my experience of this bug, I had been trying to open a corrupted file in both VLC and Media Player, so maybe that was the cause? It's definitely reproducible. I've described the whole reproduction process in the original bug report. The white flash appears either when a brick is placed or a new one is spawned. [Bug 548546] Re: Nautilus does not remove usb drive made with USB-Creator after unmounting it
I can still reproduce the bug under Maverick. If one mounts a loopback filesystem under /media, things work fine. Examining the gvfs code, it appears to explicitly ignores udisks signals for mounts outside of /media. See _g_unix_mount_point_guess_should_display() @ line 631 of gvfs-1.6.4/monitor/gdu/ggduvolumemonitor.c -- notice that this function is used in should_volume_be_ignored() and should_drive_be_ignored(). I've tried a patch to usb-creator that uses udisks --mount to mount the temp drive under /media and it works fine under Maverick. I'm still not familiar with all of the intricacies of how the mount and device events get propagated to nautilus. [Bug 749776] Re: Nautilus won't start up and the desktop icons are frozen (can't be clicked)
I agree that it's a pretty important bug - I can't mount any drives/network shares, which makes it impossible to do my development work. A work around I can use occasionally is: 1) Click on the nautilus launcher icon a couple of times 2) Wait until the grayed out windows appear 3) Right click on the launcher icon and select Quit 4) Confirm the Force Close and wait for all windows to disappear 5) Click on the launcher icon again, it should load a usable window It only works occasionally, and relies upon the grayed out windows to appear - which only appear some times. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/749776 Title: Nautilus won't start up and the desktop icons are frozen (can't be clicked) -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
