[Bug 1382977] [NEW] Default open with wrong

2014-10-19 Thread Elfy
Public bug reported:

A few files are defaulting to the wrong application. Updated Utopic
Xubuntu install

Currently

torrents are defaulting to open with Archive Manager

mp3's are currently defaulting to Easytag.

For mp3 /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache originally was
audio/x-mp3=parole.desktop

I have since installed Clementine, Soundconverter and Easytag in that
order.

mimeinfo.cache now shows

audio/x-mp3=easytag.desktop;parole.desktop;soundconverter.desktop;clementine.desktop;

removing all except clementine makes no difference to what shows on the
right click open with menu's

pdf's were defaulting to Gimp. I edited /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
to remove gimp which worked for that

[Bug 1183948] Re: Can not read/write files to walkman (MTP)

2014-10-19 Thread Jarno Suni
I have a similar problem with a Samsung smart phone in Ubuntu Studio
14.04. I don't use Nautilus, but I can copy files in Thunar file manager
from the device connected in MTP mode to local hard drive. However, I
can not open the same (source) files for reading by e.g. VLC. In
terminal I can cd to the directory under /run/user/ and ls there and see
I have is rw access, but I can not even copy the files by cp: cannot
open filename for reading: Operation not supported

[Bug 678421] Re: Error message for a faulty ~/.profile script

2014-10-19 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I made a try.

As regards a syntax error, it currently results in an interrupted login,
while other types of errors are silently ignored.

With my new merge proposal, a zenity/kdialog dialog is shown for all
types of errors in ~/.profile and friends, and the login is completed
(with a deficient configuration). They are also printed to ~/.xsession-
errors.

Please feel free to test it by installing lightdm from my PPA at
https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj/+archive/ubuntu/misc

[Bug 1081019] Re: Benchmark for disks always fails on 32 bit systems

2014-10-19 Thread Marius Mikučionis
The problem is that the benchmark code uses 32bit lseek(2) function.
It should either be replaced with lseek64(2), or define _FILE_OFFSET_BITS 64
Here is a (one-line) patch:
