[Bug 1849135] Re: Clicking Activities in the corner doesn't work

2020-01-29 Thread Daniel van Vugt
That's tricky then. I verified the upstream fix resolved the issue for
me and that the same fix is in the above proposed update. So any
remaining issue is one that I can't reproduce :(

Nautilus upstream decided to remove the handling of the desktop, a new

that feature but it's incomplete compared to the old code. Reassigning
to gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons

[Bug 1853357] Re: display (whole computer?) hangs when I attempt to use DisplayLink with Wayland

2020-01-29 Thread Jonathan Kamens
Sorry, I'm usually remote from the office where I have the displaylink
adapter which has this problem, so I was not able to test until I got to
the office instead.

I installed all updates in eoan-proposed and rebooted and then tried
logging into a Wayland session and using the displaylink adapter, and
the behavior hasn't changed: my display and perhaps my whole computer
hangs within a minute or two of starting to use the displaylink adapter.
Changing the display configuration consistently triggers the hang. This
isn't fixed.

[Bug 1861310] [NEW] Overlay with shortcut numbers not showing on dock

2020-01-29 Thread Ricardo Abreu
Public bug reported:

The dock no longer shows the overlay with digits corresponding to
shortcuts to launch apps (with ). It stopped appearing after I
upgraded to Eoan.

The numbers are show neither with q nor by holding .
Unlike #1846718, no overlay appears when hitting +0 either (or
some other number), although the corresponding item is launched/focused.

I have tried changing a number of things in org.gnome.shell.extensions
.dash-to-dock, including setting hot-keys to false, as advised
[here](https://askubuntu.com/questions/1082772/keyboard-shortcut-for-
launching-application-from-dock-in-ubuntu-18). Alas, I couldn't make it
work.

Not sure if it matters, but this is the second upgrade (install was on
Cosmic originally). Here is the output of some commands that may be

[Bug 1861280] [NEW] Desktop icons reshuffled on addition & deletion

2020-01-29 Thread 2CV67
Public bug reported:

It may be a bad habit, but for years I have saved temporary files (stuff
I don't intend to keep long & some work in progress) to my desktop,
where I won't forget them & they are immediately available.

For years there was no problem - icons on the desktop stayed where they
were.

Since 19.10 things have gone crazy (might have started with 19.04 but I can't
check that now).
Nearly every time a new item is added or removed, some or all of the other
items get reshuffled on the desk!

I raised this issue on Ubuntu Forum, with details & screenshots (PLEASE LOOK)
here:
https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2435768

I have run comparison tests, using SHA-verified Live USB stick versions of
Ubuntu 18.04.3 & 19.10, which I suppose anybody else can duplicate.
My test was to successively "Save-as to desktop" 32 tiny LibO files called 01,
02, 03 etc in that order.
With 18.04.3, each item was positioned top-to-bottom in a column at left, then
in the next columns to the right after each column was full.
Once positioned, no icon moved.
With 19.10, icons were positioned clustered top-left but new columns were
started before previous columns were full.
Nearly every addition caused previous icons to be reshuffled.
Frequently the number of columns DIMINISHED when a new icon was added.

With 19.10, removing icons causes other items to reshuffle.
With 18.04.3, removing icons leaves a gap, which is filled by the next item
added.

I think the behaviour of 18.04.3 is perfect & the behaviour of 19.10 is
an unacceptable regression.

Jean, Edd an Florian:

Please open another bug since the crash you're getting is quite likely
different from this one.

The error relative to this bug
(https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/85b6b0b07aafeed5ae109ce89a813b77d3721684)

talking of a different crash.

Can you guys send me a crash trace following the instructions at

Also, have you verified to have installed the right *mutter* version?

[Bug 1849135] Re: Clicking Activities in the corner doesn't work

2020-01-29 Thread Treviño
I can confirm the bug isn't fixed, however, I please ask the SRU team to
don't consider this an update-failure not having a regression here, but
instead a non-fix.

So I think we can just mark it as verification-needed again and prepare
a proper fix for another update.

[Bug 1792085] Re: MTP not working/very slow on Bionic

2020-01-29 Thread Jarno Suni
Sebastien Bacher, I attach the output of 'LC_ALL=C journalctl -b'. I issued ls

on 11.39.34 and it took about 5 minutes to complete.

[Bug 1792085] Re: MTP not working/very slow on Bionic

2020-01-29 Thread Jarno Suni
It is odd that this slowness happens with some directories, but not with
others. For example it happens on a directory with 7 files; file names
consist of letters, '-', digits and '.'. ls command on that directory
takes about 5 minutes. But there are other directories (where there are
more or less files) with which there is no such delay. Do you have any
clue why is this?
