apps and shouldn't shock new users by feeling 5x faster that them…

[Bug 1922047]

2023-06-16 Thread Z-val
Hi, the person who originally implemented the scrolling with the wrong
mode only here :)

It's been a year since the original discussions and looks like everyone
has forgotten about it, oops :/

Was just talking with a friend who was trying Linux out and complained
about this:

> [scrolling] was just easily 5x worse in firefox. everything was too
fast and kept scrolling too long after releasing

Please do flip the default to `apz.gtk.kinetic_scroll.mode=2`,
*everyone* liked it in the Bug 1752862 discussion!

I would also suggest `apz.fling_friction=0.004-if-gtk`, and
`apz.gtk.kinetic_scroll.pixel_mode_multiplier=25` seems to be what
people have agreed on from that previous discussion, but those are
subtler and not nearly as crucial as the mode.

[Bug 1462692] [NEW] Ordering cycle on NetworkManager-wait-online.service/start

2015-06-06 Thread Edward Z. Yang
Public bug reported:

I recently rebooted my computer, and NetworkManager didn't come online.
Snooping dmesg revealed the problem:

NetworkManager.service/start
[ 16.371771] systemd[1]: Job NetworkManager.service/start deleted to break
ordering cycle starting with NetworkManager-wait-online.service/start

Manually running `sudo systemctl start NetworkManager` brought it back
online. But there shouldn't be an ordering cycle!

The problem seems to be that sockets wants cups, and then through a
hilarious chain of events we hit openafs-client which obviously needs
network. So for some reason, wants constraints are being honored too
strictly.

[Bug 492363]

2013-03-29 Thread Kcassidy-z
Most of the files that are recognised by file are mpeg version 1, layer
III with CRC protection, i.e. they have the hex string 0xFFFA at offset
0, rather than 0xFFFB.

One of the files, Timon__Pumbaa_-_Can_You_Feel_The_Love_Tonight, is an
mpeg version 2, layer III, without CRC protection, that is, it has
0xFFF3 at offset 0.

shared-mime-info is only matching 0xFFFB, or ID-3 type two tags in order
to identify MP3s. It should also check for:

0xFFFA - mpeg v1, layer III (CRC protection)
0xFFF2 - mpeg v2, layer III (CRC protection)
0xFFF3 - mpeg v2, layer III (no CRC protection)

I wonder would it be possible for this fix to be included in a future
version?

[Bug 799351] [NEW] network-manager does not connect Mobile-Broadband, but sakis3g and wvdial can connect

2011-06-19 Thread Martin Z
Public bug reported:

Problem:
On my system Network-Manager (version 0.8) cannot establish connection with my
Mobile-Broadband modem.
sakis3g (version 0.2.0e; http://www.sakis3g.org/)and wvdial are able to do it.
Windows version of mwconn (ixconn; version 0.4; http://www.mwconn.com) connects
without problems.

I have :
* uname -a
  Linux martin-laptop 2.6.32-32-generic #62-Ubuntu SMP Wed Apr 20 21:54:21 UTC
2011 i686 GNU/Linux
  with latest updates.
* GSM-Modem: Huawei E156G (now unlocked, in the past Three Austria)
* SIM Card from Yess (www.yess.at)

In the past I used the modem with a three sim card without problems. The new
sim card was working
with the delivered modem (Huawei E170) after I have deleted all Mobile
Broadband connections and
created a new one.

I dont know what modem-manager and network-manager are doing in background, but
I have expected that any sim card is working with an unlocked supported modem.

Below my gathered information. Maybe somebody finds something.

---

After reboot with connected modem:

Try to connect with network manager (Click on entry below Mobile

[Bug 649809] Re: Meerkat (10.10) does not apply theme properly

2011-02-06 Thread Lukas Z.
I suspect this problem to be connected with the overall performance of
the computer. There is most probably a race condition between gnome
settings and gnome, because as far as all posts go it can be easily
fixed by waiting for two seconds before trying to load gnome settings. I
have many computers with 10.10 running and only the best one (i7 820,
SSD) is having this problem, but not always, it is about 50/50.

2011-01-27 Thread Edward Z. Yang
I can also confirm this behavior from opening files in Nautilus. I
snooped the Totem source code but I didn't see anything suspicious:
maybe this is a bad interaction with glib or GTK and totem?

[Bug 652929] Re: maverick rc gnome-settings-dameon doesn't start

2010-11-14 Thread Lukas Z.
Hi,
I am experiencing same behavior on newly installed Ubuntu 10.10 AMD 64. First
time I have noticed this was after installation of NVidia drivers, but actually
it was the first time I have restarted the computer. Problem was appearing ever
sync irregularly.
Adding sleep 2 into the /etc/X11/Xsession.d/99x11-common_start script seems to
fix the problem so I suspect it to be some nasty race condition (thanks
Cuihtlauac).

[Bug 508552] Re: Unable to change options on passwordless login

2010-10-02 Thread Guram Z. Savinov
I post duplicate bug report #652813.
As I say in my post: I think
setting DE, language and layout must be independently of authentication
method(with password, without password).
Method of editing .dmrc is not good, because before you change it, you must
login, edit file, logout. I think it must be by clicking in gdm GUI, isn't it?

I try write a patch in source code, but need help: where in source code
execution is when we clicking to user, and where in source code checking
for group nopasswdlogin is?

2010-10-01 Thread Guram Z. Savinov
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

In latest version of gdm, when login without password(by adding to
nopasswdlogin group), it is impossible to set DE, language and layout, because
gdm login after click to user, without choice options. If login with password
instantly authentication it is possible to set DE, language and layout. I think
setting DE, language and layout must be independently of authentication
method(with password, without password).

[Bug 515363] Re: mythbuntu-control-centre assert failure: Gtk:ERROR:/build/buildd/gtk+2.0-2.19.4/gtk/gtkfilesystemmodel.c:330:node_set_visible: assertion failed: (row model-files-len)

2010-05-05 Thread z
I believe this has been reported upstream at
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=615576 as bug 615576. A fix
has been submitted:

filechooser: Fix a crash when removing files
The file removal code was not properly clearing the file=array index cache, so
later lookups into that cache would return invalid array indexes. The easiest
way to reproduce it is to create a directory with two files and deleting both
of them.

It is a one-line patch. I will attempt to confirm that it is fixed.

(also noted in geany when deleting an opened file from outside)

[Bug 489330] Re: ekiga networking failure

2009-12-18 Thread Zahari Z.
I also have the same version of Ekiga on Ubuntu 9.10 with updated kernel
Ubuntu 2.6.31-16 (generic). The sound device settings are by default and
I have also VoipCheap.com account.

Ekiga won't work! It registers though. I have done everything according
to the several how-to in Ubuntu forums I have found although I cannot
find where should I put the STUN server settings.

One reference for you:

1. I have tried Fedora 12 on the same laptop (Dell Latitude E6400) and I
have just entered the VoipCheap.com account settings as new account and
everything worked out of the box no other settings changed I just said
that Registrar is 'voipcheap.com' and user and password and all worked.
The issue is I cannot stand Fedora and all I can use for many years now
is Ubuntu.

2. If you register the same Voipcheap.com account on Twinkle where for
service you enter just 'voipcheap.com' on the same Ubuntu 9.10 where
Ekiga fails it works nicely. This is a work around and I have used
Twinkle with no ptoble for VoipCheap.com so far till I ran across that
Ekiga can be used too and I think Ekiga is much more simple and nice to
use then QT dependant Twinkle.

Thanks!

Hope you think this is important issue.

[Bug 368525] Re: Calendar module crash since jaunty update

2009-04-28 Thread Achim Z
After searching through the other Evolutino-Bugs I found a work-around
that worked for me:

in the file /home/.evolution/calender/local/systems/calender.ics
I deleted the last vevent which was a recurring event.

Looking at the other posts, recurring events seem to be the reason why
the Evolution Calender hangs. It seems that calender doesn't crash but
rather waits for something to happen. This would also explain the
futex_wait

Hope this is in some way helpfull.

Thanks for your work!!

Achim

Sure, you can drag and drop to list view in Thunar but it's simply too
lightweight for everyday use and I'd rather not open Thunar every time
I'd like to drag and drop out of a zip. Switching to icon view is a
time-waster and general annoyance.

[Bug 159311] Evolution does NOT open

2007-11-01 Thread Larry Z
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I am new to Ubuntu. To keep things simple, I try to start Evolution from
both the panel and Applications--Internet--Evolutions Mail and see
Starting Evolution Mail at the bottom of the screen for about 5 to 10
seconds, then it disappears. That's it. I looked at other questions but
do not see anything similar. I tried to open it in terminal and get
this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ evolution

(evolution-2.10:6620): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: instance of invalid non-
instantiatable type `(null)'

(evolution-2.10:6620): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_connect_data:
assertion `G_TYPE_CHECK_INSTANCE (instance)' failed

(evolution-2.10:6620): e-data-server-CRITICAL **: e_source_group_peek_base_uri:
assertion `E_IS_SOURCE_GROUP (group)' failed
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

On the more complicated side, I installed Ubuntu 7.04 the other day.
Everything worked fine. I saw some update and unfortunately updated to
Ubuntu 7.10 and things went wacky. A bunch of stuff no longer worked
right. Evolution would open but the send/receive was not operational. I
am not sure whether this was before or after the update.

I do not know if this may be relevant. I set Evolution to leave mail on
the server. I created a couple folders in my Evolution inbox and saved a
couple messages there. I went into Windows and retrieved my email there
where it gets deleted from the server. It may have been after that when
send/receive stopped working.

Anyway, there were too many other problems in 7.10. I uninstalled Ubuntu
in Windows and reinstalled 7.04 from wubi-save. Things appear to be
working OK now except that Evolution does not open. I believe it was
after the Ubuntu reinstallation that it would not open at all.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

[Bug 157926] window list is missing minimum / maximum size

2007-10-27 Thread deep-z
Public bug reported:

Recently upgraded to Gutsy with Gnome 2.20.0.

Everything's fine except one thing - minimum and maximum window list

Yes, there is. But unfortunatelly this feature is not compatible with this new

[Bug 135237] Evolution 2.10.1 produces: Error while Storing folder 'Inbox'. Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync.

2007-08-28 Thread deep-z
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Allready tried all possible solutions (removing index files, exporting and
importing mails from mbox format), but no luck to get rid of this annoying
error.
There are lots of people getting this error for a long time, but no working
solutions so far...
Also after deleting index file, all messages, wich are flaged as important,
loses their flags and read/unread status. Also these duplicate mails, when this
error happens. Imagine what is going on on a folder with 3k or more mail
messages.

Maybe the problem is in Evolution startup while messages index check (or
index rewriting), when at the same moment new mails are arriving and
therefore not having proper access to message index (mail counts and
status in Inbox by example). I have noticed, that this bug appears
mostly when Evolution is started and there is a new mail on server to
download. I think so, because it never happened to any other folder (at
least for me).

There are new version of Evolution (2.10.2), but it's available only on
Gutsy at the moment (I have Feisty Fawn 7.04). Maybe this bug is fixed
there, don't know.
