[Bug 602371] Re: Mounting drives with TrueCrypt duplicates the shown drives, one does not work

2010-10-21 Thread 836v
Hi Pedro,

In Ubuntu Maverick TrueCrypt mount works optimally.

When a container is mounted with TrueCrypt it appears as a new drive in
Places, called truecrypt1 or truecrypt7, etc., as per the number of slot
one chooses to mount the container.

It also appears in the desktop as a new drive with the same name
truecrypt1 or truecrypt2 ...

I tried opening three TrueCrypt containers at the time, and all are
shown properly and open when clicking on them; Along with the NTFS
partition, an USB hard disk and also an USB pendrive... Everything is
shown and working nicely.

There are not longer TrueCrypt duplicate mounts, and it all unmount also
OK; All mounted drives respond as expected by opening a window / showing
its content when clicking on them.

Further TrueCrypt has now in Ubuntu the same behavior than it has in
Windows (where the mounted TrueCrypt containers appear as new drives in
the explorer with names starting by truecrypt.

Regards,
Victor

** Description changed:

  Hi,

Sometimes when I drag and drop a file from desktop to my personal folder
it does not move it from the original location but it is just copied to
the destination folder. So, then I get 2 files in 2 locations. Only
opening the destination folder and trying it again it moves correctly
the file (i.e., copying it to new location AND erasing it from the old
location). This also happens moving files from and to other folders.

Otherwise, sending to the USB pendrive a folder with other files and
folders into it, it just copies the folder to the USB memory. . But it
is empty, without any of the files or other folders included on it.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 535097 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/535097

Hi,

Quickly I comment you that:

- No.. with the default ATI driver the brightness applet does not work too. I
have not installed the privative ATI driver.
- It happens with desktop effects enabled and also if it are disabled.
- I also cannot hover and use the middle roll on the mouse to raise/lower
brightness.. Still worse: Just hovering over the brightness applet makes the
whole computer to crash (it freezes). I then have to take off the power wire
(the laptop has not restart button).
- Perhaps a hint: If I try to change screen brightness directly at
gnome-power-preferences... Same thing, the whole computer also freezes just
hovering the cursor over its respective slide.

Same bug here.. Also in Lucid 64.

Changing the cursor theme only works if you disable the desktop effects.

(By the way, Congratulations to the Ubuntu Team for the new Lucid Lynx
version just released.. It looks awesome and has enhancements in many
other areas).

[Bug 531009] [NEW] Screensaver fails to start in Karmic

2010-03-02 Thread 836v
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

The screensaver fails to start (and so also fails the screen to turn-off)
consistently, at least once per day.

I have set the screensaver to start after 1 minute of not activity.

When starting Ubuntu the screensaver works fine.. But after 2 or 3 times that
the screensaver started,
it not longer starts again, nor then the screen switches off.

Then, if I go to screensaver preferences and I move the slide for it to start
after different minutes of not activity
it works again (even if I finally choose it to start after 1 minute evenly).

[Bug 523796] [NEW] Startup list does not save changes randomly

2010-02-18 Thread 836v
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

Hi,
gnome-session-properties sometimes fails saving changes in the Startup list.

As example, when adding a new launcher it does not save changes, or the
added application then fails to start with Ubuntu.

One has to try twice, three or more times or has to re-edit the new
launcher (even with the same info or parameters) for finally getting it
to go the correct way the next login.

Or, then, if one unchecks the box for some application not starting
automatically when Ubuntu does... it does not save the change and the
next time one opens the Startup list the box of such application
continues checked.

[Bug 390827] Re: Unrecoverable crash from sleeping, on HP 6735b with Ubuntu 9.04

2009-07-29 Thread 836v

Just to comment you that I went back to Ubuntu 9.04.

Again, everything was going just fine until a security update has
arrived, with new kernel 2.6.28-14, linux-restricted-modules-generic -
2.6.28.11.14, etc. And once restarting, the same quoted black screen
came up.

There is the same problem with this version of kernel, as well.

Fortunately, if at Grub I choose to start with the old kernel
2.6.28-13 everything goes Ok (I am writing this from such version of the
kernel).

Rgds,
Victor

[Bug 390827] Re: Unrecoverable crash from sleeping, on HP 6735b with Ubuntu 9.04

2009-07-16 Thread 836v
I am writing this by using the Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 2 liveCD.

Concerning the different steps to follow for debugging:

Step 1) in one terminal: No output.
Step 2) in another terminal: The output is somehow confusing, not because some
phrases are in Spanish -my first language- but, because gnome-power-cmd.sh it
is not there and it can't be installed:

ubu...@ubuntu:~$ gnome-power-cmd.sh suspend
The program 'gnome-power-cmd.sh' is currently not installed. You can install
it by typing:
sudo apt-get install gnome-power-manager
bash: gnome-power-cmd.sh: command not found
ubu...@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install gnome-power-manager
Leyendo lista de paquetes... Hecho
Creando árbol de dependencias
Leyendo la información de estado... Hecho
gnome-power-manager ya está en su versión más reciente.
0 actualizados, 0 se instalarán, 0 para eliminar y 0 no actualizados.
ubu...@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install gnome-power-cmd.sh
Leyendo lista de paquetes... Hecho
Creando árbol de dependencias
Leyendo la información de estado... Hecho
E: No se pudo encontrar el paquete gnome-power-cmd.sh
ubu...@ubuntu:~$

Regarding the output of dbus-monitor, I waited for some 10 minutes but
the computer does not try to sleep. I tried twice.

Otherwise, I attach you the gnome-power-bugreport file (I didn't find
the gpm.log).

[Bug 390827] Re: Unrecoverable crash from sleeping, on HP 6735b with Ubuntu 9.04

2009-07-13 Thread 836v
Thanks for your response, as well.

I have downloaded the alpha 2 version of Ubuntu 9.10 and I've burned it
into a cd.

It starts the live session Ok. Then, I have arranged for the laptop to
go to the bed within 6 minutes (the shortest time possible)... But, it
does not want to sleep; It seems the Karmic Koala has insomnia on live
session or in my laptop.

Now (jokes apart), when I had this problem with Ubuntu 9.04 I installed
Kubuntu 9.04. It works much better than previous versions of the KDE4
environment (KDE4 it's now very stable, almost as much as Gnome).

However, I noticed that there are 4 blocked updates which are: linux-
headers-generic - 2.6.28.11.15 (i386), linux-restricted-modules-generic
- 2.6.28.11.15 (i386), linux-generic - 2.6.28.11.15 (i386) and linux-
image-generic - 2.6.28.11.15 (i386).

Then, I made a:
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude full-upgrade
to install such blocked updates... AND, when I restarted the laptop it happened
the same thing than it happened with Ubuntu when trying to wake up. The laptop
restarted with Kubuntu until the point of the initial screen, then the same
fuzzy Kubuntu names and logos appeared in a black screen and... Nothing else,
again and again.

I then re-installed Kubuntu and now I just overlook the blocked updates.

So it happened the same thing with the 2 environments, although in
different situations.

I don't know if Ubuntu installed all the updates, although I didn't see
blocked updates in Ubuntu.

[Bug 390827] Re: Unrecoverable crash from sleeping, on HP 6735b with Ubuntu 9.04

2009-06-23 Thread 836v
The 2 fuzzy Ubuntu logos and other lines in the black screen that it
appear each time I try to start Ubuntu, it are the same ones that it
appeared the first time it crashed when waking up after sleeping.

It seems that the crashed waking-up configuration has been saved as the
default session.

Pls help.. because I can't start Ubuntu at all.

The Hardware: HP 6735b, AMD TurionX2 ZM80, 2Gb RAM, 160Gb hard drive.
Software: Ubuntu 9.04 i386.

[Bug 390827] [NEW] Unrecoverable crash from sleeping, on HP 6735b with Ubuntu 9.04

2009-06-22 Thread 836v
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I have had a whole crash when trying to wake up the laptop.

But the real problem it's that it does not work even restarting the
laptop, as if I push the start/stop button of the laptop (even if I
disconnect the power wire and then connect it again, then push the power
button of the laptop), it restarts Ubuntu but, when it is about to get
into the initial desktop screen, it freezes, again and once again, all
the times I try to start Ubuntu.

All the times, the following messages do appear:
Setting Advanced Power Management level to 0xfe (254)

It tries several times, then the whole thing freezes with a black screen
with some fuzzy Ubuntu names and logos.

Simply I can't get into Ubuntu anymore.
