[Bug 1894762] [NEW] file-roller does not unpack *.deb package

2020-09-07 Thread Jeffrey Walton
Public bug reported:

I'm working on Ubuntu 18.04 x86_64 fully patched with the 5.3.0-66
kernel. The machine has file-roller 3.28.0.

I'm trying to unpack a *.deb package. I double click on the *.deb
archive and it opens in file-roller. I then click the 'Extract' button
and select a directory. Finally, I click 'Extract' button again (in the
file picker).

file-roller only unpacks the _gpgbuilder file. It does not unpack
control.tar.xz, data.tar.xz, or debian-binary.

It does not matter whether I select 0 files in file picker, or all files
in file picker. file-roller only unpacks the one file.

If file-roller worked as expected, then I would expect to see
_gpgbuilder, control.tar.xz, data.tar.xz, or debian-binary in the
extraction directory.

The file I am trying to extract is Zoom's binary for Linux. It is
available from https://zoom.us/download. I want to disassemble the
program and maybe see what's going on under the hood.

[Bug 1890851] [NEW] Evolution ignores authentication changes; uses OAuth even after change

2020-08-07 Thread Jeffrey Walton
Public bug reported:

I'm working on Ubuntu 18.04, x86_64, fully patched. I installed
Evolution package 3.28.5-0ubuntu0.18.04.2. I'm trying to use Evolution
with my Gmail account. I've set up my [Evolution] application password
in Google security services. I have an app password for Evolution.

When I attempt to use Evolution for Gmail I am being prompted for OAuth
credentials. I cancel the OAuth prompt, I go to properties and then:

* Receiving Email -> check for supported types
* Receiving Email -> change to "password"
* Sending Email -> check for supported types
* Sending Email -> change to "login" (also tried "plain")

I then try to send and receive and I am prompted for the OAuth password.
Derp... Entering the [Evolution] application password results in a
failed login.

It is very frustrating that Evolution does not honor my settings.

[Bug 1741698] [NEW] DNS break after Artful/17.10 upgrade

2018-01-06 Thread Jeffrey Walton
Public bug reported:

I was running Zesty/17.04. I upgraded to Artful/17.10 over SSH using
upgrade-manager. Priot to upgrade everything worked fine using DHCP.
After reboot name resolution broke. I understand Systemd is now the
resolver.

A lot of people are suffering https://askubuntu.com/questions/966870
/dns-not-working-after-upgrade-17-04-to-17-10 . It looks like a mix of
Network Manager problems and Systemd problems.

This looks like a similar report, but comment 20 says to file a new bug.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/resolvconf/+bug/1725840 .

Something is missing in the upgrade scripts. I don't know what, but it
would be nice if it was fixed.

[Bug 1088008] [NEW] gstreamer 'shout2send' plugin is compiled without webm support

2012-12-08 Thread Calvin Walton
Public bug reported:

The ubuntu precise(12.04) version of the gstreamer0.10-plugins-good
(0.10.31-1ubuntu1) package has a version of the shout2send element that
is compiled with webm support disabled.

The webm support in that element is autodetected at compilation time: it is
enabled if the plugin is built against a version of libshout ≥ 2.3.1
(see
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gst-plugins-good/tree/ext/shout2/gstshout2.c?h=0.10#n74
 )

Since precise already ships libshout 2.3.1 (libshout3_2.3.1-1ubuntu2),
solving this issue should simply require a rebuild of the gstreamer0.10
-plugins-good package.

(You can check by doing 'gst-inspect shout2send', which currently gives the
following output:)

[Bug 705505] Re: same color for cpu 5 cpu 6 cpu 7 cpu 8

The settings keys for the colors use:

g_strdup_printf (cpu-color%d, i%4);

so CPUs 4-7 share their colors with 0-3. Looks like this is due to this

[Bug 651494] [NEW] Empathy user invoked status change to invisible causes status change to busy instead

[Bug 645735] [NEW] Rhythmbox search by typing in to window does not work correctly

2010-09-22 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

The search entry box under the song progress works correctly, and in the
Genre, Artist, or Album windows if you click on one of them and type in
what you are searching for it works correctly, but in the Maverick
versions of rhythmbox the song listing (bottom half of the Rhythmbox
window) the type to search functionality is broken.

If I have a song title that starts with Monday for example typing in
monday will just go to the middle of the song list highlighting the
first three letters of whatever song happens to be there, and will not
do anything else.

strcmp needs to be put in it's place people it's acting up.

I'd attach a screenshot, but when typing in to the rhythmbox windows
outside of the search entry box the print screen button cancels it out.

[Bug 615185] [NEW] Empathy chat notifications do not appear until you open the chat window

2010-08-08 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Using Maverick current version the notification sound is played when an
instant message is received by Empathy, and the MeMenu envelope turns
green, but the notification of the message that should normally pop up
on the top right of the desktop does not execute until you click on the
MeMenu, and then click on the message notification from there. Then the
notification sound plays a second time, and the desktop notification
pops up as well.

[Bug 611422] [NEW] Evolution mail address autofill feature does not work correctly

2010-07-29 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

What works is when I type in the partial name of a contact stored in
evolution, and let the client autofill the best match, and then hit
enter to use whatever selected address (either the first, or by using
another of multiple choices). What does not work is when that same
contact is used by typing in the email address instead of the name. An
example is when sending an email to my wife's work I can just type in
the first few letters of her name, hit enter, and it's good, but when I
type in the first part of her work email, and let the client fill in the
rest and hit enter this happens:

C, ammie Lastname em...@address.com --with the cursor placed in the
same position you were at when you were typing, which in this case was
before the first a in the first name.

Interestingly enough though in a new message window it will only do this
the first time. After having it do this once if you select all and re
type in the same few first letters to let the autofill happen and hit
enter it will enter in the address in the proper format, and even place
the type cursor at the end of the address.

This will obviously make the message not get sent correctly, and is a
totally easy thing to fix yourself every time you put in the address,
but I figured I would file a bug on it even though it doesn't really
cause any sort of major functionality issues lol.

[Bug 606441] [NEW] Ubuntu Maverick sound is choppy during video playback

2010-07-16 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Video playback in totem of .h264 encoded video gives me choppy sound
whereas mplayer does not give me this issue. I don't know if this is
something in particular with gstreamer or pulseaudio though, because in
Lucid I had issues with sound being choppy on any video player using any
codecs; the only way I got that issue to stop in Lucid was to use the
gallium drivers from the xorg edgers ppa for my radeon card, and use
mplayer with X11 as the video output mode otherwise video playback from
any source of any encoding gave me problems. Right now though like I
said it seems like only totem is having an issue with any hd video files
I have; the video will play fine with cpu usage being nearly nothing
whereas the sound will be awful. Switch to mplayer, and it's fine.

[Bug 578995] Re: Evolution occasionally does not close properly for indicator-me forcing an occasional killall evolution to restore access from the menu

2010-06-01 Thread Michael Walton
I don't know what command to pass to the GNU debugger, because my
problem doesn't occur if I just run the evolution command from a
terminal, because when I choose to close the program it closes properly,
and everything else about the program works fine for me. Since the issue
only occurs when I choose Compose New Message from indicator-me I
don't know how to run that in the debugging program to give you guys
what you need.

[Bug 518533] Re: Unable to mount location Not Authorized after nautilus upgrade

2010-04-13 Thread Daniel Walton
I have the same problem. using ubuntu 10.04 had same issue with 9.10.
Locally logged in I can mount drives , but when using remote connections using
NX I cannot mount drives.

I have a pc with Debian Lenny and that has no issues at all mounting drives.
Although it doesn't

Based on what I have been able to google it looks like it is probably
related to the policy kit stuff

there may be some script which is ran when the system is run locally but
isn't run in NX sessions.

CD Audio is inserted. The problem is that I have two CD/DVD drives
and if I use the second drive, sound-juicer comes up, but the disc
information is not shown because sound-juicer does not know I'm using
  the second drive.

I've noticed that sound-juicer has a -d switch to tell which device to
use, so I think this would make things better for systems with multiple
drives. I've also noticed that other programs like goobox also have a
-d switch. This is an enhancement request to streamline desktop

really help most users in any way).

It's a trivial problem to solve for misbehaving applications. For a
GNOME example of this, see Brasero during the 2.26 cycle. This package
used to include many desktop files with identical names. It has since
been fixed.

Fix your desktop entries to use different names for calling with
different arguments so that they show up in menus differently. As
Sebastien noted, we can't use NoDisplay (which was the first solution we
tried, and I actually committed it, but had to revert it for
applications which use this with different semantics).

It could be solved by going to FreeDesktop.org and figuring out a better
way to solve this problem, like reviving actions within desktop files,
but this hasn't been seriously proposed by anyone and it's not likely
something we'll implement in Nautilus unless there's a consensus that
it's the way to go, and it will *still* require you to fix your desktop
files.

[Bug 454033] Re: File Dialog HD Partition Sort Order randomizes on every boot

2009-10-22 Thread A. Walton
This is a bug in both Nautilus and Gtk+; neither sidebar sorts volumes
by name, we just append to the list of volumes, usually by order that
the drives are mounted. I have a patch in my sidebar rework branch for
nautilus, bug #508404 on GNOME's tracker, but it still needs some work
before it goes upstream and of course we'd probably want to patch gtk+
similarly to match.

[Bug 440290] Re: iPod only being detected as Drive, not as iPod

2009-10-10 Thread A. Walton
Nautilus will only display the appropriate icon if the backend with the
volume for the device gives it one. But again, the bug's not descriptive
enough to know whether that's the problem (somewhere in the devicekit-
disks/gdu/gvfs-gdu stack), or if the problem is Rhythmbox or whatever
player not detecting it as a music storage device (libgpod/rhythmbox),
or something else entirely.

Tentatively reassigning to gvfs.

[Bug 437532] Re: desaturate nautilus-progress-info panel icon

I think it's also going to look kind of bizarre, since the icon in the
panel is the same one we use for the progress window.

It's also not doing the right thing wrt putting the icon in nautilus-
icon-names.h as a define (but part of that's the existing code's fault).
