[Bug 1256468] Re: Evince loses ligature when highlighting

2013-12-01 Thread Tom Ace
In the attached testcase (evinceligbug.pdf), the ligature comes from an
alternate font as code 0x56, ASCII 'V'. Whether or not the ligature is
blank on highlighting or shows V depends on whether V is present in the
subsetted font that the rest of the word uses. One could argue that
showing V is a feature not a bug, as it is a V that goes into the
copy/paste buffer. But evince is inconsistent; if you highlight the
lone ff earlier in the document (the one that isn't embedded in a word)
it shows ff, not blank or V.

[Bug 1256468] [NEW] Evince loses ligature when highlighting

2013-11-29 Thread Tom Ace
Public bug reported:

Evince renders a PDF document containing ff ligatures (taken from a different
font than the surrounding text comes from) correctly upon first opening the
file, but fails to render an ff ligature when the word containing it is
highlighted with the cursor. I am attaching a testcase document
(evinceligbug.pdf , 24728 bytes) that illustrates the problem. Please contact
me at tom...@gmail.com if for some reason the document didn't survive the
attachment process.

[Bug 13319] Re: nautilus should sort by extensions

2011-07-06 Thread Ace
Nautilus 2.32.2.1

All those years ago, Vincent was absolutely correct.
Over 6 years later...6 years, and still the same horrendous problem
exists.

(In reply to comment #1)
I'm not sure that's useful to add such options.

Yes it is.. my goodness... Yes it is!

It's not just useful ... It's an utter necessity.

I read with horror, the response made by Seb Bacher:

I'm sure that some people have some files sorted in a best way with the
type rather than the extension.

I just don't see how this statement can be true.
One can't rename files, or change extensions at whim, so how can anybody have
them sorted in the best way, by using type??

It just doesn't work:

/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/70603113.PMO
/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/A9OL4VF8.PMO
/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/ADDR64C2.PM!
/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/ADDR64C2.PMR
/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/ALLADDS.PM!
/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/ALLADDS.PMR
/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/B1EBOV2P.PMO
/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/B1R3F2HD.PMO
/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/BEGJ8868.PMO
/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/BUSINESS.PM!
/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/BUSINESS.PMR
/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/DESKTOP.PM0
/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN/EOWM12D2.PMO

In the above example, the directory contains many hundreds of files, and it is
mission critical that I have them grouped together, for staged pasting into a
new folder.
It was a nightmare here's what i had to do:

/home/mark/Temp data/ADMIN
/home/mark/Temp data/CNM
/home/mark/Temp data/pmi
/home/mark/Temp data/PMM
/home/mark/Temp data/singles

I created dirs named by extension, then trolled thru admin, cutting and
pasting files into appropriate dirs - just to sort them!

In 2011 i'm having to figure out some micky mouse way of sorting files,
when in windows explorer, it would have been * a single mouse click
*.

In fact, to be fair what i should have done. was: reboot to
win7, and do the whole job using win explorer.

Yes its reproducible, open or create a folder on the desktop then close

But, I had observed that this does not happen to the secondary account I

[Bug 377475] Re: Nautilus cancels file copy process

2009-05-17 Thread Ian Ace Culallad
Yes, the scenario is reproducible on my primary account, as I did not
test it on the secondary account I created. I opened nautilus to access
a network folder to copy some files on my local drive. It showed the
file copying progress window which means that the file transfer process
in ongoing, I tried closing the network folder but it refreshed the
entire desktop area and canceling the file transfer/copy process. My
solution was to leave the network folder windows open so as not to
interrupt the data transfer.

Sad to say the scenario did not happen while I retested it so obtaining some
valuable informations for a solution did not show while doing the backtrace
process.
Hopefully that was just some technical glitches that caused the file transfer
operation to fail. I'll still be observing this scenario in order to reproduce
it if this is really a bug.

Thank you,

Refresh as in all items located on Desktop including auto mounted
drives disappear and re-appear.

Normally, closing an opened folder does not automatically Refresh the
Desktop. Only when you press F5 function key (Desktop is focused) that
it refreshes the Desktop.

I'll observe this for now as things seems to be on their right function
as of the moment, closing opened folder does not automatically refresh
the Desktop.

Thank you,

Ian

Usually, when trying to copy files from one folder location to another
(and closing the folders, both source and destination) would normally
just leave the file operation window open. Now, when you close the
folders (source or destination) - copy process will also cancel while

Public bug reported:

this on edgy (clean install)

- the mouse still works, but everything else is blocked: Alt-Ctrl-F1,
Alt-Ctrl-Esc, Alt-Ctrl-Backspace...

- the mouse won't leave the area of openoffice. I have three screens,
but the mouse stays within the open office area. At the edges, it slows
down or stutters.
