According to the upstream comment this is a bug in GTK4/X11 and not Nautilus itself, which was addressed but not fully fixed in 4.7.2. Right-click on a file and "Move to Trash" or the delete button works as intended (and the file is presented in the Trash afterwards with options to restore and empty as intended).
