[Bug 559894] Re: German spellchecking does not work

2015-06-29 Thread Alessio Aguirre-Pimentel
Perhaps someone can help me.
I cannot add a language to Empathy because I do not know how.
I search the net and all I find is people who added a language and cannot
activated it, but nobody actually describes how to add a language.
Some people say go to Settings/Region Language/ and go to Empathy and add a
language, yet there is no Empathy tab in Regions Language.
Any help?

[Bug 491940] Re: Patch for LTSP clients to properly reboot/shutdown

2012-09-14 Thread Alessio Comai
I installed an edubuntu 12.04 LTSP environment, but when I click shutdown on
thin clients it does a logoff instead.
I tried to add
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ts.sch.gr/ppa/ubuntu precise main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/ts.sch.gr/ppa/ubuntu precise main
to my repositories and dist-upgraded
It installed 4 packeges and 15 updates (including gnome-panel)
I needed to reconfigure dhcpd.conf to make pxe boot working... but nothing
changes.

the only way to shut down them is the procedure described by John Hupp (or open
an epoptes gui, shut down all clients with one click and then shut down the
last one as usual).
Someone solved it on 12.04?

[Bug 985119] Re: [soundnua]: doesn't offer 'Analogue stereo Output' option

2012-08-21 Thread Alessio Gaeta
In current version of sound settings dialog (gnome-control-center
3.4.2-0ubuntu0.4) there is no way at all to set the sound card profile
(see screenshot). Maybe it is a PEBKAC, but I really cannot guess how to
set the 'Analogue stereo output' profile, so to completely disable the
internal sound card input.

It is important to me as it seems to be the only way to have an USB
microphone (like a webcam one) working as plugged in. Without this
workaround, at the moment one has to set the USB mic as default source
at each login (a no go for my parents... = audio chat screwed up).

rantOf course, in gnome-shell everything works properly with the
default sound settings menu. It is good to keep things simple, it is
better keep them working./rant

2012-05-31 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
I confirm that if I connect the my pc at home, where there aren't proxy,
empathy starts to work as soon as I disable proxy system wide.
I think that the problem is more serious, because I've noticed that also gnome
extension installation (from https://extensions.gnome.org/) doesn't work if I'm
using the proxy.

P.S: the proxy address that I'm using is working, because I use it in

[Bug 844241] Re: Backlight not restored when moving the mouse

2011-10-22 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
Adding lightdm because I've discovered another issue:
1)boot Ubuntu
2)leave pc idle without logging in
3)after 10 minutes (as I've set in screen settings) the screen goes standby
4)I cannot restore backlight even using keyboard shortcut (I think because I'm
not logged in)
5)I've only one user so the focus is on password field, so I can enter the
password although the screen is off
6)As soon the system enter Gnome session I can restore backlight using keyboard
shortcut

Is a strange problem...maybe it affects more modules (ligthdm, gnome-
power-manager, graphic card driver??...), but I cannot reproduce it on
other laptops, does anyone have a tip on how to isolate this bug to help
resolving it?

Thanks

[Bug 844241] Re: Backlight not restored moving mouse

2011-10-16 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
** Summary changed:

- Dim on idle does not brighten with activity
+ Backlight not restored moving mouse

** Description changed:

I've upgraded my laptop from natty to oneiric and I've noticed that when I
leave the pc idle (or I manually lock the screen) the back-light is not
restored when I move the mouse or press a key, but I must turn it on and
increase it using the keyboard button.
Is the same behaviour described in this old bug #199522.

- Naturally if I uncheck the option dim screen to save power the issue
- doesn't occur.
+ After additional testing I've noticed that the problem is independent
+ from dim on idle
+
+ ***Naturally if I uncheck the option dim screen to save power the

[Bug 844241] Re: Backlight not restored moving mouse

2011-10-16 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
I've just changed bug description and title, because I've noticed that the
problem is independent from dim screen to save power
So the problem is very simple: the backlight is not restored when I move the
mouse, but I must manually turn on it.

The problem is present in only one of my laptop, precisely an Asus
K50IJ; the graphic card is an Intel Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated
Graphics Controller [8086:2A42]

[Bug 844241] Re: Dim on idle does not brighten with activity

2011-09-18 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
Sorry for the delay...
I've an Intel graphic card
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
After some other investigation I will try to summarise the problem, because
I've seen different behaviour with dim enabled/disabled

With dim enabled:
1)leave pc idle
2)when the monitor goes black wait a few minutes
3)move the mouse/keyboard but the screen remains black, even if you change
screen brightness using the special key (Fn-F6)

With dim disabled:
1)leave pc idle
2)when the monitor goes black wait a few minutes
3)move the mouse/keyboard but the screen remains black
4)if you change increase screen brightness using the special key (Fn-F6) the
back light turn on and I can use the pc

Note: if I leave the pc idle for about an hour with even with dim disabled I
cannot any more restore the back light

Feel free to ask me clarification if my description is not very clear...

[Bug 844241] [NEW] [Oneiric] Dim on idle does not brighten with activity

2011-09-07 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
Public bug reported:

I've upgraded my laptop from natty to oneiric and I've noticed that when I
leave the pc idle (or I manually lock the screen) the back-light is not
restored when I move the mouse or press a key, but I must turn it on and
increase it using the keyboard button.
Is the same behaviour described in this old bug #199522.

Naturally if I uncheck the option dim screen to save power the issue
doesn't occur.

[Bug 808512] Re: No way to configure screensaver in Oneiric

2011-09-04 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
I've just upgraded from natty to oneiric and I have the same issue: if I leave
the pc idle for a while the screen goes black and if I leave it black for some
minutes, than I cannot resume the session, because no password dialog
appears...If I manually lock the screen and than try to resume the session it
works well, because the password dialog appears.
So I'm wondering if there is no way to configure a screensaver, what program is
triggering the black screen? (in may system is installaed xscreensaver
package...maybe it conflicts with gnome3?) John do you know if there are other
bug report concerning our problem?
Thank you

[Bug 841109] [NEW] Cannot restore session after locking screen

2011-09-04 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from natty to oneiric I've started experiencing this
issue: if I leave the pc idle for some minutes the screen goes black
(because I think that there isn't a default screensaver - see #808512),
but I cannot re-enter my session, because the password dialog doesn't
come up.

Steps to reproduce:
1)enter the session
2)leave the session idle
3)when the screen goes black wait 5/10 minutes
4)move the mouse/pres some keys
5)the screen remains black

Note: if you move the mouse immediately after the screen goes black
(step 2), the password dialog came up and I'm able to enter the
password...

Manually locking the screen via menù or keyboard settings trigger the
same issue.

P.S: I don't know if this bug is related to gnome-control-center or
gnome-screensaver of other package, because I cannot exactly figure out
what is going bad...

2011-07-24 Thread Alessio Treglia
Sebastien,

I'm working on the new upstream release of accountsservice (I think I'll be
able to upload the new package to unstable tomorrow), you can see the progress
here:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/accountsservice.git

If customizing the login shell is the point, I think replacing useradd
with adduser is something unnecessary as it provides the '-s' option to
set the user's shell, so which benefits we can get by doing that switch?

[Bug 692649] [NEW] Provide GConf key to remove Places from menu bar

2010-12-20 Thread Alessio Treglia
Public bug reported:

Currently, even if the lockdown options are set, users cannot hide the
Places entry from the menu bar.

Here is a patch taken from RedHat's bugzilla to provide a GConf key to give
users the opportunity to hide 'Places' without re-compiling:

[Bug 660561] [NEW] Offline messages show UTC time instead of local time

2010-10-14 Thread Alessio Gaeta
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

As per summary (at least with telepathy-butterfly, don't know with other
protocols).
As example: an offline message sent at 14:00 CEST (UTC+2, today) is shown as
sent at 12:00.

Moreover, if the person sending the message (offline or online) has
been the last one to write in previous conversation, time isn't shown at
all (as if it were continuing the previous conversation), making
impossible to understand if a new conversation has been started and when
the message ha been sent. But maybe this is another bug...

2010-08-21 Thread Alessio Bolognino
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

  I'm on Lucid fully updated, gnome-power-manager 2.30.0-0ubuntu1

Sometimes I find hard to unlock the screen because I can't increase the
brightness of my laptop display with multimedia keys (I think that's their
name). This is really annoying when there is no other light source in the room
and you can't literally see anything.
I would expect to be able to modify the brightness (and maybe the volume
too?) even when the screen is locked.

For the record other operating systems (e.g. MacOSX) let you do that.

[Bug 568241] Re: Rhythmbox does not see my Ipodtouch 32go

Yep that's plain vanilla PTP as I suspected, no MTP in sight...

 So, what does that mean?
My iPod now shows up in Rhythmbox after I had changed some Gnome conf
setting for Rhythmbox (can't remember what exactly). I see the music files
on my iPod but I guess I can't add anything?

The music files from your iPod are served via another library,
probably called libipod.

The music files are not visible over PTP.

Ciao, Marcus

So, libgpod should provide the support for that family of devices.

[Bug 435488] Re: scrollwheel should scroll not zoom

2010-08-13 Thread Alessio Bolognino
This has to do with consistency, EOG and Evince are very similar but the
scroll wheel behaves differently, this is rather surprising. Since it's
just about changing a default gconf value, I think this should be done.

[Bug 496119] Re: Empathy steals Pidgin online status...

I think it has to do with mission-control, I have the same problem but
it's not easily reproducible.
