Does anyone have problem also with Hotmail? I've just tried, but is not
connecting...maybe the issue is the same...

[Bug 997017] Re: Empathy not connecting to Gtalk

2012-05-31 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
I confirm that if I connect the my pc at home, where there aren't proxy,
empathy starts to work as soon as I disable proxy system wide.
I think that the problem is more serious, because I've noticed that also gnome
extension installation (from https://extensions.gnome.org/) doesn't work if I'm
using the proxy.

P.S: the proxy address that I'm using is working, because I use it in
Firefox

I've just found out why the auth log is not present: empathy-auth-client
was not running...if I manually start /usr/lib/empathy/empathy-auth-
client, the Empathy.Auth appears...

P.S. I'm behind a proxy, but Gtalk was working on oneiric (even if
connecting to Gtalk was requiring some minutes...)

[Bug 844241] Re: Backlight not restored when moving the mouse

2011-10-22 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
Adding lightdm because I've discovered another issue:
1)boot Ubuntu
2)leave pc idle without logging in
3)after 10 minutes (as I've set in screen settings) the screen goes standby
4)I cannot restore backlight even using keyboard shortcut (I think because I'm
not logged in)
5)I've only one user so the focus is on password field, so I can enter the
password although the screen is off
6)As soon the system enter Gnome session I can restore backlight using keyboard
shortcut

Is a strange problem...maybe it affects more modules (ligthdm, gnome-
power-manager, graphic card driver??...), but I cannot reproduce it on
other laptops, does anyone have a tip on how to isolate this bug to help
resolving it?

Thanks

2011-10-16 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
I've just changed bug description and title, because I've noticed that the
problem is independent from dim screen to save power
So the problem is very simple: the backlight is not restored when I move the
mouse, but I must manually turn on it.

The problem is present in only one of my laptop, precisely an Asus
K50IJ; the graphic card is an Intel Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated
Graphics Controller [8086:2A42]

[Bug 844241] Re: Dim on idle does not brighten with activity

2011-09-18 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
Sorry for the delay...
I've an Intel graphic card
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
After some other investigation I will try to summarise the problem, because
I've seen different behaviour with dim enabled/disabled

With dim enabled:
1)leave pc idle
2)when the monitor goes black wait a few minutes
3)move the mouse/keyboard but the screen remains black, even if you change
screen brightness using the special key (Fn-F6)

With dim disabled:
1)leave pc idle
2)when the monitor goes black wait a few minutes
3)move the mouse/keyboard but the screen remains black
4)if you change increase screen brightness using the special key (Fn-F6) the
back light turn on and I can use the pc

Note: if I leave the pc idle for about an hour with even with dim disabled I
cannot any more restore the back light

Feel free to ask me clarification if my description is not very clear...

[Bug 808512] Re: No way to configure screensaver in Oneiric

2011-09-04 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
I've just upgraded from natty to oneiric and I have the same issue: if I leave
the pc idle for a while the screen goes black and if I leave it black for some
minutes, than I cannot resume the session, because no password dialog
appears...If I manually lock the screen and than try to resume the session it
works well, because the password dialog appears.
So I'm wondering if there is no way to configure a screensaver, what program is
triggering the black screen? (in may system is installaed xscreensaver
package...maybe it conflicts with gnome3?) John do you know if there are other
bug report concerning our problem?
Thank you

[Bug 841109] [NEW] Cannot restore session after locking screen

2011-09-04 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from natty to oneiric I've started experiencing this
issue: if I leave the pc idle for some minutes the screen goes black
(because I think that there isn't a default screensaver - see #808512),
but I cannot re-enter my session, because the password dialog doesn't
come up.

Steps to reproduce:
1)enter the session
2)leave the session idle
3)when the screen goes black wait 5/10 minutes
4)move the mouse/pres some keys
5)the screen remains black

Note: if you move the mouse immediately after the screen goes black
(step 2), the password dialog came up and I'm able to enter the
password...

Manually locking the screen via menĂ¹ or keyboard settings trigger the
same issue.

P.S: I don't know if this bug is related to gnome-control-center or
gnome-screensaver of other package, because I cannot exactly figure out
what is going bad...

[Bug 808512] Re: No way to configure screensaver in Oneiric

2011-09-04 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
I've just noticed that the issue of black screen is triggered also by
manually locking the screen, so I've opened a separate bug #841109,
because I'm not sure that the cause of the problem is the lack of a
default screensaver...

[Bug 427629] Re: When i remove the AC power cable from my laptop, the computer goes to sleep.

2010-02-24 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
In which version of gnome-power-manager was fixed bug Bug #425411? I've
my system up to date (and proposed enabled), but I can't see any
difference on this bug...I've tried to capture a log of gnome-power-
manager, but when I restart it on verbose mode the problem disappears...

This bug isn't fixed! My updated Karmic still has this issue...please
don't duplicate bug with status new into bug that seems fixed...

[Bug 455694] Re: CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor asks for authentication all the time

2009-11-05 Thread Alessio Spinus Moscatello
I've the same issue... Sebastien, are you sure this is an upstream bug? Or this
is only a misconfiguration of policikit for org.gnome.cpufreqselector.policy
