After reformatting and reinstalling Ubuntu, I still receive the terminal
output, so it is in fact a bug in Gnome.

I've resolved it. It appears to a bug that is particular to Adwaita and
all themes derived from it, and I've already contacted some of the theme
developers.

[Bug 776409] Re: gnome classic does not allow window resize or shows min/max/close section

2011-06-03 Thread Alex Engelmann
I couldn't figure out what effect might be causing it, but I did go
ahead and take a screenshot so you can see the problem. It seems to
have something to do with missing window borders, but changing the theme
doesn't make a difference.

[Bug 791787] Re: gnome-appearance-properties not installing themes correctly

2011-06-02 Thread Alex Engelmann
I've been able to reproduce the bug on my laptop, also Ubuntu 11.04
64bit. So to sum it up more clearly:

I'm using 1:2.32.1-0ubuntu15 (gnome-control-center)

What I expected to happen: Installing themes by dragging and dropping
the theme into appearance manager themes, says "installed successfully"
and then works no problem.

What actually happened: When I install a particular theme by dragging
and dropping, I get the terminal output posted above. With other
themes, though the GUI reports having "installed successfully", they are
not installed successfully, but I don't get that terminal output.

How to reproduce it: Even just launching gnome-appearance-properties
will give the above output, no matter which theme is selected (even
default Ambiance theme). However, deleting one particular theme from my
home/.themes directory seems to make it go away. Deleting that theme
manually within appearance manager doesn't actually remove it from that
directory, so the output still occurs.

I'm starting to think these are 2 possibly unrelated bugs: one with a
particular theme, and one with appearance manager. I would greatly
appreciate input from someone more knowledgeable :)

[Bug 791787] [NEW] gnome-appearance-properties not installing themes correctly

2011-06-02 Thread Alex Engelmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I'm on Ubuntu 11.04 64bit, and am having difficulties installing new
themes from GNOME-Look.org, where they would not install succesfully as
full themes, but only as components (Window Border, etc). I decided to
run the program in a terminal and see if there was any relevant output.
The attached file shows all the output.

[Bug 684701] [NEW] rhythmbox keeps freezing

2010-12-03 Thread Alex Engelmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Everything worked fine until the latest update, but not every time I
start the program it works fine and then starts pseudo-crashing. It
will stop responding and the interface goes dark but the songs keep
playing. It keeps going dark, then lighting up again. Should I go one
version forward to the very latest or try going back a version?

[Bug 519935] Re: unable to eject cd-rom after burning disk

2010-11-21 Thread Alex Engelmann
I'm on Brasero 2.32 on Maverick and it still happens, no matter what
kind of media I burn. The media always burns successfully so I suppose
it's not much of a problem, just hit cancel.

I like the idea that was suggested above of just relabeling the button
"continue" instead of "cancel", at least until the bug gets fixed. That
way new users won't wonder if their media burned correctly or not.

[Bug 666033] Re: Size of contents in volume reported is incorrect, should be GB not TB.

2010-10-25 Thread Alex Engelmann
PS

I thought 129GB seemed excessive, as I only recently set up this system.
As it turns out, the size of the volume contents is NOT supposed to be
129GB, so it's a genuine error and not just a typo. According to the
system monitor, I'm only using 26.5GiB, which sounds about right.

[Bug 666033] [NEW] Size of contents in volume reported is incorrect, should be GB not TB.

2010-10-24 Thread Alex Engelmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

This is my first bug report, so I'll follow the format shown below.

1) I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, the amd64 version
2) The problem is in nautilus version 1:2.32.0-0ubuntu1
3) Size of volume contents should be 129 GB
4) Size of volume contents is reported as 129 TB

The free space is correctly reported as 828.1GB. This problem happens
repeatedly, so it's not a one-time glitch. I'm sure fixing it is
trivial, but my programming experience is limited...
