[Bug 719879] [NEW] gimp-2.6 crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_is_a()

2011-02-16 Thread Alexander Gnodtke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

On a netbook. Opened a regular image stored on harddisk. Copy and pasted as
new image a small selection of the original image. Stored the new image. Tried
to close the original image. Computer would ask me whether I would like to kill
gimp process as it is not responding. Declined. After a few minutes gimp
crashed.
This error is reproducible.
Workaround is to close the original image before saving the new image.

2010-10-23 Thread Alexander Gnodtke
Same here:
* Connection failed to the dictionary server at dict.org:2628

I will set this bug to confirmed.

In my opinion there should be something like a fall back solution if
dict.org cannot be reached. This could be a different website or an off-
line dictionary like I think I remember in much earlier versions.

Hi John, in oder to get your dictionary working off-line you could follow these
instructions:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-utils/+bug/19227/comments/2

Bug #19227 is a wishlist bug requesting default off-line usage.
This bug is different as it would merely request a fallback option (online
and/or off-line).

As a first step, could you please reinstall gnome-panel and deactivate

[Bug 653133] Re: opens 'Places' tab

2010-10-06 Thread Alexander Gnodtke
It is strange that .gtk-bookmarks is not in your home folder and you are still
seeing Documents, Music, Pictures, etc. in the Places menu.
The ~/.gtk-bookmarks file actually stores the nautilus bookmarks, which show up
in the Places menu.

One thing that you might want to try is:
Start nautilus
Then right-click on a folder such as Pictures
Choose Open with other application...
Select File Browser
Make sure Remember this application [...] is checked

Your Places menu should then work as expected.
Hope this helps...

[Bug 653133] Re: opens 'Places' tab

2010-10-05 Thread Alexander Gnodtke
OK, thats what I thought, I was just confused because I do not have a
Files entry in my Places folder.

These are the things you can please check:

In your homefolder in the file .gtk-bookmarks is a list of the entries of the
Places folder. They should be names something like:
file:///home/yourname/Documents
etc.

Then you can check if the file ~/.local/share/applications/default.list
exists and if there are any entries. (Does not exist per default)

Then check /usr/share/applications/defaults.list and in particular the entries
for:
x-directory/normal=nautilus-folder-handler.desktop
and
inode/directory=nautilus-folder-handler.desktop

What kind of 10.10 are you running? Could it be a misconfigured
development build?

[Bug 650781] Re: Evolution crashed whilst I was in Firefox.

2010-10-01 Thread Alexander Gnodtke
One more thing. You were saying that you were not able to report the evolution
crash automatically. This is usually done by a tool called apport. And this is
how you can turn it on:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Apport#How%20to%20enable%20apport
Apport then allows you to send your bug report automatically. Be sure to
understand that:
Apport collects potentially sensitive data, such as core dumps, stack traces,
and log files. They can contain passwords, credit card numbers, serial numbers,
and other private material.
when you choose to upload your information.

[Bug 650781] Re: Evolution crashed whilst I was in Firefox.

2010-09-30 Thread Alexander Gnodtke
Thank you anyway. The next time this should happen you might want to
attach the .xsession-errors file located in your home directory to the
bug report. There might be a hint as to the cause of the crash.

[Bug 650781] Re: Evolution crashed whilst I was in Firefox.

2010-09-29 Thread Alexander Gnodtke
Thank you for your Bug-Report. Unfortunately I have not been able to reproduce
the behavior. This is what I have tried:
- Open evolution
- create message
- paste link to random .pdf file on the web in message body
- save message as draft (in the compose window evolution does not let you
follow the pdf link)
- select draft folder
- select message in draft folder
- click on link
- firefox opens (previously closed) and asks me to select the application to
view the pdf file
- I select Document Viewer
- pdf is displayed

Is this error reproducible on your machine? If so, could you please list the
exact steps. What pdf document viewer do you have installed? What is the pdf
file you were trying to view (if it is not confidential)?
Thanks for your help!

[Bug 552616] Re: seahorse hangs generating PGP, if the computer does not have enough entropy

2010-09-08 Thread Alexander Gnodtke
UPDATE to my last comment: I took another look at the problem (Lucid,
Seahorse 2.30 on VBox) and it turns out that the dialog is not hanging.
On my machine it takes between 5-20mins for the key to be generated the
dialog then closes properly. The cancel button on the dialog does not
work and closing the dialog via the x lets the key be generated in the
background that is why it pops up eventually. Sorry for the wrong
conclusion earlier.

[Bug 552616] Re: seahorse hangs generating PGP, if the computer does not have enough entropy

2010-09-07 Thread Alexander Gnodtke
I am running Lucid with Seahorse 2.30 and I get a similar behavior as described
by Prototype-T4286.
The Generating key dialog hangs but I have the My personal keys tab
selected and eventually my new PGP key shows up without having to restart the
application. I terminate the Generating key dialog manually.
