the network manager is NetworkManager Applet 0.8.1
i am using xfce i don't have gconf-editor
so i did gconftool-2 -t bool -s /apps/empathy/use_conn false
but iy not helped.

no buddy icons appears on system start up

Binary package hint: empathy
on system start up the main window of empathy appears , but no buddies
icons on it , no icon of empathy in tray.
the option -automatically connect on startup are cheked.
when doing chat-quit and then running the programm again maualy every
thing going OK.
