[Bug 1078061] [NEW] Not clear how to re-setup USB media player handler

2012-11-12 Thread Anders Feder
Public bug reported:

When I plug my Android phone into the USB port of my Ubuntu laptop, I am
prompted on what action should be taken when devices of this types are
plugged in. This good. However, I am reluctant to ask the dialog to
never pop up again because I don't see a clear way to re-enable it if I
change my mind.

There should be some way to open the what action should be taken
dialog again. For instance, in the context menu of the mount icon on the
Unity launcher.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Plug in USB media player.
2. See what action should be taken dialog.
3. Select Do nothing and check the always perform this action checkbox
underneath.
4. Next time you plug in the USB media player, the dialog does not come up and
there is no other apparent way to open it.

[Bug 34775] Re: Unable to unlock because of password incorrect

2009-11-02 Thread Anders Feder
A had a similar issue, my permissions for the shadow file looked as
follows:

-rw-r- 1 root 42 1229 2009-10-30 22:26 /etc/shadow

The neighboring groups to 'shadow' were 41 and 43, but for some reason
the shadow group (now?) had the number 1001. I set the group of the
shadow file to 'shadow', and that fixed it.

I have no idea what caused the mess-up, but I figured I should post it
here for the record.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

When I have opened an IRC chat window in Empathy, it must be clearer
what happens when the window is closed. I have no idea what happens?
Does the client remain in the channel in the background? Or does
leave/part the channel, so every time I open the window, everyone else
in the channel see me joining?
