[Bug 1852183] Re: [X11] copy/paste (clipboard) is broken in Ubuntu 19.10

2020-03-05 Thread Andrzej Mendel
Are there plans to backport the fix to 19.10, seeing as 20.04 has
already received the fix?

[Bug 1526794] [NEW] Navigating to a folder in trash and up moves user out of trash:///

2015-12-16 Thread Andrzej Mendel
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu version: Ubuntu 15.10
Nautilus version: 1:3.14.2-0ubuntu13

If a user opens a folder in trash:/// and then navigates up, he ends up
in ~/.local/share/Trash/files rather than in trash:///. If he then tries
to delete said folder, it simply gets moved to trash again, since
Nautilus does not recognize ~/.local/share/Trash/files as a special
location.

Steps to reproduce:
1) In Nautilus, create a folder names 'foo'
2) Delete 'foo' by moving to trash
3) Open trash
4) Open 'foo' in trash
5) Navigate up
6) Delete 'foo'

Expected behaviour:
'foo' is permanently deleted

Observed behaviour:
'foo' is moved from trash to trash, i.e. nothing happens

[Bug 237998] [NEW] Mounting an iPod causes Rhythmbox to start playing tracks from it

2008-06-06 Thread Andrzej Mendel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

I am not entirely sure if I should file this bug against g-v-m or
Rhythmbox.

Either way whenever I plug my iPod in it gets detected properly and
mounted automatically. It opens Rhythmbox with iPod selected as a source
if there are no Rhythmbox instances running but when there are some it
stops playback of current track (annoying) and sometimes even starts
playing one of iPod's track (very annoying).

When pluging in an iPod playback should not be altered.

This is an x86 Hardy box and the bug was not present in Gutsy AFAIK.

[Bug 133285] Re: [gutsy] deskbar-applet consumes too much CPU

2007-08-23 Thread Andrzej Mendel
This is not a crash, but a bug that consumes CPU needlessly (or at least
seemingly needlessly) so I can't really get a meaningful backtrace and
I'm not that much into profiling. I won't be at the computer where the
bug occurs until monday, so unless someone else debugs, fixing this bug
will have to wait.

[Bug 133285] [gutsy] deskbar-applet consumes too much CPU

2007-08-18 Thread Andrzej Mendel
Public bug reported:

all available CPU time making my system visibly less responsive. This

[Bug 3647] Re: "On Top" menu bug

2007-01-30 Thread Andrzej Mendel
I am afraid it is not fixed. Selecting "On Top" from WM pull-down menu still
doesn't make a tick appear next to "On Top" position in Totem's "View" menu.
I've tested it on Totem 2.16.x and 2.17.5 (backported by hand to edgy) with
Metacity 2.16.x and 2.17.5 and Beryl 0.1.99. Neither of these combinations
worked as it should.
BTW, the upstream bug report isn't actually about the same problem. It's only a
feature request to implement more fine grained control over the "On Top"
property, but it doesn't have anything to do with syncing it between Totem and
WM.

[Bug 32011] Re: spash image is linked to /etc/

2006-09-29 Thread Andrzej Mendel
This is quite a problem in edgy. After updating to it, I couldn't see
grub menu because the splashimage got deleted during some ubuntu-
artwork. Perhaps update-grub could check whether the referenced image
actually exist and comment out splashimage= line if it doesn't?

[Bug 31402] gnome-session properties hangs, when writing to files it doesn't have permisions to modify

2006-02-26 Thread Andrzej Mendel
Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31402

Comment:
This is a bit more complicated, gnome-session-properties is quite broken
currently and I'll try to explain it now.
The first thing is that when gnome-session-properties can't delete appropriate
.desktop file it hangs and needs to be killed by hand. This is very bad, GUI
should pop a nice message up and let the user carry on as. That's what I ment
when I filled this bug.

Let's suppose it does work this way. Unfortunately Joe Average still
won't be able to stop programs declared in /usr/share/autostart from
launching at login. There should be some way to disable them and make
gnome-session ignore them. We can't exept each and every e.g. KDE
package maintaner will remember to declare "OnlyShowIn=KDE;" and vice
versa. That was the second problem

I have also found out that gnome-session-properties doesn't actually write
stuff to ~/.local/share/autostart/*.desktop as it should do when user adds
programs to his startup. It does show on startup programs list, but dissapears
after logout and subsequent login. Trying to delete it hangs g-s-p and strace
gives following message:
unlink("/home/kelner/.local/share/autostart/ps.desktop") = -1 ENOENT (No such
file or directory)

so there are 3 related, but separate bugs:
I: gnome-session-properties hangs when it fails to delete .desktop file
II: can't disable startup programs listed in /usr/share/autostart
III: gnome-session doesn't create .desktop files for user-defined startup apps.
II and III both lead to I, but are different issues and IMHO should be treated
as such.
Hope this clarified thing a bit. Guess it confused you a lot more ;)

[Bug 31268] gnome-session-properties freezes when trying to remove a program to start

2006-02-19 Thread Andrzej Mendel
Public bug report changed:

Comment:
If so, I'm really sorry for acting so hastily. Could you strace gnome-
session-properties and see when it hangs and if it's different from what
I've described in #31402? If so this bug should be no longer marked as
duplicate.

gnome-session 2.13.91-0ubuntu1, but the problem was also aparent in 2.13.90 and
earlier 2.13.x releases.
I click:
Sys => Preferences => Session => Startup Programs => any of progs listed there

And it hangs. It woes in same way when I launch it from terminal, gnome-run,
whatever.
I can't delete any of the programs from /usr/share/autostart, neither can I

[Bug 31402] gnome-session properties hangs, when writing to files it doesn't have permisions to modify

2006-02-14 Thread Andrzej Mendel
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31402

Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
This is actualy a two part problem.
Firstly, gnome-session-properties hangs when trying to delete program defined
in /usr/share/autostart from startup program list, because ordinary users don't
have write pemission on these files. strace gives thousands of these lines:
unlink("/usr/share/autostart/gnome-power-manager.desktop") = -1 EACCES
(Permission denied)
While it should show an error message and let the user carry on.

Another problem is that user can't disable these startup programs
withous becoming root and moving .desktop files out of the way. I had to
cope with kicker starting alongside gnome-panel for several days and it
was really annoying.
