[Bug 1055021] [NEW] No way to change how right click and middle click works on a touchpad.
Public bug reported: I have a Dell Studio 1558 whose trackpad has physical buttons for left and right click. So I don't need the right click functionality from my touchpad. I also do not need middle click functionality. But gnome-control-center automatically sets two-finger touch to right click. Now its very easy to double tap accidentally and it seems to happen every now and then which is very annoying. Even more annoying is the middle click functionality which is activated whenever I tap in the top right corner of the touchpad. Problem is that I use Google Chrome, and middle clicking on a tab in Chrome closes it. Many times when I press on a tab it closes, because I accidentally tap on the top right corner, which is very annoying. I don't have a big touchpad so this happens quite frequently. There is no way to edit this behaviour from the toucpad settings. I tried to turn it off by manually editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf. But with no profit since it seems gnome-control-center resets the binding every time the computer starts. I earlier filed a bug in Gnome Bugzilla and they said that the problem is only caused by the Ubuntu's patched version. So please either remove the functionality given that I have hardware buttons for them or provide a way to configure it from the touchpad settings. ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1055021 Title: No way to change how right click and middle click works on a touchpad. [Bug 886515] Re: I cannot open my rtf documents
Hi Gloria, Thanks for filing the bug but you see, Document Viewer cannot read RTF files as it is not supported by it. To read RTF files you can use LibreOffice, which is present by default on Ubuntu Oneiric but if you don't have it you can install it from the Software Center. Hope this solves your problem. ** Changed in: evince (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886515 Title: I cannot open my rtf documents To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/886515/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 886468] Re: Problem to read PDF
Well, you do not need to reinstall a complete OS just because a single program is not working. Maybe try to reinstall Document Viewer. If the problem persists, we'll look at it. You in the description mentioned that you can't use your touchpad to scroll through pages so you use mouse. Does it work with the mouse? Until the issue is resolved you can try other PDF readers available in the Software Center. Also Google Chrome does a nice job as a PDF reader though you might miss some features. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886468 Title: Problem to read PDF To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/886468/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 886468] Re: Problem to read PDF
Does the problem persist for *every* PDF that you open? I use Evince (Document Viewer) everyday and I once got the same problem while reading a PDF file, but for others it works just fine.
