Empathy doesn't work well (since it cannot be resized under a particular
size) on netbooks with smaller screens. It is a real pain trying to use
empathy, since it cannot be resized to fit the screen (for me, that's
1024*600 px). It would be nice if this could be done.

I'm sorry, my bug report reads empathy, whereas it should be
evolution. Empathy works fine.
