OK, so I downloaded the new version and it works for me now, so I
retract my earlier statement. Sorry for that and thanks for the fix!

[Bug 277503] Re: Visual Effects in gnome-appearance-properties doesn't persist in Ubuntu 8.10 beta live CD

2008-10-16 Thread Bernhard Koenig
Another EDIT: to your last question, the desktop effects are used. It's
just that the radio button does not check permanently. If you don't have
the same problem, maybe you must install from the current intrepid live
CD. I also install from the latest live CD about 5 days ago and have the
same problem.

I have the same problem and Ricardo described it pretty accurately. Just
go to Apperance Visual Effects Tab and no Radio button will be
checked even if you checked one before.

[Bug 279206] [NEW] intrepid: normal visual effects cannot be checkmarked permanently

2008-10-06 Thread Bernhard Koenig
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When I go to Appearance -- Visual effects then I usually have
Normal effects checkmarked. But the checkmark does not stay! When I go
out of the menu and back later, none of the items is checkmarked. (Even
though I think the system is using Normal but the checkmark is simply
gone.)

[Bug 251669] Re: totem no longer able to play m3u playlists

It just worked for me. Totem was able to play a number of
playlists/livestreams. Was this fixed in one of the updates?

[Bug 251669] Re: totem no longer able to play m3u playlists

2008-10-06 Thread Bernhard Koenig
I am currently able to play livestreams but it's a bit unstable: just had a
complete system crash, had to reboot. The radio was playing I wish I was a
punk rocker if that helps. :)
Cannot reproduce as that song is rarely played.

Haha, but I really had a complete system crash playing a live stream on
totem.

[Bug 278299] Re: Intrepid: arrows in gnome menu?

2008-10-05 Thread Bernhard Koenig
OK, sorry for keeping you busy because of such a small thing. Let me put
it like this:

Regarding these arrows in the main menu, I preferred the hardy font over
the intrepid font. So I guess this is a wish/enhancement. I would like
to have the hardy look back in this particular case, the other one
caught my eye (in a negative sense). :)

[Bug 278299] Re: Intrepid: arrows in gnome menu?

2008-10-04 Thread Bernhard Koenig
There are some discussions here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=151122
or here
http://sudan.ubuntuforums.com/showthread.php?s=c26abb17e421845799e2f9fa0e85e4e9t=733808

Obviously, it doesn't have a very high priority. I just thought it
looked different on intrepid compared to hardy (can't check it anymore).
Maybe I was just irritated by the heavier font.

[Bug 259267] Re: gnome-terminal is RAM excessive

2008-08-19 Thread Bernhard Koenig
I'm using hardy at the moment with Gnome 2.22.3.

Is it safe to upgrade to intrepid already?
And what is the best way of doing so (in order to have a smooth transition once
the real intrepid comes out)?

[Bug 259267] [NEW] gnome-terminal is RAM excessive

2008-08-18 Thread Bernhard Koenig
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome

Don't know if this is the right forum for that but here's a shocking
fact (Core 2 Duo machine):

gnome-terminal uses 13.5 MB RAM while
konsole only uses 4.1 MB and
xterm uses 3.4 MB.

gnome-terminal is quite a monster compared to the other two. Even the
powerful konsole is only slightly bigger than xterm.
