[Bug 1727908] Re: Software & Updates application does not permit changes on the "Other Software" tab

2020-03-04 Thread Bjoern H.
Agreed, the low activity could be because the bug is confirmed,
reproduced and set at high priority. Most users who face the same issue
(myself included) won't see any reason to add to the issue when a
solution seems to be on its way.

2019-03-20 Thread Bjoern H.
I have this issue both in 18.10 and 19.04. Using arrows and space does
not work, the only workaround I've found is "sudo software-properties-
gtk". Would be happy to provide any details that could be useful.

[Bug 483193] [NEW] pdfs are printed a bit smaller than original, also in preview

2009-11-15 Thread Bjoern
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Actually I'm not quite sure if the bug is in evince.
If you open a pdf-file in evince and print it, it is a bit smaller than it
original was, about 95% or so. That is even in the preview. Same thing occurs
if you print the pdf with gimp with the normal print dialog (with the gutenberg
dialog it seems to be a bit better but also to small). And since the preview is
in evince I thougt it might be in evince but could also be in the GNOME
printing system.
On the other side if you print the pdf with lp filename.pdf it is o.k. so it
seems not to be a bug in CUPS, the error also does not come if you print with
OpenOffice.
I have an HP 4P printer. I have tested the problem with the following drivers
(seems no difference):
HP LaserJet 4P - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.4
HP LaserJet 4P Foomatic/lj4dith
HP LaserJet 4P Foomatic/ljet4
Generic PCL 5e Printer Foomatic/ljet4d
Generic PCL 5e Printer Foomatic/hpijs-pcl5e

In earlier Versions of Ubuntu (8.10 or 8.04, I don't know anymore) that
was o.k. with the ljet4-driver; with the Gutenprint-driver there was a
little offset to the right (or left?)

2008-11-12 Thread Bjoern Koch
Well, let's put it this way: I never did anything do enable compositing ;). So,
yes, I think I am using metacity without compositing.
And gDesklets does not support compositing yet (AFAIK).
Even worse: I think to remember that there were problems running gDesklets with
compositing on... :(.
A quote from here
(http://www.susegeek.com/graphics/gdesklets-desklets-for-your-desktop-in-opensuse/):
Does not work on Ubuntu with nVidia drivers and compositing enabled.

What happens if you turn compositing off ?

[Bug 292985] [NEW] Places menu fails to open folders

2008-11-03 Thread Bjoern Guenzel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

This concerns Ubuntu 8.10.

Selecting any of the folders in the Places Menu of the Gnome panel has
no effect. Selecting Computer in Places brings up the file browser
with Location computer:///, but all else fails (Home Folder,
Desktop, Documents, Music, Pictures, Video).

Also Places does not show up in the Edit Menus view of the menus.

If i install gpg-agent and activate it in ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf so that both

So maybe it would be good to install gpg-agent by default if gpg is installed

[Bug 150959] Re: epiphany resizes its window

2007-10-19 Thread Bjoern Guenzel
I think I have a similar problem with all applications: they don't
maximize to the full screen, only to a part of the screen. Occasionally
(OK, frequently), they resize themselves, either they snap to the real
fullscreen, or they snap back from the fullscreen to the partial
fullscreen.

It happens for example to Firefox, Thunderbird, Eclipse, even the
screensaver preview showed only on the partial screen.

It seems Gnome is somehow confused about the size of the screen. I have
an external monitor attached to my notebook. The external monitor is
1920x1200 pixels, the notebook is 1280x768 pixels. I don't care what is
shown on the notebook monitor, but perhaps Gnome sometimes uses the
notebook resolution for fullscreen?

Exact hardware: Dell Latitude X1, Intel modesetting driver, external
monitor Dell 2405FPW.

nothing happens. The song just doesn't appear in the playlist where i dnd it.
It just happens with some files but all are ripped from the same cd on the same
computer with sound juicer.

I think it has something to do with the characters in the filename. The file
where this problem appears has a '' in the filename if i remove the '' from
the filename i can dnd it.
