[Bug 856312] Re: Can't use non-mirrored resolution with two monitors

2013-04-12 Thread Charlie Halford
Thanks for responding to this. Rather than close the issue, can we
either:

1) Track this as a bug with the fglrx drivers upstream or
2) Catch the error setting the virtual resolution and display a friendly error
message like Your video driver does not support extending your screen between
multiple monitors. Please use the vendor supplied settings application.
3) Do a check before enabling the toggle for mirrored screens. This would only
become enabled when a vendor supported dynamic front buffer reallocation

[Bug 856312] Re: Cant set resolution with two monitors

2012-08-17 Thread Charlie Halford
I'm seeing the same problem with an fglrx package version of
2:8.960-0ubuntu1.1.

Removing fglrx really isn't option, especially on an LTS release.

[Bug 863258] [NEW] Indicators on the top right of the panel are often obscured or out of place on login

2011-09-30 Thread Charlie Halford
Public bug reported:

Release: Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS
gnome-panel version: 1:2.30.2-0ubuntu0.2

When I log into a new user session on my laptop, I expect that the indicators
in gnome-panel on the top right are:
1) displayed clearly and without obstruction and
2) displayed in the same position as when I logged out last

What actually happens is rather random (possibly related to the speed I
login from gdm when my laptop boots). Occasionally, when I log in, the
indicators in the top left are both obscured (either by another
indicator, or an invisible object), and out of position. Re-organising
their position does not fix the fact that they are obscured. Crucially,
logging out then back in again will always fix the problem.

Sure thing, I'll do that. Is there a guide on how to link this bug
report to the gnome one?

[Bug 355602] Re: Rhythmbox fails to load after DBus object creation

2009-04-07 Thread Charlie Halford
Did a reboot and that seemed to fix it. Do you think it could have been
due to a failed DBus? I looked in my ~/.xsession-errors file and
couldn't see anything pertinent.

Is there anything else I can do to help investigate/reproduce this?

[Bug 355565] Re: Very poor performance when extracting audio CDs

2009-04-07 Thread Charlie Halford
Attached is the output of rhythmbox --debug.

I tried sound juicer, and it seems slightly quicker, ripping the same CD
in about 9m 30s. It seems to affect the speed of my system significantly
as well: audio playing starts stuttering, dragging windows, and even
typing this bug become unresponsive.

Is this a symptom of something bigger?

[Bug 355565] [NEW] Very poor performance when extracting audio CDs

2009-04-05 Thread Charlie Halford
Public bug reported:

1) Release: Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 Beta

2) apt-cache policy rhythmbox: 0.12.0-0ubuntu2

3) When extracting audio CDs in other operating systems on the same
computer, the conversion process takes under 5 minutes, and allows me
full use of my computer as the process takes place.

4) When extracting an audio CD in rhythmbox, the process took well over
5 minutes, and took a large amount of CPU, leaving my computer very
unusable. Attempts to play other music within rhythmbox while the
extraction was taking place results in stuttering playback.

While the extraction process is a computationally expensive operation,
it should NOT leave the system in an unusable state.

 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 355602] [NEW] Rhythmbox fails to load after DBus object creation

2009-04-05 Thread Charlie Halford
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

1) Release: Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04 Beta

2) Rhythmbox 0.12.0

3) Expected: Rhythmbox should load correctly.

4) Actual: After a day of using Rhythmbox on Jaunty, I closed the
program, wanting to report another bug with it's plugin detection
continually asking for plugins it couldn't find. I ran the command
rhythmbox --debug rhythmbox-debug.txt, but Rhythmbox did not load.
Looking at the attached debug file, all I can see at the end is the text
going to create DBus object, then THE END. Attempting to launch
Rhythmbox through the menu now fails as well.

The only different thing I did before the last close down was enable the
Watch folder for new files option in preferences.
