[Bug 673577] [NEW] email account settings are being ignored

2010-11-10 Thread Chris Lee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

After upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10, the latest version of Evolution seems to
ignore some email account settings. So far I have noticed:
  - 'Edit'-Preferences-[Account Edit]-Receiving options-Folders-Namespace'
is ignored until I open the
account preferences editor and close it.
  - 'Edit'-Preferences-[Account Edit]-Defaults-Sent messages folder' is
ignored for one of my accounts

[Bug 176106] evolution does not start (gutsy)

2007-12-13 Thread Chris Lee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

As of this morning, evolution will no longer start for me. These are
the messages that are printed before it just stops:

  [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ evolution
  CalDAV Eplugin starting up ...
evolution-shell-Message: Killing old version of evolution-data-server...

These are printed even when I kill evolution-data-server before starting
evolution.

I've taken the available updates yesterday morning and this morning
(cairo, findutils, deskbar applets). I've also also (re-)installed
gossip. The other possible change in the last couple of days is that
I've accessed my mail with a new program (Modest) on my Nokia n800.

[Bug 176106] Re: evolution does not start (gutsy)

2007-12-13 Thread Chris Lee
Actually, I have found that the problem has probably to do with
evolution-data-server and not evolution itself. If I click on the
'Clock' applet on my gnome-panel, the entire panel hangs until I
'killall gnome-panel'.

So evolution is probably hanging also when it tries to talk to EDS. Do
you still suggest the same steps for debugging?

[Bug 162853] Re: evolution email address autocomplete is broken after compose window is moved

2007-12-07 Thread Chris Lee
I was about to write in and say that I hadn't seen this bug for a while
anyway. I tried to re-create it a couple of times and failed. Then,
for some reason, I remembered that I have switched to using desktop
effects. For a lark, I turned off desktop effects and tried again, and
I experienced the bug again. Also, I am running Xinerama on NVidia.
I'm not sure whether that has anything to do with it, but it might
because desktop effects fixed it for me.

[Bug 162853] evolution email address autocomplete is broken after compose window is moved

2007-11-15 Thread Chris Lee
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Gutsy, evolution2.12.0-0ubuntu5. In the compose window, autocompletion
of email addresses in the to: entry field stops working properly after
the compose window is moved. If I enter the email address before moving
the window, it works properly.

To reproduce (hopefully) :

Select 'New' email. Move new compose window with mouse. Start to enter
an email address that is ambiguous in first 2-3 characters.

Behavior seen:

After the first couple of characters, autocomplete selects one of the
matching addresses immediately, not allowing user to select from
potential matches.

Oh -- I figured it out.

I went to 'System-Preferences-Preferred Applications-System'

and saw that my 'Terminal emulator' was 'Custom' with no command.

I switched to 'gnome-terminal', and all was OK.

So I guess there was maybe some change in gconf usage, probably gnome-
wide (not related to gnome-panel) that caused my terminal emulator
setting to get lost or something on upgrade. I have never explicitly
changed this -- I've always used the default emulator on this system,
which has always been gnome-terminal.

[Bug 65509] Re: deskbar-applet -- file:/// urls opened in firefox instead of gnome-default-browser

2006-10-20 Thread Chris Lee
I realized why this happens now. When the html file is local, the local
mime properties determines which application opens the file. So if
select an .html file in nautilus, select preferences-Open_with, then
select epiphany, then fie:/// urls are then opened by epiphany.

This make sense -- it seems deskbar is doing the right thing using mime
to select the application to open for a local file. Maybe setting a
particular browser as the 'prefered application' should update the mime
entry for html files?

[Bug 39149] Re: [Dapper] sftp hangs if I haven't done ssh-add

2006-05-17 Thread Chris Lee
It happens for me connecting to the sshd daemon of a Breezy machine,
from a current Dapper machine. The connection is to be made using a DSA
key (not password). The DSA key is password protected, however. So if
I have not done 'ssh-add' to unlock the DSA key, and I try to open the
folder via a 'Bookmarks' link from the gnome-panel menu, I have the
problem.

I just re-tried this with everything updated for Dapper as of last
night, and I no longer am getting asked for the password for the gnome-
key-manager. Nautilus just hangs and I have to kill it.

Using 'Connect to server' to do the connection just works.

Not sure -- I don't know if there is supposed to be an icon in the notification

sponsor the development), but I don't

I suppose we could just close this bug until any such time that there was an

[Bug 28915] Re: [Dapper] 'Configure alarms' selections not remembered

2006-04-27 Thread Chris Lee
There is no longer an icon for EDS in my notification window.

This may be related to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329800

But I am not sure. Does anyone still have an icon for EDS in the notification
window? Is it no longer supposed to be there?

[Bug 31720] Re: slow-keys dialogue pops up underneath and is modal

2006-04-20 Thread Chris Lee
Another problem with the dialog is that even if I can see it and it is
in focus, I cannot seem to use the keyboard to cancel. I have to reach
over and use the mouse :-(

[Bug 39149] [Dapper] sftp hangs if I haven't done ssh-add

2006-04-11 Thread Chris Lee
Public bug reported:

Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
If I try to open a nautilus window with an sftp:// location, and I
haven't done ssh-add to supply the ssh-agent with access to the public
key necessary for the ssh connection with the server, then nautilus
first asks me for my password for the key manager, and then it hangs.
Redraw of the background even fails at this point. If I 'killall
nautilus', then do 'ssh-add', and then open the location in a nautilus
window, everything works OK again.

This happens every time for me, and actually has been a problem for a
long time, but I never got around to filing it as a bug until now

[Bug 28915] [Dapper] 'Configure alarms' selections not remembered

2006-01-18 Thread Chris Lee
Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/28915

Affects: evolution-data-server (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
When I right-click on the EDS icon in the notification area, and select
'configure alarms', a pop-up window presents my calendars, from which I
can select ones via check-boxes.

If I select any subset of calendars and press close, then open the pop-
up again, *no* calendars are selected in the new pop-up.
