[Bug 43572] Re: Dell Laptops don't talk to HAL about brightness correctly

2008-03-25 Thread Christian Schuerer
With the currently used kernel, it's not possible to load this module
automatically (I think this will be available in hardy+1). But it's easy
to get your system load this module at boot time, but adding 'dcdbas' in
one empty line of the file '/etc/modules'. You can do this by issuing
the following command in a terminal:

sudo sh -c echo 'dcdbas' /etc/modules

Vyas, do you have a BIOS password set?

Does the command dellLcdBrightness give any error messages?

[Bug 201433] Re: Dim on idle/battery does not work on Dell laptop

What does the command dellLcdBrightness do (you have to run it as
root)? Can you set the brightness with this program? Is the kernel
module loaded?

I had a similar problem - because I had a BIOS password set. Try to
unset the BIOS password if you have set one, then changing the
brightness on idle should work.

Installing openoffice.org-gnome fixed the problem for me. Quite strange
anyway.

[Bug 127944] Re: [gutsy]Open Office applications don't start

2007-07-28 Thread Christian Schuerer
@ELZorro: I don't think the shrinking font problem in konqueror is
related to this bug, it's no bug at all. You can set up a minimum font
size in konqueror. If the font size of the viewed web site is already
at the minimum font size, then you won't be able to shrink further. Just
decrease your minimum font size in the settings.
