Re: [Bug 197472] Re: Nautilus opens wrong window

2008-03-18 Thread Comhead
Hello Pedro. Just a follow up to the last reply. I have just downloaded
installed the alpha 6 updates everything is OK now. Except when you mount
a new partition from the Places - Computer window it opens a second
window. The first window is now correctly showing the mounted file system so
there's no need for the 2nd window. Anyway I'm sure you got more important
things to deal with.
Regards Nigel.

When you select 'Places' then 'Computer' from the menu and then mount an
unmounted drive the initial windows is still showing the current file system
on display instead of the one you just mounted! You have to close the
current window then either repeat the mount again or close the window
use the link put on the desktop. I have caught myself out here toying with,
for example the fstab file then realizing i'm actually editing the current
file system version instead of the mounted one. I realize that this is
probably only a problem when (if your like me and have 3 linux platforms on
the system) the file layout appears the same but even though i am aware of
it i still get caught occasionally when i no pay attention!!. Anyway it's
only minor but a fix none the less.

Re: [Bug 197472] Re: Nautilus opens wrong window

2008-03-17 Thread Comhead
Hello Pedro. No problem in helping out I actually enjoy it. I have just
booted Ubuntu live (alpha-6) and the problem appears to have disappeared,
however i have noticed that a second window is being launched when you
initially mount a new partition. The bug in my hard drive install still
shows the default system files in the first window and the second window
then shows the correct file layout of the mounted drive. I'm just wondering
though, when running the live CD, all the default system files are created
in a Ram drive and there all padlocked in read only mode. Is it possible
that this is causing the correction in the initial window? hope this is
helpful. If you need me to perform anything please don't hesitate to ask me.
Regards Nigel.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could
test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of
Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your
 help.

[Bug 195579] [NEW] Nautilus - No file association

2008-02-25 Thread Comhead
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When you right click in a window create a new text file, after you
save it you cant open it. You have to manually select text editor (Gedit
- which should be the default selection). Ok if you know how but not so
cool if you dont.
