[Bug 546183] Re: Rhythmbox does not transcode to mp3 or explain why

2010-05-03 Thread Dan Bishop
This bug already contains the steps to reproduce. Any mp3 compatible mp3
player is required. Try dragging an ogg vorbis file onto it and
rhythmbox will fail to transcode it.

It will however, give no error. It will simply do nothing.

Instead it should prompt the user to install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-
multiverse

[Bug 546183] [NEW] Rhythmbox does not transcode to mp3 or explain why

2010-03-24 Thread Dan Bishop
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I have an mp3 player (Nokia XpressMusic 5800) with the following
.is_audio_player file:

audio_folders=Music/

folder_depth=2

output_formats=audio/mpeg

When dragging ogg vorbis files to it in Rhythmbox nothing happens unless
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse is installed. Once this package is
installed, rhythmbox transcodes files perfectly.

Rhythmbox should not simply do nothing if this package is not installed.
Instead it should present the user with a similar dialogue to that
presented when the user tries to play an mp3 file for the first time on
a fresh install. It should explain that mp3 is not a free format and
that gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse is required and offer to
install it, but warn that it is illegal in some countries.

Using latest version of Lucid.

It should also be noted that subtitles are not actually selectable from
the subtitle menu. Totem simply shows there being no subtitles despite
displaying them. This means the user cannot turn them off or change
language.

The video I am testing this with has also been tried in VLC where
everything works as expected.

[Bug 106739] Tag editing in rhythmbox strips all tags completely

2007-04-15 Thread Dan Bishop
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

If you select multiple tracks in rhythmbox, then right click and select
properties you can edit any tags that are the same for all the tracks
selected. For example, the album tag. If you do however, the effect can
only be seen in rhythmbox, use anything else to access the mp3 and you
will see that ALL tag data has been stripped form the file. This applies
to both IDE3 v1 and v2.

I have just tried this editing a single tag and the same thing happens!
This is a major bug, I am slowly destroying my music collection without
realising it...

[Bug 106596] The cover art plugin should download covers from jamendo

2007-04-14 Thread Dan Bishop
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

The integration of jamendo in to rhythmbox is fantastic, unfortunately,
the cover art plugin doesn't seem to check for covers on jamendo, even
if the album was downloaded from jamendo via rhythmbox... would be nice
if it checked jamendo should it fail to find the cover on amazon.

[Bug 81256] Re: gaim-libnotify by default

2007-04-09 Thread Dan Bishop
I would have to disagree. Perhaps there were just more important issues
at the time... at present, people have to check their buddy list
everytime someone signs in, it makes much more sense to have this
installed by default.

[Bug 22978] Re: GThumb fail to import photos from Canon S1 IS

2006-10-05 Thread Dan Bishop
I get exxactly the same as above with my Powershot A630. If I plug
camera in and select import photos when edgy detects the camera, I get:

An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not claim the USB device'):
Could not claim interface 0 (Operation not permitted). Make sure no
other program or kernel module (such as sdc2xx, stv680, spca50x) is
using the device and you have read/write access to the device.

[Bug 49441] Re: Should not choose GL screensavers when no acceleration is available

2006-09-01 Thread Dan Bishop
This is REALLY important, every distro I have ever used does this and it
either grinds your computer to a hault or locks it completely! Let's be
the first to implement it.
