[Bug 880626] Re: eog should consider menubar size when creating windows to avoid scaling

2011-12-04 Thread Daniel Clem
Yup I'll second that, it seems to do ok under Unity with the global
menu. but not under Gnome shell or Gnome2.3 with out a global menu.

I hope things can be re-done to have the window automatically resize as
the status bar and toolbar are enabled or disabled, and when switching
between images using arrow keys. Possible? I think so :-)

[Bug 882948] [NEW] Window not resizing to the picture correctly

2011-10-28 Thread Daniel Clem
Public bug reported:

No matter what when opening an image, there are always the ugly black
bars on both sides of any image. Disabling both the status bar and
toolbar helps a little, and using a global menu makes it ALOT better.
But alot of times there still a clear black line on one side or the
other, even though Best fit is selected. I can manually resize the
window and I am able to get the window to just the perfect size so there
are no black bars any where.

I am a BIG stickler for this cause I love having a borderless window
theme. and when opening a picture and seeing black on one side or
another, it just looks plain ugly :/ I Love Eye of Gnome cause it does
the best at auto resizing. and being able to totally take away
everything in the window but the title bar, (any good ways of making
that dissapper too? :-P ) makes an average pic look really great, and a
High Res pic look Jaw Dropping!!

[Bug 882948] Re: Window not resizing to the picture correctly

2011-10-28 Thread Daniel Clem
I think its possibly the same bug, the other one is more technical bout
the reason it happens.

But even when the tool bar and the status bar are turned off and the a
Global menu is used making nothing but the title bar show, there will
still be a one or 2 pixel wide bar on either left or right side.

Not a huge deal, but a thing that add more to a list of appearance
distractions .

P.S. this 1 to 2 pixel black bar goes away by very carefully resizing
the window. I have never owned a Apple Mac, and don't ever plan to. But
certain details of their design a very much admire and think look very
gorgeous.

[Bug 879792] [NEW] the window I had open crashed

2011-10-22 Thread Daniel Clem
Public bug reported:

I had one window with 2 tabs open. I right clicked on a .py file, then

[Bug 660917] Re: Screen brightness adjustment does not change at all on my Acer Aspire Timeline 5810TZ

2011-10-20 Thread Daniel Clem
I just installed Oneiric Ocelot and this issue is still present. NOTHING
I do changes the brightness. (I don't know how find a conf file and
change the brightness variable, because I shouldn't have to)

This has been the same ever since 10.04. Back in 9.10 I could change the
brightness using the function keys, so you drop support for hardware
that was less than a year old at the time? WHY???

Even installing Ubuntu Tweak on every release and trying to adjust the
brightness in there for charching and battary modes. NOTHING changes it.

I am not a programmer or a tech kind of guy. I wish I could help find
and fix the issue. But I only started using Ubuntu 9.10 cause I was
googling for a way to fix an old machine that stopped recognizing the
DVD drive (under Windows) . Installing Ubuntu fixed this issue
completely and no matter what machine I put Ubuntu 9.10 on it worked
beautifully with full support and everything just worked. So not only is
Ubuntu's releases getting uglier (HATE purple) Its dropping support for
hardware??

[Bug 592859] Re: New Message Notifications in Empathy are not Attention-Grabbing Enough

2011-03-26 Thread Daniel Clem
I would like to jump on this band wagon too. I prefer Pidgin for this
and other reasons. Such as all the various plugins, customizable sounds,
and the abilitiy to save custom Smiley Icons, Including animated ones.
WHICH I LOVE.

So I will confirm this and will also seach for the Smiley Icon bug here
on launchpad. If I can't find it I'll report a new one. Empathy Is a
great app for how simple but usefull it is cause it has a fully
functioning Facebook chat that is Built in STOCK, No stupid plug in that
you need to dig around for.

[Bug 670044] [NEW] Brasero can't right a ISO image that I made for a Video dvd

2010-11-02 Thread Daniel Clem
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

I used DeVeDe to make a dvd iso and was trying to burn it to the dvd but
it said something about error, can't not write And I don't thing the
problem is with DeVeDe. I have never been able to write a dvd or back up
a dvd to another dvd within Linux in the 1 year I've used it. And I've
gone through pretty much every dvd ripping software that is in the
Ubuntu Software Center and eachone either is confusing to use or does
not have a good quality output video, or it just doesn't finish at all
cause it freezes or has an error. And this is also true of dvd authoring
software, I've tried all the ones I can find that allow me to create a
dvd menu and none of them work. I have the non-DRM avi video. What is so
difficult about burning that to a dvd so I can watch it on a player?
This really needs to be worked out and maybe choose or write better
software cause this is getting to be un-acceptable short coming of
Linux. Despite my love for open source and the community.
