[Bug 1852383] [NEW] system hangs on shutdown

2019-11-12 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Public bug reported:

On a Lenovo Yoga S940, the system always hangs on shutdown.
The screen turns black and nothing happens anymore.
I have to keep pressed for several seconds the shutdown hardware button in
order to actually turn it off.

I attach the journalctl output from the shutdown which present very
similar 'errors' from session to session.

[Bug 1846201] Re: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)

2019-10-02 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Ubuntu on Wayland has same behavior, but worst.

Video attached shows open a new tab with CTRL+T and the new tab not being
rendered until I create a new.
Then I remove both, I create a new one, not rendered, and got rendered only
when the mouse is moved.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/6Nc6oABXs1xX1ks26

This worked fine in 19.04 and works fine now with external display.

I'll send another video showing how windows animation for align right/left do
not work, windows just step from one state to the next with no animation.
Minimize/maximize are perfect.

[Bug 1846200] [NEW] Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)

2019-10-01 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Public bug reported:

This is a very wierd behavior I get on the Lenovo Yoga S940 after
upgrading to 19.10.

Basically the rendering on the laptop display is... messy, I'll try to
describe how as

* screenshots always take it ok
* also screenrecorder always seem ok, despite rendering being broken.

What heppen is:

When I alt-tab or switch tabs or align window right, the rendering does not
happen completely, so the screen displays part of the old status and part of
the new.
If I then alt-tab again for example, or move the mouse cursor over the portions
that has not rendered properly, the renders happens.

This happens only on the laptop display, not on the external display.

This makes the laptop almost unusable with its own display.

I will need to go back to 19.04, if there's something I can do to help
debug this I'd rather do.

** Description changed:

The "Authentication required" screen appeared while I was changing
software repository settings, but it is stuck there:

  1. I can click "cancel" but there is no effect
  2. The window is now always on top of any other window, despite the original
Software Repository Settings windows has been closed (actually, terminated
manually)

As you can see in the screenshot, The Firefox windows has focus now as I
am typing in the address bar, but still the "dead" authentication window
  is on top.
