[Bug 1703068] [NEW] Badly broken rendering of text views
Public bug reported: Applications utilizing gtk3 text views display terrible rendering artifacts on my system. A portion of the canvas immediately below the drawn text view gets redrawn (or perhaps more accurately *not* redrawn), and then text gets drawn over the top. Subsequent updates to the text view will just draw on top of the existing text. This is visible in (among other things) gtk3-demo (from gtk-3-examples), gnome-calculator, EiskaltDC++ Gtk3. A screenshot comparing gtk3-demo and gtk-demo (via gtk2.0-examples) is attached. It's a distinct possibility that the real issue is in the video driver or compiz or something, but this was my best guess for a starting point, since I've isolated the issue to [seemingly] gtk3 text views (and possibly also transparency overlay? the top right and bottom left of Overlay -> Decorative Overlay exhibits the problem, along with Transparency also in the Overlay section of gtk3-demo). Kernel: 4.10.0-26-generic xorg-server 2:1.19.3-1ubuntu1 OpenGL vendor string: Intel Open Source Technology Center OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ivybridge Desktop OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 17.0.3 Although I haven't tried a fresh install, I have confirmed the behavior persists in a guest session. The issue had briefly gone away a month or two ago, but I didn't have time to closely track what changed (presumably: what updates were installed?). [Bug 1698607] [NEW] "Mode" menu is out of place when launched from keyboard shortcut (unity-settings-daemon)
Public bug reported: As similarly reported in Bug #1615408 [1], the "Mode" menu for gnome- calculator appears out of place below the application title bar, however now it only manifests for me when the calculator is launched from the keyboard shortcut. I've seen some circumstances where the calculator is launched with a thick gnome3-style title bar with an integrated mode menu, but under normal circumstances, the calculator has a 'normal' title bar, and has the mode menu in the unity-integrated menu bar. My keyboard has a built-in "calculator" key, but this can be recreated by going to System Settings -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> modify the "Launch calculator" to something else (e.g. ctrl-alt-c). Press the shortcut; unity-settings-daemon spawns gnome-calculator with the improperly located Mode menu. I have these two problems on two machines as well (both after upgrading to 16.10). One machine exhibits *just* the two symptoms you describe, while another also has an odd bug making the numeric/formula entry text box transparent (see attached). [Bug 967978] Re: missing apply system-wide in networkproxy
It's my understanding that in 12.04, you should no longer need to be a member of the admin or adm group, just sudo: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PrecisePangolin/TechnicalOverview/Beta2#Other . You should definitely expect a 'sudo' group. In general, when a bug status is 'fix released' I believe that means it's supposed to be fixed in a package currently available in some release. (I think it'd be more useful if they indicated specifically which package version it was supposed to be fixed in, but in any event, for this bug, as I noted, I believe it's actually fixed in 1:3.4.0-0ubuntu7 .) This was pushed out at least a few days ago. [Bug 967978] Re: missing apply system-wide in networkproxy
This is still broken for me on a fresh install today, with gnome- control-center 1:3.4.0-0ubuntu5. I believe the problem may lie here: struct group *admin; struct group *sudo; admin = getgrnam (admin); if (admin == NULL) return FALSE; sudo = getgrnam (sudo); if (sudo == NULL) return FALSE; - Since the 'admin' group doesn't exist on my system, the function returns false immediately, short-circuiting the possibility of checking for the sudo group. The attached patch to cc-network-panel.c seems to have done the trick on my system, but presumably you'll have to merge that into the debian patch directory. ** Patch added: is_admin() should return true for sudo OR admin group https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/967978/+attachment/3043327/+files/cc-network-panel.c.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/967978 Title: missing apply system-wide in networkproxy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/967978/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

This isn't just restricted to plural words ... there just appear to be tons of missing words in the default [for me] language of English, which appear to work correctly when manually setting the document language to English (United States) as described above. Examples taken from one passage include: fully messages tasks intentionally ignoring actually answering only sympathize distracting times unless really typically dinner drinks Emily residents recurring sledding It's unclear to me where this default language comes from, much less how to change it, but it seems like fixing that [for dist upgrades?] might be the answer. -- [Intrepid] Autocheck spelling shows plurals as misspelled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/282769 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 272199] [NEW] [intrepid] Missing option to disable switch to tab keyboard shortcuts
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-terminal This is an upstream bug [ http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=548600 ], but I wanted to cross-post here, for possible inclusion before intrepid launch. Description: In earlier versions of gnome-terminal, there were individual options in the Edit-Keyboard shortcuts menu for Switch to tab 1, Switch to tab 2 etc. While these were enabled and bound to alt-1, alt-2, etc by default, it was possible to disable them, which was necessary for use of default key bindings in certain console applications, such as irssi, to switch channels/windows. The current version of gnome-terminal, however, has eliminated these [gconf] settings, and simply enables these keyboard accelerators automatically if there is more than one tab present. While it wouldn't be as nice as providing the ability to configure or disable custom keyboard accelerators for switching to tabs 1-10 (e.g. letting the user specify ctrl-alt[1,2...] as the modifier or something), I would still be much happier with the easier solution of at least giving the user the option to disable the automatic keyboard accelerators than I am with the current behavior. Ubuntu 8.10 gnome-terminal 2.23.91-0ubuntu1 ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [intrepid] Missing option to disable switch to tab keyboard shortcuts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/272199 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 153423] [gutsy] After creating second tab, display doesn't update until clicking on window
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-terminal Running latest Gutsy versions, when I press ctrl-shift-t to create a new tab, the window does not update/redraw until I click on the window. This only seems to happen when creating the second tab (i.e. from a window without tabs ... only one terminal open). Redrawing also seems to lag a second after closing the second tab (going from two tabs open to no tabs ... just one terminal). This seems to be always reproducible for me, but only started a week or two ago. This problem does not appear after disabling compiz, and immediately reappears after re-enabling compiz. (In hindsight, this issue may have started after the maximize window size not filling workspace in compiz issue was fixed.) Versions: compiz 1:0.6.0+git20071008-0ubuntu1 gnome-terminal 2.18.2-0ubuntu1 xserver-xorg 1:7.2-5ubuntu13 xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.7.195-1ubuntu2 ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [gutsy] After creating second tab, display doesn't update until clicking on window https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/153423 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-terminal in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 29760] Daniel's Fix - Remember that /tmp is ... well, temproary
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 34051 *** This should be kind of a duh situation, but after I restarted today sound in flash didn't work [again]. Obviously the files I manually created in /tmp/ got deleted after a reboot, so I had to re-create the folder/file again manually. Presumably I could toss a very quick script into /etc/init.2(?)/ to perform those two commands on every reboot ... but perhaps I'll just get good at remembering the quick fix, in favor of laziness. I mainly just wanted to point this out to other people, in case the same thing doesn't occur to them immediately as well (and perhaps they want to be proactive enough to actually toss that script onto their system). -- Sound does not work properly in Flash in firefox https://launchpad.net/bugs/29760 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
