[Bug 2064320] Re: gnome-control-center : unable to import a wireguard configuration from file
omg I've tried to import a new wireguard config from my VPN provider, but with a short filename; the import seemed to fail because the dialog closed immediately after selecting the file and the new VPN connection would not add to the list. Tried a second time and had a crash; submitted the report as suggested but it would come back again as a new crash repeatedly. I decided to reboot to try again fresh but now I have no networking altogether. No Ethernet device in /dev But lspci still reports my two Ethernet adapters. I look like I will have to wipe off this system again, start from scratch. :( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2064320 Title: gnome-control-center : unable to import a wireguard configuration from file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/2064320/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 2064364] [NEW] gnome-control-center: wireguard pair closes when loosing focus
Public bug reported: Just installed a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 LTS In gnome-control-center -> Network -> VPN -> + -> Wireguard -> Pairs -> + When adding a pair for the Wireguard connection, if the window looses focus (for example because we need do copy-paste from another window), the entire "pair" dialog closes and we loose as the info previously entered. Whoa you nailed it. The code fails if the filename + extension is > 20 characters long. [Bug 859104] Re: Nautilus extensions written in Python do not work in Oneiric
Summary of the situation with Nautilus Python: Moving to Nautilus 3.0 = Nautilus Python 1.0.0: All the extensions have to be rewritten in GTK3 because Nautilus is GTK3 now (so no more PyGTK). But we must continue to use GObject 2.x (import gobject) because Nautilus Python still uses gobject 2 ... There is also a change to make for the path where the extension goes. Move to Nautilus 3.2 (the one in Oniric) = [no Compatible version of Nautilus Python] The use of GObject 2 is no longer possible in Nautilus because it conflicts with GObject 3... We must therefore modify Nautilus Python (this is what Vincent Untz did in his patch). And we must also modify the Python extensions (from gi.repository import GObject,...). So we have currently different problems to solve: == * Nautilus Python must be patched or we can not do anything. [The work is in progress for this part] * Extensions must all be changed in one way or another to make them work again (it is necessary to warn the developers of the various extensions, and hope they are willing to adapt their extensions (because it can be a huge work for some extensions). [Bug 16492] Re: Mouse pointer should disappear when keyboard is in use and mouse isn't
This is unusable here. After the last round of updates and a restart, when hovering a gtk app (like xchat or gwibber), the cursor starts to flicker like hell and the cpu sky rockets (Xorg, metacity and the given app). Also, on non-gtk apps (like a regular xterm), the cursor completely disappears, which is bad for me as i'm using my w-m in follow focus mode. i.e. i *need* to see where the cursor is to see where i type. for both these reasons, i have to kill (or uninstall) unclutter my w-m setup: === gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager true gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /apps/metacity/general/auto_raise false gconftool-2 --set --type=bool /apps/metacity/general/raise_on_click false gconftool-2 --set --type=string /apps/metacity/general/focus_mode sloppy gconftool-2 --set --type=string /apps/metacity/general/focus_new_windows smart === this with metacity and nvidia-current. -- Mouse pointer should disappear when keyboard is in use and mouse isn't https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/16492 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 410407] Re: [READ DESCRIPTION] Flash is not recognizing mouse clicks in multiple situations
** Description changed: ===+++ _ ! ALL USERS ! _ +++=== ===+++ READ THIS BEFORE MAKING A COMMENT OR MODIFICATION +++=== IMPORTANT 1: Please see the WORKAROUND a few lines below. IMPORTANT 2: Please don't post any me too message; use the Does this bug affect you? feature you can find a bit above this bug description on launchpad. IMPORTANT 3: Do not post anything if you haven't read all comments to verify that your point hasn't been made. If you feel tempted to stop reading because there are too many messages, that is a strong indicator that you shouldn't add even more comments. Developers have a tough time to find anything if you post redundant stuff. So please abstain from doing that. = So here the bug and workarounds. For example on youtube, whilst it recognises my mouse moving over various buttons, actual mouse clicks are not recognised. I can navigate using 'tab' but this is very painful. I can also right click. The problem doesn't occur with other flash players, e.g. swfdec-mozilla. WORKAROUND 1: Disable compiz WORKAROUND 2: Remove flashplugin-nonfree / flashplugin-installer and install from adobe WORKAROUND 3: Open a terminal and enter: gksudo gedit /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer Then add: export GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1 before the last line of text - - Note: The only workaround for Chrome/Chromium users is to disable compiz. + Note: Chrome Chromium are now working fine without workaround These workaround's have been verified to work for some users. We don't need verification of whether or not they work for you. = ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Fri Aug 7 19:22:11 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: flashplugin-installer 10.0.22.87ubuntu2 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-5.24-generic SourcePackage: flashplugin-nonfree Uname: Linux 2.6.31-5-generic x86_64 -- [READ DESCRIPTION] Flash is not recognizing mouse clicks in multiple situations https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410407 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 251669] Re: totem no longer able to play m3u playlists
I have tracked the (initial) bug down to totem_pl_parser_mime_type_from_data(). The m3u is first detected as audio/x-mpegurl (which is correct), then later on, it is detected as text/plain by g_content_type_guess() based on its content (which is correct too). The problem is that text/plain is then tested only against a list of dual_types, not including m3u (which is in a list called special_types), so totem_pl_parser_mime_type_from_data() fails, making the url unhandled by totem-plparser. It is then passed by totem to gstreamer. [Bug 281302] Re: FSpot image import from Camera is really Slow
Well after all i'm not sure the problem comes from gvfs as browsing the camera with nautilus is as fast as it used to be previously. So i guess there is a compatibility problem between fspot and the new gvfs backend. -- FSpot image import from Camera is really Slow https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/281302 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 281302] [NEW] FSpot image import from Camera is really Slow
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gvfs-backends Hello, i just upgraded from hardy to intrepid, it worked smoothly except for that specific use case. When i used fspot to import photos in hardy it was really smooth while now it is really slow (from 30s to 1h30). I'm sure it comes from the transition from libgphoto to using gvfs for this kind of thing ! But i'm not sure of how to be more precise because debugging gvfs is kinda hard (dynamic module loading and dbus communication) But anyway i had to report this bug ! Thanks for the help ! ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- FSpot image import from Camera is really Slow https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/281302 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 251669] Re: totem no longer able to play m3u playlists
I think what has been fixed is extended m3u files, i.e. files with a #EXTM3U header. Unfortunately for me, it's far from satisfactory: $ find . -name \*.m3u -exec grep EXTM3U {} \; | wc -l 10 $ find . -name \*.m3u | wc -l 248 4% while in hardy, they all play just fine. The bug was initially reported by me with a clear way to reproduce, yet it is marked as fixed while it is obviously not. [Bug 251669] Re: totem no longer able to play m3u playlists
This is not the right fix. http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=551610 is about fixing the code *writing* m3u to add the missing #EXTM3U header. So this is not about *reading* m3u. And worse, this is the wrong bug as EXTM3U is about Extended M3U playlists, while here, this is about simple M3U playlists. [Bug 267268] [NEW] rhythmbox, dead-lock between songs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox On intrepid, rhythmbox recently started to stop playing between songs (some, not all). At the end of a song, the next one is not played, the CPU jumps and stays like that. When I click next, the UI freezes. It happens very frequently, forcing me to kill rhythmbox. I use x-fading between songs. Under gdb, if I break during the freeze, i see a dead-lock.. Assigning to rhythmbox but it could be gstreamer's fault. Feel free to re-assign. [Bug 267285] [NEW] nautilus folder icons missing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Last upgrade of nautilus in intrepid made custom folder icons disappear. I now see white pages (with the top left corner folded) instead of the pictures I used to have. To reproduce: - create a folder on your desktop - right click it, select properties - click on the folder icon, a dialog pops up - select a picture (for ex, anything from /usr/share/backgrounds or /usr/share/pixmap) - you get a white page instead of the expected picture if you select properties and the icon again, the picture is still selected (and visible in the preview box). It seems to work with some pictures, for ex /usr/share/pixmaps/firefox.png ii nautilus 1:2.23.91-0ubuntu1 ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nautilus folder icons missing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267285 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
