[Bug 656735] Re: alacarte needs to depend on gnome-panel

2013-03-02 Thread Fabounet
Now when we tell other people that bugs in open-source projects are
fixed rapidly, they can laugh ...

Seriously, Alacarte needs to have its own item editor, it's non-sense to
install a deprecated package to get the job done.

Just copy-paste the damn piece of code from gnome-panel into alacarte.

Re: [Cairo-dock-team] [Bug 611780] Re: applications menu doesn't show icons

2011-06-21 Thread Fabounet
Considering the number of people who are lost with this lack of icons in the
menus (not to mention that all the other OS have icons in their menus), I
think it can be considered as a bug.
But that's another problem, and does not concern Cairo-Dock ^^
So problem solved for us, since we now activate this option by default.

2011/6/21 Sebastien Bacher seb...@ubuntu.com

the issue is not a gconf one and the current default was a design
decision to have less clutter in the menus

[Bug 701499] Re: Nautilus doesn't start at first clics on Cairo-Dock applets

2011-02-15 Thread Fabounet
More details:
the code uses the function g_app_info_launch_default_for_uri()
with an URi of the type file://...
the problem has already been reported with Nautilus 1 year ago, a fix has been
made in gio, but the problem continues to occur (although slightly less often).
if Nautilus has been launched 1 time before (even if the window has been closed
then), the URI is always launched correctly.

Re: [Cairo-dock-team] [Bug 437378] Re: Some flashes appears when a window is resized

2011-01-06 Thread Fabounet
hmm, I think we were talking of a different bug ^^
I was talking about the flickering we get when a window is move_resized
(this is a very brief flicker, and is most probably due to a bad refresh of
the window from the WM, the old window's content being drawn on the larger
window).
It's much harder to get this bug now, because I have reduced the number of
resizing to the minimum (that's why this bug is marked as fixed for us).

The bug you're talking about is different: it's clearly a miscalculation of
the icons positions when an icon is being removed, and it last few seconds
(the time the icon is decreasing to 0), and under any WM (Compiz included).
Actually this is a known bug (and it probably has its own bug report
already), so sorry I didn't understand correctly :-)

The flickering in Metacity is still a real bug afaik, but then I don't think
it affects KWin, so I'm going to remove them.

2011/1/5 Bellegarde Cedric gnu...@gmail.com

 Same bug on icon creation:

dock move on right and then resize/move on left...

 http://adishatz.1s.fr/~gnumdk/cairo-dock/0157.pnghttp://adishatz.1s.fr/%7Egnumdk/cairo-dock/0157.png

 http://adishatz.1s.fr/~gnumdk/cairo-dock/0184.pnghttp://adishatz.1s.fr/%7Egnumdk/cairo-dock/0184.png

You will see bug on close (without gdk_window_move_resize()):
 - 157 = Konsole closing, dock resizing
 - 184 = dock have move on left

the dock only uses a gdk_move_resize, so the bug would be in GDK, but I
don't think so.
for me, it's the WM's job to correctly handle a move+resize event. if Compiz
can do it, there is obviously a correct way to do it, don't you think so ?

bugs appear with every window manager i test:

 - kwin

Only working window manager is compiz so i guess bug is in cairo dock
 and not in window managers...

Here what kwin devs think about it:

The claimed assumption that kwin would set size and position independently
 if
there's a combined configure request is (afaics) wrong, the geometry update
 is
blocked in the configure request until everything's done
 (position/size/contrainment)

And it works with compiz because compiz set size and position
independently due to it plugin architecture...

[Bug 662705] Re: gvfsd-trash fills up memory

2010-10-18 Thread Fabounet
Hi,
I can add the following information:
the dock browses recursively the URI trash:/ and gets the size of each file,
using g_file_enumerate_children with G_FILE_QUERY_INFO_NOFOLLOW_SYMLINKS.

I've personnally noticed that the whole process takes a lot of time when
there are a lot of files, whereas the more basic method (using fopen and
fstat) is much faster and gives the same result (I don't have network
volumes).

Thanks for your concern.

if this is the last tab, it hides the dialog.

Ok this 'Terminal' plug-ins was sidelined lately... But I don't see any
bug. Maybe can you launch cairo-dock from a terminal in order to have
more details when you click on the icon ?

some of the bugs could be sped up if the package was bit more clear
It's certainly a good idea but can you explain a bit more about what you
think? The Help module isn't so clear? Or the organisation of the menu? Is
it better to have a new entry with all shortcuts in the menu of the applet?
Or simply rename the 'About' entry?
Everybody can give us some ideas and propositions in order to have a better
 application ;)
