Re: [Bug 1368647] Re: GPS and location detection not working on Nexus 4

2015-07-29 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Hi,

I'm running mako with Ubuntu 15.04 20150727 (r22). Same issue with similar
Warning/Error messages in the location-service log files.

I think it used to work in the past with earlier development images (a year
ago or so...)

Is there a known issue without known solution, or just waiting to be
investigated?

Thanks!
Felipe.

GPS really is a core feature of a smartphone, and Nexus 4 has played a
core part in the birth of Ubuntu Touch. Anything I can do to help? How
can I get you some debug info?

 Title:
GPS and location detection not working on Nexus 4

Status in location-service package in Ubuntu:
   Confirmed

 Bug description:
   Mako with MultiROM, utopic r239

None of the apps I have tried including Weather, Google maps, OSM
Touch and SensorStatus are able to use the phone's GPS. The
SensorStatus app actually reports Found supported backend, but finds
no position or other GPS data.

Location detection on the other hand is doing something, but it is
really far off when it comes to determining the actual location of the
device. The Weather app suggests my location as Vänsjö, Jämtland,
which is about 400 km north of Stockholm where I am at. OSM Touch
reports no location available and Google maps Your location could
   not be determined

I don't know if the GPS has to waken up somehow, but it has not
shown any form of life for me on Ubuntu Touch, even though it works
perfectly fine when booting the phone as Android.

Hey, I'm on 9.04 MAD64, and deskbar-applet is gone. I just can't find it.
Tracker is gone too, at least in gnome menu, and in the applets
list(deskbar-applet).

[Bug 269447] Re: gedit crashed with SIGSEGV in PyObject_GetAttrString()

2009-03-29 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Ok, sorry I'm late.
Yesterday updated to jaunty AMD64, keeping my /home directory, so the user
configuration is still the same, same plugins, and so on. Messed up my
xorg.conf to force the low graphics mode and the menu showed up. Now all the
options involving text editing worked without problem. But my xorg.conf was
empty when I opened it, so had to reconfigure it in a different way.(not even a
backup).
When I selected the option to go to a console, it didn't work, not even to
switch manually with CTRL+ALT+F1, had to reset the computer but I think this
is another story.

So I think it's indirectly solved in jaunty.

[Bug 269447] Re: gedit crashed with SIGSEGV in PyObject_GetAttrString()

2008-09-29 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Ok, sorry for my lately answer, I forgot to test it.

The procedure was the following:

- Changed my driver in xorg.conf from nvidia to nvidi
- Restarted X(CTRL+ALT+Backspace)
- The Running on Low Graphics Mode message appeared with two options
- I choose Troubleshoot the problem
- Then, in the new options set I choose: review the xserver log file
- Nothing happened, then I choose edit the config file, nothing happened, and
so on.
- After that I tried to switch to Console 1 to correct my xorg.conf, but
surprise! now i can't do that, may be because of a driver issue... so restarted
in recovery mode and edited my xorg.conf.
- Now I'm again in gnome, and a new crash report showed saying gedit crashed in
the past, BINGO!

That's all, I have the new report, don't know if you need it.

Greetings, Felipe.

Re: [Bug 269447] Re: gedit crashed with SIGSEGV in PyObject_GetAttrString()

2008-09-16 Thread Felipe De la Puente
Well, as I said, I think the crash was during a Failsafe Gnome Session.
When the session started, The system offered some recovery options for me,
and I choose something like See X Server Errors Log. I think this option
tried to open the error log with gedit, and it crashed, because after a
while I didn't see any error log, and switched to console 1 to restart
gnome. After I've restarted Gnome, the same options appeared, and the same
happened, switched again... and finnaly I decided to start gnome wihout
seeing any log file. Then, just after gnome started, I've seen the crash
report of gedit.

So... in few words, start gnome in failsafe mode(set a wrong/broken graphics
driver in xorg.conf...), and try to see the X Server error log from the
menu, and see what happens.

Hope this helps, I'm not in my machine on theese days...

Greetings, Felipe.

Re: [Bug 269447] Re: gedit crashed with SIGSEGV in PyObject_GetAttrString()

I think it's something with this Recovery Menu(New feature?), rather than
just gedit, because, after gnome started, there were no problems at all with
gedit. I will come back to my machine this weekend, and will try to recreate
the bug.

The same here, intrepid, AMD64. The issue reported by apport is:

devhelp crashed with SIGSEGV in dh_gecko_utils_copy_selection()

CTRL+Ced, and then it crashed after a while at high CPU usage.

[Bug 262555] Re: Ubuntu quit/logout/shutdown dialog is gone

2008-08-29 Thread Felipe De la Puente
I just want to add, that when you try to shutdown the computer through
your gnome's personal desktop options(both of them) it doesn't work, one
must instead logout, and then shutdown from the main gnome-login screen.
Obviously there are no problems if you shutdown by commands.

Greetings, Felipe.

PS: Intrepid is getting really nice, I liked it so far.
