Re: [Bug 431817] Re: apple trailers won't play when opened from apple.Com

2010-02-26 Thread Gordo
I have a freshly installed copy of Karmic along with all of the same
versions of software installed as listed below. When trying to play a
trailer (The Crazies) on the Apple Trailers site I get their
JavaScript window where the movie should be played but there is a
message there instead telling me to install quicktime.

Thanks,
Gord

[Bug 431817] Re: apple trailers won't play when opened from apple.Com

2010-01-03 Thread Gordo
From reading this bug report I was under the impression that this was
fixed in Karmic but from my experience this problem still exists in
Karmic. The Apple trailers work with gecko-mediaplayer but completely
fail with totem-mozilla! Why can't totem-mozilla play the trailers when
gecko-mediaplayer can? I currently have a solution in place by using
gecko-mediaplayer but would like to use Totem so here is hoping that
this is resolved soon? I understand that this is not a Totem or
Ubuntu bug per se but I also figure that is gecko-mediaplayer can make
it work that totem-mozilla should be able to as well?

Thanks,
Gord

[Bug 96669] Re: [feisty] deleting a song from the ipod only updates the database

2007-10-20 Thread Gordo
Well I had this problem with Feisty and am STILL having it with Gutsy...
why is this not a HIGH priority bug?!?!?!?

Here is hoping that this will get fixed some release.

Well back to Amarok unfortunately because I wish I could use a gnome
based application especially the one that comes with Ubuntu by default.
Banshee at least removes the songs properly, trash or no trash but it
doesn't place the podcasts under the podcast directory on the ipod.

All I need is to have a properly working Gnome based iTunes clone and
everything will be perfect!

Thanks,
Gord

Re: [Bug 110155] Re: Podcasts not in Podcast menu on iPod

2007-05-17 Thread Gordo
Sebastien,

- I am running the final release of Feisty plus all updates
- I would subscribe to a podcast using Rhythmbox's built in tools
- I would then drag and drop new podcasts onto my iPod as there appeared to
be no other tool to sync

I haven't had Rhythmbox installed since I found out that it still didn't
work properly with Podcasts shortly after installing Feisty. I also tried
Banshee which, if I remember correctly, does add the Podcasts correctly but
has a problem with deleting data from the iPod. It will remove the song from
the database but not remove the actual file so then the iPod thinks it has
free space but really it doesn't. The way I found this bug out was after
about two weeks or so of listening to Podcasts, etc finally I got a message
saying there was not free space when in actuality my iPod was supposed to be
empty.

As much as I would love to use a gnome native app like Rhythmbox or Banshee,
Amarok appears to be the only application I have found that so far appears
to be doing everything correctly.

I haven't had Rhythmbox or Banshee installed for a while but if you would
like I can reinstall each of them and reconfirm exactly what happens. Let me
know.

Thanks,
Gord

Re: [Bug 96669] Re: [feisty] deleting a song from the ipod only updates the database

2007-05-03 Thread Gordo
As much as I would LOVE to use a Gnome based application to manage my iPod
and Podcasts and music collection all-in-one... none of them seem to be
quite up to the task yet. Rhythmbox is nice but doesn't delete files
properly from the iPod. Banshee is not bad either, but it doesn't put the
Podcast's in the right location on the iPod (under the iPod menu) but
instead mixes them in with the music.

So far the only application I have found that does everything correctly is
Amarok which is a KDE application but appears to be friendly enough with
Gnome.

So, until either Rhythmbox or Banshee fixes their bugs I am going to stick
with Amarok.

Later,
Gord

I can also confirm this bug, on Feisty (Rhythmbox 0.10) as well was with
the current SVN version of Rhythmbox.

As Ben Hall mentions, an (annoying) workaround is to create a
.Trash-$USER folder in the root of the mount location of the ipod. Then,
Move to Trash will move the file to this location after removing it from
the ipod database. Now, you are free to remove the files manually from
this folder to actually free up the space (Empty trash in Nautilus
 doesn't work for me).

I believe this bug stems from the fact that the ipod plugin
 impl_move_to_trash (rb-ipod-source.c) uses rhythmdb_entry_move_to_trash
(rhythmdb.c) to remove the file. In rhythmdb_entry_move_to_trash, if no
trash exists for the volume (ie trash == NULL) the function will return
 without doing anything.

See the related Rhythmbox bug thread:
 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346434

There is a patch there which modifies the behavior so that when the
trash cannot be created on the ipod, it instead unlinks the file (with a
 confirmation dialog).

[Bug 96669] Re: [feisty] deleting a song from the ipod only updates the database

2007-04-25 Thread Gordo
I can confirm that this bug exists in the release of Feisty. I have a
1GB Nano and I can keep adding songs/podcasts to my iPod and deleting
them but the songs/podcasts never get physically removed from the iPod
only from the database. I too never found this was a problem until my
iPod was full but according to the database there was nothing on it!!!

Please fix this bug as I would love to use Rhythmbox!

I am a PHP programmer so I won't be much help but I will do whatever I
can!

Thanks,
Gordo
